so since im a nite owl I could just show up at like 3 am when they are dark, be willing to play 4 handed, and sit there and read a book for 12 hours earning 10$ an hour.

I don't think so. Once the night game goes down they "close" the room and it reopens around 10 am. Might not be perfect on the exact times, but that's the gist of it.

Not being able to find a decent meal at the Treasure Island, to pay for with comps, has got to be the best example of a first world problem I have heard in a while.

Just trying to put it in perspective, since the guy was including the $2 in the earn rate. It's cool that TI has $2 comps, it's just that their offerings are surprisingly meager compared to pretty much every other casino with a poker room that has at least 3 or 4 good restaurants and usually a good buffet. TI Buffet is only one tier above Hometown Buffet. It belonged in a list of pros/cons.

People are forgetting that you have to play 60 hours a week to earn $10 an hour in promo. Do you realize how much volume that would be while playing in such an awful and nitty game?

On average, what percentage of players in the game are tourists vs. Grinders? Is it around 50/50 I'm hoping? Appreciate it.

Nitty games aren't crushable but they are certainly beatable if you have discipline, patients, and know how to exploit nits. If I were grinding LLSNL I would view this game as a bankroll rebuilder for any periods of run bad.

Not when I've been in it. More like 70/30 and that includes me on the "tourist" side.

It's undoubtedly a great promotion, especially considering there is nothing in Las Vegas that even comes close to this (unless I am mistaken). I mean, nobody else is even doing rakeback and here TI is offering up to $10 an hour in cash? I would do it if I was super nit and sucked at poker (not saying you suck at poker if you play there).

But, at the end of the day, I just don't believe poker is meant to be played when there are more tight players in a room than loose ones. Its easy to exploit the nits, but it also very exhausting, because you are using so much brain power and energy contesting and stealing pots that only have $12 in it. There should be mandatory straddles or minimum buy ins of 100BBs in order to induce action in these kind of games.

I could see someone who really wanted to live the grinder life grinding this for 60 hours a week and then driving uber for another 20 or so hours a week to make ends meet.

Doesn't sound all that appealing to me personally. But if I was ever in a bad spot financially i would do it before getting a 9-5 job where someone tells me when to work, what to wear to work, etc

Having bigger minimum buyins should not increase the action; it should actually decrease action, because it increases money at risk. In California the buyins are mostly very short, and there is plenty of action.

It closed for good earlier this year.

I went to the TI on Sunday to try to run the 2pm tournament. It didn't fire, and they only had one name on the 1/3 NL interest list. No games running at all.

spot on. make it a 50 bb cap with a mandatory button straddle and the place would be packed every night and they wouldn't need to offer rake back, it would be south florida and maybe we could start making scores in LV on Tuesday morning.

Yes, it's so great that no other room does it, yet they have players and TI doesn't.

What did Kahunaville? Wow I had no idea. I was there in mid January and ate there. I always liked it. What did they replace it with?

The 10pm runs every night. I've never seen it get less than 25ish, and that includes random Tuesday/Wednesday nights. I've never seen the 1am actually run, but I'm not there every weekend so it's possible.

So far, nothing. It's walled off and no sign indicating what's coming next. If I hear anything, I'll pass it along.

Kahunaville always seemed to be busy when I've been there. Cheap-ass Ruffin must have raised the rent.

Thanks please do. I stay at TI every year when I'm in town for the SHOT Show. The show is in the Sands expo behind the V so TI is super convenient. I always enjoyed Kahunaville and I agree with the other poster, it always seemed pretty busy.

Bastard! I'm jealous. I've wanted to go for years, but never been able to get in.

Speaking of cheap-ass Ruffin, is the TI parking garage still free? Any sign of paystations under construction?

Haha! It isn't easy and they are making it harder every year. The last several years had gotten almost out of control with people who really didn't belong but somehow stretched the truth enough on their paperwork to get in. However this year was noticeably better.

If you ever manage to get in, you will be in awe.

A guy I know on the intarweb got me into SEMA by claiming he had an engineering company that designed car parts, but I've not been able to get the same deal with SHOT. A friend of mine used to work for a dog training collar company, and they sent him for a couple years. Doesn't get much better than that.
