he i went 3-4 years without playing at the wynn, played there this past wsop and i was shocked he remembered me as i hadn't played much there to begin with. he was always super nice.

Does anyone know how he died?

John was a true professional, he always made fair decisions and truly cared about the players.

One of the floor men who I remember and remembered me when I was playing at Encore poker room. Very nice guy and fair with his poker rulings. Sad to hear the news.

Hi All, thank you for remembering our friend and sharing your memories. Ponch was a landmark in our little poker community, and he will be sadly missed.

While details are all speculation at this time, we take comfort knowing that he passed at home in his sleep under what seem to be natural circumstances. I'm sharing this because it's important to all of us during our healing process, and hope that it brings a small sliver of peace to those who knew and cared about him.

good to see others chiming in, echoing others, he was a great guy, professional, fair, used to shoot the bull with him. if i disappeared for a year, he still remembered. i am shocked, my thoughts and prayers to family and friends for your loss. i am out of town, or i would be there at memorial right now. RIP ponch.
