After having bought a bunch of edibles here I am motivated to get a medical card. The 100mg limit means rec users get ripped off when buying. 100 mg candy bars for example are like 20-30 each and medical users can buy 500mg bars for 40-50.

yea, the edible limits are so arbitrary and stupid, it's pretty annoying.

medical marijuana in nevada has actually evolved into a membership discount club for potheads. it's hilarious.

Gonna be in Vegas this coming week and would like to be a little high at times. My inclination was to hit a shop on my Lyft in from the airport (Paris hotel), so I skimmed back in this thread and did some googling.

There's a shop that's kind of on the way called Pisos, but they seem to have some kind of driver kickback and review-padding scam going on. Anyone have experience with them?

My basic plan would be to get some mild edibles (we have these 5mg mints here in WA that are good; I'd be looking for something like that) and a disposable vape pen. Any recs or warnings?

My other option is to just bring some stuff from home if the Vegas shops are too expensive and/or inconvenient. I think it's not strictly legal but I feel like I should be able to get away with it?

We were at Pisos on our trip in April. I don’t have anything to compare it with as it was the only dispensary we visited. That being said we did find it quite okay, the guys working there were helpful and they had a decent amount of product to chose from.

What did you read about the scam exactly? Really curious.

Coming from Canada end of June and wanting to try for the first time. Hate smoking, so the plan is to get some sort of edible and probably a disposable vape pen. It being flavored is a big plus for me. I'll be there a day earlier than everyone else so I figured it'd be a good time to experiment and see how it affects me before they get there.

Overall I'd prefer a more energetic experience, but could be persuaded to get something more relaxing as well. Looking through the thread augie recommended BaM and ROVE for cartridges - but that doesn't really help me if I don't know what strains or really anything I'm looking for.

Ultimately my goal is to find out whether weed will work with my lifestyle. A bunch of friends seem to love smoking and barely drink - it seems like a pretty sweet gig, but just want to find out for myself.

I'll have transportation and don't really care about the price.

Any recommendations of places and/or products would be awesome - I'd rather not be a complete knob when I go. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the data point.

There wasn't anything too specific. Basically I skimmed a bunch of one-star reviews and people seemed to be saying that they were induced/pressured to post 5-star reviews, and also that "drivers" (didn't specify taxi or Uber/Lyft) get some kind of kickback, perhaps similar to how it works for the strip clubs. Maybe "scam" is too strong. They also have over 4k reviews on Google, where the other shops have a few hundred generally.

A few of the reviews made it sound like they had kind of an assembly-line, get you out the door approach, which didn't sound good. There are some places like that here in Seattle and I avoid them.

Right now I'm leaning toward bringing my own supplies but I'm not sure yet.

Start with a small dose your first time, especially with edibles. You can always vape/eat more, but you can't vape/eat less.

Even as an experienced smoker, weed sometimes gives me generalized anxiety, so be aware that this is a very common side effect and possibility, so that you can keep your wits about you if things do take a turn in that direction.

But mostly, you'll probably just want snacks.

I live in Vegas, but never visited Pisos. Looking at their menu on weedmaps, it just seems like a tourist trap type of place with high prices and not really any high-end brands for flower.

They're probably giving kickbacks to cabdrivers, along with other dispensaries and strip clubs. Not really a scam but they're going to make up for their kickbacks by charging higher prices.

I really hate their business practices, but honestly your best bet for a tourist is hitting up Essence on the Strip. Their prices are competitive, and their product ranges from economy to top notch with everything from flower, vapes, edibles, concentrates, glass pieces, etc.

Local and have been to almost all the spots too so I'll throw my two cents in as well. I don't vape, edible or concentrate, just flower and bubble hash so that's what I''l talk about.
Really you just want a good grower, check your terp profiles, look for high myrcene and linalool with high thc. Stick with Indicas or Hybrids, Sativas are like near beer, you can smoke all day but you won't get high. Cannabiotix, The Growers Circle, Greenway Medical, Polaris are probably best right now. Stay far, far away from everyone's house weed, growers like Flora Vega, House of Herbs, etc.. There is a reason some weed costs more than others and you will notice the difference when you light it up.
Quick rundown of some stores, starting with near the strip....
Pisos, stay far away, they only pimp their house weed, that's all they have, it is severely overpriced, dried out and average at best.
NuLeaf, stay far away, in the ghetto, literally nothing you would want to smoke there.
The Grove, stay far away, more overpriced average weed, or just overpriced.
Acres, stay far away, unless you like smoking regular dirtweed. All their house strains are ass, and they only carry mid and bottom shelf growers.
Oasis, stay far away, same as Acres
Canopi, stay far away, same as Acres
New Amsterdam, nothing special, mostly mid and bottom shelf growers but they offer 25% off every first Friday of the month so if they have something on the menu you think is smokeable it's worth it
ReLeaf, stay far away, they grab stock from other stores so prices are high, store is pretty ghetto
Sahara Wellness, stay far away, another ghetto ass store with a bunch of ghetto weed. Their only plus is they have The Growers Circle but they want way too much for it.
Blackjack Collective, hit or miss, mostly mid and bottom shelf growers, more for med patients I gather, but once in awhile have some good strains. Lately have had some good Greenway Medical strains with great terp profiles...i.e. Skunkberry 25% thc with 22mg myrcene.
Reef, meh, more of a tourist trap store, Tryke is their house weed, again average, and overpriced, no reason to go there.
Blum, no reason to go there either
Essence, here is the thing, Essence has almost exclusive distribution of Cannbiotix, (I think ShowGrow is the only other store that is allowed) that's why you don't see it most places unless they have bought it from Essence, what they have done is taken CBX out of their strip location and only carry it at the Hendo and West Trop stores so that locals have the most access to it. The Facility and Desert Grown Farms are their house weed with The Facility being their bottom shelf and the batches that come out better become their top shelf DGF. The Facility weed is ass, harsh and not stony, the DGF isn't a whole lot better either. Stick with CBX Kush Mountains or Casino Kush.
Medizin/Planet13, same store, no reason to go there, they do nothing but pimp their house weed as well, they have to run 50% off specials all the time because their regular prices are about double what they should be.
Not near the strip but people always talk about Shango, decent weed, usually dry, overpriced and always has seeds. They were bought out by GB sciences, so will have to see what happens.

The Grove started doing 15% off from 3-7 AM, so you can get an 8th of top shelf like Head Cheese for 55 out the door. For recreational that's not too bad. The head cheese was listed at 55 m/g of myrcene too, which is the highest I've ever seen

Smoked damn good too

And yea Medizin has good house strains. The Million Dollar Baby strain especially. With a medical card you can get 50% off sometimes

Medizin house GG4 is fantastic, and if you're into concentrates, any of their Live Resin is also generally fantastic.

Cannabiotix sellers off the top of my head:

The Source
The Apothecarium
Essence

But honestly ever since discovering Medizin I just wait for a sale then stock up, instead of paying premium CBX prices.

Kabunky flower (Nevada Made Marijuana in Henderson) is also very good with good bargains to be had as they're always running specials, and tax is included in their posted weedmaps prices.

If you want something simple, (preroll or 2, a vape cartridge or disposable vape pen, an edible, an eighth, etc), Essence will do you just fine. If you're a power smoker and want something specifically, then you need to shop around.

Can't get the multi quote working so...
It's not that Planet13/Medizin weed is horrible just overpriced that's why they have to run 40-50% off specials all the time. I've tried 4 of their signature strains, MDB was the best, Chloe tasted like cinnamon and reminded me of smoking a clove, BananOG and GG4 were pretty dry and tasteless. Nothing I'm going out of my way to get.

The Grove doing 15% off is cool but their menu is very limited with most of their stock being house Kannabis that they already have a special on.

No you're not getting high from sativas. They're like Chinese food. You smoke and get a little head change aaaaaaaannnd it's gone, and you end up playing basketball or something while you smoke and smoke and smoke...

Some stores are worth going to if you look. If you were looking for today Blackjack Collective wouldn't be a bad spot. Tuesday is 20% off for locals and they have a few decent GWM strains and with discount it's 48/eighth out the door. Also Henderson Essence got a CBX drop Saturday and the Kush Mountains is pretty tasty this batch if you ask me.

I think Essence and Show Grow are the only 2 actual sellers of CBX, everyone else gets theirs from one of them. Also there's not really any premium for CBX, look at the price of your Medizin GG4 without being half off, $380, an ounce of CBX is $341 but you get up to 30% off for rec and up to 40% with med card.

Also, take any Weedmaps reviews with a grain of salt. Most of the people that leave a review don't have a clue what their babbling about, and a lot of stores give a discount if you hop on your phone and leave them a good review.

According to Misfit's post, yes? I don't think it's accurate at all though. If you are an occasional toker, you will be fine with any store you choose. If you are a weed connoisseur, you may want to do more research and pick a specific dispensary. To say to "stay away" from any of those on the list is just ridiculous though.

I also highly recommend the BaM disposable pens for anyone coming to town for the WSOP. Pretty powerful and very discrete as they only smell like the terps, not weed.

Wandered over to The Apothecary when I was in town during February for the WSOPc. The fact that it was easily walkable from The Rio was a bonus even if it wasn't at the top of the list for some. All I was looking to do on that trip was grab a few CBD edibles and vape cartridges to bring home with me. Was there early so no waiting and was in and out in a matter of minutes. Would have spend more time if I had a longer trip and was trying to find things to partake of while still in town...

It had the added bonus of allowing me to see JUST how the walk was from Gold Coast to The Rio since some whine and snivel about it. Easy walk. Would have no problems with it during the summer either...

people whine about walking from the GC to the Rio? I timed it at an easy 11 minutes from my room at the GC to the cash game podium at the WSOP. I am 50+ years old and 50+ pounds overweight. still no problem.

Sadly, yes. But let's not derail this thread...

Suffice it to say that The Apothecary is VERY accessible on foot from The Rio. I went early in the morning and had no lines to deal with. Went in, they scanned the ID and buzzed me in. After making the selection, everything is put into a ziploc bag that looks like a lightly insulated refrigerator bag (the silver reflectory inside). Had no problems getting the bag through security at the time of my departure, so it isn't something that triggers whatever the guy looking at the screen is looking for.

That being said...my outbound purchases were NOT in the ziploc at the time.

Got in late last night and had a rental so went to New Amsterdam downtown. Was looking for a good pen (as per suggestions went with Rove) and some edibles. Weedmaps was super helpful - I searched Rove -> Tangie Pro Pack and found the one place open that had it.

Experience was as everyone else says: get buzzed in, big bouncer guys take ID and you sit in a room with prices of random things on a monitor going by until a budtender is ready for you. They come in, ask what you're looking for and set you up with whatever product they carry that correlates to that. They used an app to put the order in, and then you get handed off to the cash guy. They're behind glass, confirm your order and get it from the back. You pay them (cash only) and they give you your product. And you're done.

It seems like there's a ton of people working - I was there at 1130 and there were no fewer than 7 people working. The overall layout left a little to be desired though; I was happy I'd asked questions here before because I'd have had no clue wtf I wanted or was doing.

To be terribly honest, I'd probably going to another dispensary before going to New Amsterdam again. Location a little sketchy and other places seemed a little nicer. Plus the prices for what I was looking for are pretty much the same everywhere.
