By echoing the sentiment of
MuckPls as above, it's time to dust off this thread. I have for weeks now felt that the trip is still miles away (time-wise), yet here we are with pretty much only a week left until reaching US soil.
After not being in Vegas for 5 years prior to last year, this will suddenly be my third trip within 12 months! Not that I'm complaining though
Trip will be slightly different this time, as I have gotten my brother to join this time. That means that we will accompany each other on the travel. I am going to Norway next Thursday, and then we are leaving for Vegas on Saturday. Although he will definitely not bring TLDR-posts like my own to the thread, he will also chime in on occasion with some updates etc.
For the travel we will be going Oslo (Norway) - Arlanda (Sweden) - Los Angeles - Las Vegas. Due to insane hotel prizes for first weekend of March Madness we are actually staying one night in LA before flying out to Vegas super early Sunday morning (24th March). But coming from Europe with severe jetlag, it won't be an issue getting up early that day. So we are arriving almost two full days before K and J.
Being baller Norwegians with plenty of oil money (as the jealous Swedes mentioned above would say
), we are having one room each at
MGM Signature for the stay. When me and brother last were in Vegas together (2013) we did stay at MGM Grand, so already somewhat familiar with the area. Have seen some YouTube-videos that shows what to expect regarding the room, and I am really stoked about staying there for 10-11 days (leaving 4th April).
As always I have a few tentative plans, so let's see how much of the below I can complete:
---
- Work out a lot. Not gonna promise every day, but enough to somewhat limit the effect of food intake.
- Visit Topgolf (brother is an avid golfer, I can on occasion hit the ball).
- Take the High Roller for some scenic view.
- Play at least one of the 8-game tourneys at The Orleans. Tradition by now.
- Play a decent amount of VP, in a much more correct manner than during my solo trip last November.
- One cash game session of at least 7 hours. *
- Minimum one trip Downtown, hopefully two.
- Swipe Tinder, likely without any ounce of success.
- Play at one off-strip casino that I haven't tried before (thinking South Point or maybe Red Rock or GVR).
- Relax, hopefully with a lot of pool visits (weather permitting) and massages.
---
In addition to above, it will obviously be a lot of cash and tourney play. Might play slightly more tourneys than last time, although with having pretty much 11 full days in Vegas I should manage close to 40 hours cash game play as well.
* Regarding the cash game goal of 7 hours above, I have actually never played a session longer than around 5.5 hours. On previous visits I have casino hopped a lot, but this time I am keen on having at least one fairly long session at the same location. Poker room and date to be determined at a later stage.
I will come back with a proper shoe + roll pic in a few days.
In closing, I just want to say that I am super stoked about this trip. I really enjoyed my last trip as well (November), but there is something to be said for having someone to share the experiences with. And having my brother there as well will be extra fun.
Will obviously update this thread every day with pictures and walls of text in standard fashion. I am very certain my poker game has improved a lot since last time, and hopefully that will give results at the tables. But first and foremost I'm gonna relax and have fun - even if below lyrics will be the result:
