Not sure how I feel about the new room. Usually it’s just 1-2 or 1-3 NL tables because that’s what most people want to play. If they have bigger games then won’t this hurt rooms like Wynn, Bellagio, Aria etc? More tables in town doesn’t always mean more players just like adding slots doesn’t always increase the number of slot players. And poker rooms have far fewer players than they did 10 years ago.

Although during WSOP I won’t mind because it gets way too crowded then.

Maybe Resorts World will draw in Asian whales from their other properties. I vaguely recall stories of Ivey and Dwan going to Resorts World Manila for big games.

I'm in... I am willing to bet that as we go forward that this will be the new premier 'kill zone' for poker at the higher levels of play

Where the Asian gamblers go, the rest of us will follow.

A lot of the rooms in town closed down for good during the pandemic, so adding a new one is not a bad thing.

You can get an early look at the poker room and casino at their website.

Resorts World seems to be offering lots of beige.

All the gaming areas look pretty weird.

Those don't look like poker tables...

I'm certainly no expert on design. To me all the pictures look like they tried to go expensive-chic and ended up at monotone-dull. Even the pool area looks that way.

To me, it looks a little sparse stylistically.

But aren’t those just smaller rooms that don’t really have 2-5 or above anyway? It’s usually just small rooms with few players that typically have 1-2 or 1-3 and not much else. It’s like having the Westgate close down-I wouldn’t expect that to make the Aria busier.

That’s why I was concerned about the best rooms being hurt by this.

If all the speculation is correct and the "whales" go there, then it MAY impact the 5-10 games. But the average 2-5 player hanging on the main strip probably won't even notice the new room is open.

We will know in the next 12 months as the ebb and flow of a new room will have to run for about a year until it settles into it's own...

When Bellagio opened, Mirage started its descent but in the mid 2000s it still got some 20/40 LHE games. Venetian and Wynn pretty much put the end to Mirage as being anything other than a low limit room, and I would say Aria did the same to the MGM Grand poker room.

On the flip side, Caesars opened a giant poker room around the same time and it totally bombed.

Can't wait, going to be in Vegas a lot over the next few months, can't wait for this poker room to open.

Those are baccarat tables--at least the table in the foreground is. Who knows whether that's an accurate representation of what the poker room will look like? It may be something staged for a photo. There appears to be a wall of mirrors making the room look bigger. I think those pictures on the wall are behind the camera.

its so far from the rest of the strip. unless they are going to offer free public transit from other properties isnt this just going to end up being another sahara?

I’m sure people said the same thing about Wynn/Encore when it opened.

Sahara is a polished turd. Mediocre rooms, one good restaurant, a couple of mediocre ones (and the Starbucks closes laughably early), no nightclub, tiny sportsbook, low-rent tournaments, North LV clientele... the list goes on. (I haven't been to the pools there, so I can't comment).

I have to assume RW is going to offer far better options, in all respects.

But it is new... and all inclusive. That might make a difference.

I somewhat doubt RW targets a crowd that would be excited to use free public transportation from center strip..

I was hoping they would have free shuttles to the Orleans.
