Kicking things off early as I just booked the tickets this morning. Flying Malta - Amsterdam - Las Vegas on the 8th and flying back through LAX and Amsterdam on the 19th/20th. As many of you might know already I am a degen so once again I am staying with almost full comp, this time at Park MGM.

Bigwhale is still deciding on joining or not (if you tease him about masks enough he will join for sure) and another friend might join as well depending on work. If not then solo, who cares, its Vegas!

Plan is to play a ton of cash game and maybe two tourneys (end of deepstack series at Venetian and Moose at Golden Nugget).

Cant wait, let the countdown begin!!!

That said, I am tempted to join, even though I detest any kind of Covid-hysteria, testing, mask mandates, social distancing, vaccine mandates, Big Tech, Big Pharma, The Brandon-administration... oops, I mean Biden, common typo... etc etc.

But if I go I promise to limit myself to 1-2 condemning comments per post. And obviously Vegas is still tempting despite above. Here in Malta we are only allowed to play 5-handed poker (maximum 6 people at a table), and although that can be interesting it's definitely a bit unusual. And obviously the games are nowhere near as soft as in Vegas.

Maybe anyone living in Vegas and/or who have been there recently can tell me about their experience, compared to how it was in normal times? (I hope we haven't forgotten those). Is it still fun, are games still soft, how are the waiting lists now with fewer poker rooms etc.?

That's a lot of things to detest. Especially these days.

3 weeks to go, plane tickets and hotel booked, booster shot scheduled for Wednesday next week, $$$ changed and I am currently looking at the world close because of Omicron and just hoping it will not affect the flights....

Loads and loads of flight cancellations because of Omicron, but so far it seems that I am lucky and all my flights are going as scheduled. 9 more days! Next update (hopefully) from Vegas!

Promised not to upate but things are getting out of hand with the whole Covid situation in Malta, so decided to change my flight. I will be arriving on the 2nd of January (in basically two days!!!) and staying for 13 nights. Also if any mod could please update the title of the thread to reflect the dates, that would be great!

Further to above post, I have decided to not join MuckPls this time around, for a multitude of reasons. I will probably regret it once he is there and starts updating, but such is life.

Will rather aim for a trip later in 2022, when things are hopefully more back to normal. And I do think Omicron are on the way of taking us back to more normalcy - simply because people realize what they should have realized 20 months ago; everyone will get Covid. There is no way to contain it.

Hopefully there will also be no way to contain huge wins for 'MuckPls' during his trip, and I'm looking forward to many updates with hopefully some detailed HHs as well

BigWhale is my spirit animal. I was in Vegas in September and masks were mostly a non factor. I wore it as a chin strap both nights of poker at the aria. I had to put one on to get in the Venetian one time and then removed it as soon as I was past the security guard. I spent several hours in sportsbooks and was told one time to put it on. I ignored the guy and never heard another word.

In, GL. If you’re playing 2/5 I’d say hardest to easiest IME is Wynn, Bellagio (nitty), Venetian, Aria, Caesar’s.

Aria can vary wildly depending on wait times, which have been disgustingly long lately and thus a bit more reg-heavy

Yeah, I have seen on YouTube etc. that many people are walking around without masks and/or mask on chin. So wasn't overly concerned about that.

Was just the total situation really; didn't want to take a Covid-test; didn't want to fly 20 hours (each way) with mask; and the overall negativity brought on by Government restrictions would probably have lessened my enjoyment a ton.

As said above, I will probably regret it as soon as MuckPls has arrived and starts updating, but I am hopeful for a trip later this year where things will look more normal.

And if I'm wrong about the above, I just have to assess the situation again and see if I can stomach whatever restrictions that will be in place when that time comes. Really don't want to go the entire 2022 without Vegas as well - missing one year is bad enough!

Also think I read somewhere that Casinos have been told to intensify enforcement of mask mandate recently, so might would have ended up being more strict than what your experience was in September.

Thanks! I will focus on 1/3 for now and shot take 2/5 and 5/10 based on results. What I have heard so far from friends playing 2/5 in Vegas is that Bellagio is usually the softest.

Correction: This is based on buy-in. Wynn is probably best but I dont have the BR to cover that game, while Bellagios 2/5 is 500 max.

I'm debating doing the Venetian tourney; I'm definitely a low-roller so while $400 isn't a ton, that feels like three tourney buy-ins elsewhere. early bust out would ruin my trip

Not 100% sure I will play any tourneys either. I am a nit this trip, since I will be alone and I need to make $8k last 2 entire weeks haha. Like my previous answer, it all depends on how well I do in the 1/3 games.

Won the first flip of the trip, negative rapid Covid test. Leaving for the airpoirt in just a bit over 12 hours. Next update seriously from Vegas.
