Playing afternoon tourney at the Aladdin(obviously a few years back) and J Chan is talking to a lady at an open table right next to us. Took the opportunity to get an autograph from him.
Played in the PH Grinder tourney and ended up being placed next to Grinder himself. First hand he raises my BBx3 and I have 88 so I RR him times 3 and he
goes all-in. I am in for 3.5k and its 10k to call. He says to me "you need to lay down the pocket 8's...there no good against my hand". I showed them to him laid them down, and said "next time you push I call". Very next orbit he pushed I call....my q6o took out his JTo when a six hit the flop. Had to keep my word...we spoke between hands and he is a very nice guy.

I don't know if you'd call him a professional, but I've played with Hal Lubarsky a few times. Lubarsky is the blind player who convinced the WSOP to let him play in the ME using a friend to read his cards and the board to him. After winning the right to play in the ME, Lubarsky then proceeded to go really deep in the event.

I've played 1/2 NL with him at the Mirage and 2/5 NL with him at the Bellagio. Both times, I felt like I was playing poker on TV. As the game went on, I could hear Lubarsky's friend describing the action to him like the guys do on TV: "Seat 2 folds; Seat 3 calls; Seat 4 is thinking... looks like he's going to raise... yes! He's putting in a raise to $...."

Lubarsky was a very nice man and a tough opponent. I enjoyed playing with him.

Matusow and a few others were splashing around a bunch of black chips in some hold'em or stud game I think. I wonder if anyone important is playing in the USPC this year? I know last year some of them showed up but when there were only 150+ entrants, Hellmuth and a few others opted to go play cash games over at the Borgata instead.

I played with this guy in a 1/3 game at Caesar's last year. I wonder if he can't see at all of if he can see some a little? I had a positive impression of him as well.

I ran into Tom Dwan entering the Hard Rock a couple nights ago. I got a picture with him (probably creeped him out), but it was too dark to really turn out well. Anyway, he seemed like a nice guy, and it definitely made my night.

The first tournament series that I attended was about 6 years ago. I only played one event which had a $150 buy-in, but got to play with a couple of pros. At my first table was Tom McEvoy whom I took off a hand he opened with a three bet. Later, he got crippled when his turned broadway got run down by a flopped set when the board paired on the river.

Soon, thereafter our table broke and I played at several other tables before getting seated to the right of Clonnie Gowen. I played very tight and she gave up her BB to me quite a few times when it folded around to my SB and I raised.

Of course I spotted Doyle at the Bellagio on his scooter. I was sitting in a 4/8lhe game right outside of Bobby's room when he drove out. I called out, "Go Doyle!" as he passed by doing about 15mph through the poker room and he gave me a wave and tipped his hat. During that same visit I had a smoke with Minh Ly outside of the poker room. At the time I didn't know who he was or that he played high stakes. I was pretty fired up about being up a few racks in my 4/8 game and I told him that I was killing my game. He said that he was stuck pretty good, but didn't say how much. When I saw him on TV years later I realized he that he was probably stuck many thousands that day.

Seen Erick Lindgren at M resort few weeks ago when Jets were playing on Monday night football, he was chilling and watching game with few unknown friends. Seen Carlos Mortensen in airport month or so ago, and seen some pros at Venetian deepstacks in past week, Barry Shulman being most known one. Also Scotty Nyugen riding in his BMW down Sunset Rd with top down and license plate that reads NL Baby...seen more too but this is too long already.

I work valet here in Vegas so I've seen a few.

Curbed(kept the car upfront) Mark Seif's car for him even though he didn't give me $20. Had to explain to the other valet guys that I thought he was a cool poker player and I ended up coming off as a total gos to the rest of the guys because of it. Very cool dude though, even chatted with him for like 5 minutes about poker.

Put Dan Harrington into a cab headed to the RIO during WSOP. Told him I liked his hat. He lol'ed(I think)

Valeted Max Pescatori's a couple times(good tipper)

Also valeted Durrr's car a couple times. Very good tipper, car was always curbed obv. His gf got pissed at me once cause I wouldn't release the car to her(didn't have the valet ticket). Felt bad but just doing my job. Also, I might have accidentally needled her in some way by telling her "I know Durrr but I'm sorry I don't know you so I can't release the car to you" Durrr is always super cool every time I have interacted with him.

Rode the elevator with JRB last week. Asked him how close he was to making the BI for the PAD cash game. He told me he was 25k short. Cool dude, looked either super depressed or extremely tired, not sure which it was. Totally regret not getting a pic with him!

Do you work the front valet at Aria?

JRB is the poker ambassador for the Ivey room at Aria now, he practically lives there.

This pic is from last night of me and Phil inside the Ivey room at Aria. So funny that he puts his thumb up when he takes pics.

Played $.25 PLO for fun with Chris Moneymaker at a girls softball Charity Poker Tourney a year ago in Oakville, Canada after we busted out.

Apparently he was there because of a close friend of his. Pokerstars supplied a bunch of SWAGs for prizes.

He is a down to earth cool guy and funny as hell.

Yeah of course I remember the cars. Don't really think its too appropriate to give that kinda info on here though. Also, please enlighten me with why you are such a dick(i.e "cool story bro"). I thought this thread was called "Run ins w/Pro Poker Players"??? Do you have anything to add to the thread? Or are you just going to stay posted up under your bridge like the troll you are?

OT but what exactly is the criteria for getting a car "curbed?"

is it possible to just give the valet $x and ask them if they'll do it (regardless of who you are/what care you are driving)?

thanks.

2 months ago at the Caesars Valet they curbed my gf's VW Beetle for the whole night. Nothing special about it, the ****ing moron Valet left the key in it turned with the lights on and gave it a dead battery lolz.

Then they said that they weren't allowed to jump it so I flagged down 2 hotties in a truck and told them if they wanted some good karma they had to jump it.

First read of this thread and some great stuff.

I was in Vegas in late June playing 1/2 at MGM.
I was looking at a guy part of the evening who was playing 2/5 nl
I didn't pay much attention but after he left someone mentioned
it was Russ Hamilton. A feeling of nausea came over me as I realized it was him but I stuck it out and kept playing.

An hour later David ‘GhettoFabulous’ Randall showed up and sat in Russ's seat. When I left I went and watched a few hands at the 2/5 game.
Ghetto was in a hand and tanking for a bit on a big call. He called and lost to
an asian guy who looked like Scotty N. would look like in 30 years.
I can't remember the hand exactly but it was def a cooler. I told him that could be a bad seat and explained why. Personally, I wouldn't like the Karma of sitting in a Russ Hamilton seat.

Felt bad for Ghetto on that hand so it was cool to see him take 3rd in
the WSOP $1,500 nl losing to Simon Watt (1st) and Tom Dwan (2nd)
Obviously a win would have been great but his cash of $270,000 is nothing to sneeze at.

$20 to the valet when you are dropping your car off will get it "curbed" at basically any casino on the strip. Also, valet is hardly ever ACTUALLY "closed". If you really want to valet and the sign says closed, $20 will automatically get you in. For instance I check for room keys for hotel guests at the entry. This is what happens:

me: "How are u sir? I apologize but we are closed for hotel guests only with room keys"

guy: "oh ok I have it right here" (pulls out a $20 and hands it to me)

me: ok right this way sir, thank you.

obv you could just obtain room keys for the places u visit most often but there are still rare times in which we just wont let even room key people in cause we are sooo behind.

So you scam/hustle tips at Aria valet? A $20 shakedown sounds a little high to park in the free Valet?

I kinda approve, but i've never given more then $5 to get in to the "closed" valet.

Most obscure/uninteresting: Was at Jaco beach in Costa Rica in 2007 or 2008 staying at a resort called Hotel Club del Mar and I'm pretty sure Vanessa Selbst and companion were there. As I recall, her companion was pretty attractive, but I was mostly trying to figure out if it was actually Selbst who wasn't really that well known at the time (this was after her WSOP FT, but before her other successes - yes I am a huge poker nerd who could recognize her even at that time). I didn't say hello as I wasn't sure it was her, and even it was, I didn't have much to say.

Weirdest interaction: at WSOP ME in 2006, my wife is walking the halls with our newborn son, and runs into Matusow. He stops her to say the kid is adorable and she (who hated him passionately from his feud vs Raymer on TV) is won over by his charm and wishes him good luck in the tourney. He responds that he will be lucky if he ever has such a great family.

First: Was at Orleans open in like 2001 and walked up to meet Negreanu who was playing a rebuy tourney. I was wearing a hockey jersey (as he used to at the time) so he'd identify as a fellow Canadian, and he exchanged some nice words about some rumored hockey trade with me. Then he said "watch this" and went all in blind the next hand (still during rebuy period obv). He got called and his whatever sucked out and won against whatever, and he looked over at the guy and said "sorry! rebuy period!".

I asked for a picture but he asked me to come to Bellagio later for it, which I did, and he left the stage area (the precursor to Bobby's room) and came down for the picture. He also brought Scotty and Jennifer Harman with him.

Most recent: at WSOP this year, degenning at Gold Coast, and Minh Ly was being forcibly removed while shouting at the top of his lungs. Just arrived as it was finishing so no idea what he was so upset about, but he had a couple of friends trying to calm him down. He was really furious about whatever it was though.
