Can't tell from the pic, but hope you had your player's card in the machine. Casinos like vp players.
Fair point. Did have the card in yes Sorry again for the blurry picture, will focus better in future attempts.

Fwiw I have really enjoyed the Wynn the last few trips. Plays deeper, players happily rebuying, somewhat different kinds of bad players. I recommend checking it out.

Only in Vegas:

Guy in 1-seat at 1/3 in Bellagio was sitting with $2800. No idea who he is/was but he was entertaining and telling the table he just came off Poker after dark and won $300k off Dwan.

He was splashing around like crazy raising every hand blind. We got it in on J57r flop with AA vs his J5 that held. He colored up and left a bit later. Fun times

And for some stack porn, in for $600 currently cruising at $520 or so after a sick hand where we get in AA again vs KQo on K high two diamonds flop. Turn and river both diamond and he has no diamonds.

Nobody complained no, and I didn’t enjoy it too long.

In for $600, out for $0.

It’s Vegas and it’s expected, will only focus on the long run. Some of this helps:

Going to rest a bit and hit the dispensary before the tourney at 6pm.

A few words about the trip that was absolutely horrible. We departed Malta with a 45 minutes delay and arrived late in Frankfurt which in turn meant getting off the plane and do a major sprint to the gate and board as last passengers.

The flight over to SFO was extremely smooth and chill, we flew night all the way, and despite the plane being full and two babys in front of us we could watch a few movies etc. The only negative side was that the seats are absolutely horrible and I was crying with pain halfway through.

Either way we made it with yet another 40 minutes delay and landed at the time the Vegas plane was boarding. The queue to immigration was 60+ deep with two counters working and a nice lady already informed us not to sweat it, we are missing the Vegas flight.

5 minutes later out of nowhere they open up 8 new gates, we go through and run as crazy to our departure gate only to find out there is ANOTHER security check. Geez...

And who do they take out of the queue for “random screening”? Obviously me. So after getting my prostate checked (not really but almost) J was running as fast as he could and somehow held the plane and we reached it, again the second we boarded it left.

Bonus story, and what are the chances! A guy in pilot suit sits next to us and we are chatting about flying and we start talking about United and he points to another pilot and two flight crew. Turns out he was the one flying us from Frankfurt to SFO, he lives in Vegas and was going home. Sick...
Wow, what a story. Good job on not missing those flights!

Another day in Vegas! Woke up at 7am, went to the gym (much needed), then went out to find a game.

Randomly found myself at The Mirage where a new game just started. I was by far the youngest player at the table - always a good confidence booster!

Unfortunately my starting stack became the highlight of this session, in which I think I was running bad and not doing too horrible with my decisions. I'll run through three quick hands.

1) There is a limp for $2 and I raise AQdd to $10 and get two calls. On the flop A-7-2 with one diamond I c-bet $16, only to see the caller push all-in for $100. Can't imagine him playing a set that way, so.. I guess I call ? Unfortunately he has AK and I don't improve.

2) I raise ATcc to $8 pre from UTG and get 3 callers. Flop comes K-J-3 with both J and 3 being in clubs. Nice! I bet $20 and get two callers. Turn is a red five, so no help for me. Despite this I still think I can continue to bet, so I bet $40 (too small probably). Frist opponent folds, but the big blinds check-min-raise to $80. He has around $100 behind. In game I didn't want to push as his line seems very strong, but in hindsight I should have just done that. Basically only have to risk $100 more to win around $450 (he has $100 or so behind), so that would have been a better play. Instead I just call, the river is just a red 2, and opponent check. Don't really see a reason for a suicidal bluff here, so I just give up and show my hand. He shows KJ of clubs, so it's actually a small chance he might have folded the river. Just too bad a club didn't come though.

3) UTG limps for $2 and I make it $10 behind him with 98ss. Bit loose, but sees fine at such a passive table. I get two calls, and we see the great looking 9-8-2 with two hearts. I bet $17, and get one call. Turn is a Q. I still think I can bet for value, so I make it $35. Opponent min-check-raises to $70 (this seems to be the move of the day). JT came in, and he could also have something like Q9 and Q8, or 22. Obviously not very likely that he has 99 or 88. Anyway, I call and see what he does on the river, which comes a blank. I check and he quickly pushes me all-in, and after agonizing for a minute I make the fold. Don't think I'm good here often enough, unless he's randomly making a huge overplay of something like KQhh or maybe slow-played AA.

Furthermore, I lost T high flush vs J high flush (not a huge pot), I got A high flop when having QQ, and also missed a few other good draws in some spots. So even though I managed to win some pots here and there, the end result was a frustrating -$295 USD. Not good enough - but that can happen, and I think the session easily could have been a winner under other circumstances.

Just watched the Norway vs Sweden game (soccer) now. It ended 3-3, which means that peace is restored between all travelling parties

Gonna play more poker tonight - we have all decided to enter the $80 KO at Flamingo 6pm for some crap-shoot poker, and might jump into a cash game before that as well.

Pretty sick room for the coming two nights!

Will post a pick at night as well.

Quick update before bed, but unfortunately not a positive one.

Plan was to donk around with the $80 knockout at Flamingo, but that didn't materialize. Basically there were few entrants, and despite getting more registrations they didn't want to open more than one table for the tournament (!). That left us as alternates, which was not very temping.

Seems just absurd to me that a poker room actually is incapable of letting two tables play 6-handed instead of having 10 players at one table and making the rest alternates. At least given the crappy structure they offer. The floor-person was also rather rude about it, just abruptly stating that "yeah, sometimes that happens" when I tried to point out that they would actually lose players over this.

Anyway, enough about that. Took a seat in a cash game instead, and.. that did not go well either. Minus -$311 USD after 3 hours of play.

Too tired to write very detailed about it, but lost a good amount with KsKd after raising to $9 pre and getting two calls. Flop is J-6-5 with two diamonds, and I bet $15. I get one caller, and we see a 9 on the turn. I bet $35 this time, and opponent once again calls. River is 2s, and he checks once again. Despite straight coming in on turn and flush on river, I think this is a clear valuebet. His hand looks a lot like a QJ or similar, and I do have a flush-blocker. So I bet $50 to target a Jack, and the opponent calls. I show my hand, and he shows.. 87 of diamonds for a turned straight. Still don't see how I could have played it differently.

Apart from that I lost flush vs flush (same player, although not a huge pot), AT vs A4 against a very short stack, and generally struggled to win pots at all.

I know that MuckPls would probably ask me why I bother playing against old nits, but it's obviously because they are terrible players. I do realize that might be a weird statement coming from someone who lost over $300 to them though, and it feels a bit embarrassing doing so.

So not the best start to the trip, poker wise. That said, I actually think I play many hands so far much better than last year, and I am hopeful that will yield results eventually. Just gotta get more hours in I guess.

Tomorrow me and Enhanced will hit up Topgolf, as well as playing the 8-game tourney at The Orleans at 8pm. Should be fun as always!

(sorry for lack of pictures)

Cash games:

Hours played: 8h
Won/lost: -$404 USD
Hourly rate: -$50.50 USD

Tournaments:

Won/lost: - $100 (1 played)

Morning 2+2 people! It’s 5am and yes you guessed it, I’m jet lagged. Managed to get in about 6 hours of sleep which is an improvement I guess?

Bellagio room view nighttime as promised:

Lots of stuff happening yesterday. Played one session at the B and one short session at Flamingo, don’t ask me why..

The not too good results so far:

It’s okay tho because variance and such, will probably improve.

Plan at the moment is to grab breakfast somewhere and then play cash until the Wynn 12:00 tourney starts.

Extremely fun late game at Aria this morning, and we finally book our first profit. Unfortunately the game died approximately 2 hours after joining.

Now back at the room to chill until Wynn tourney at 12.

Good confidence booster, in for $200 and out for $550.
