Saw someone post this on another forum:

I went there last week. 4 players. They never looked up from their iPads, never said a word. Zero action. I raised 7 hands in a row. Got called once. They folded flop. They're just playing for rakeback. I went to leave. Floor said "ya don't like SH huh?"
My response was "I do. I don't like playing against corpses".
AVOID THIS GAME!!
That actually sounds like a game I wouldn't mind playing. The promotion has gotten worse over time though and I'm not sure that I would be able to get 60 hours even if I tried. I'd rather play at other places.

They tried spreading a 2-6 spread limit game maybe 2 years ago ....it ran for a couple of months and then died....the 1/3 with the rakeback is a nit fest....when the Tropicana had a poker room they ran a similar promo and the same guys from Trop now play TI

Looks like things are going to change around TI this summer. From dusty old rock garden to high stakes action?

You can get any of those games now if you want. The problem has been that nobody wants.

Looks like they're making a concerted effort to get something going so it does bear watching on Bravo.

With all of the traffic over the series, this is great marketing. After Bellagio, Aria, Wynn and Venetian I can't think of anywhere else that would have a game higher than 2/5 NL on the strip. Not to mention TI recently revamped their room and it's tucked away.

Ballys had 5/T.

What are people going to think after hearing about these supposedly big games and showing up to see 1 1/2 tables of 1/3? Hopefully TI is smart enough to get host(s) to start these games but I doubt it.

So did Caesar's, and I heard even Binion's got one off at one point. Although this was all during the week of the Colossus when 20,000+ poker players were all in Vegas and all the main rooms were over flowing. Not likely sustainable for the duration of the series.

That website I linked to shows fairly clearly that there will be a massive concerted effort to run higher limit games. It won't be a "we have $100/$200 NL available" sign up in the entrance and hope for the best.... several known European faces/names are going to be driving this through the summer. Will it be successful? Who knows. But they will be going out there to get the players, not hoping they stumble in on their own accord.

With Living It and Loving It and UK partners promoting cash games at TI, they should also add tournaments such as with the Senior Poker Tour or other tournament tours/promoters. I'm more likely to try playing at TI now than a MGM-owned poker room.

That's what a host is. They will have to do more than offer games, they'll have to start them. Hopefully TI won't bungle it as usual and screw it up with the hosts.

It looks like some of it is tied in with Euro16 soccer. I know of a couple of the guys on that website, if they are in Vegas, they will sit those games

With the current poker state of affairs and slow downward spiral, I'm just glad to see anyone, even TI, making a big advertised effort to not only keep their poker room open but actually attract players and get some action on their tables. I wish them all the luck.

Can somebody ask TI if this rakeback promo will continue when "Living It Loving It" arrives?

Such a weird combination. They want to fill the poker room with Euros and the rest of the hotel has the cowboy theme.

Really?lol I've stayed at TI a bunch of times and I've never noticed anything Western/cowboy besides Gilley's and the Gilley's gift shop? I'm seriously not trying to be a smart aleck but if you'd have asked me I'd have said it still has an island theme..... Kahunaville, Senor Frogs, the Seafood Shack, the palm trees, the boardwalk, the bay and the giant pirate ship out front..... I'm willing to admit I'm wrong though. I'm just racking my brain imagining the interior of the casino floor and surrounding areas and other than the Gilley's side wall, I don't remember much else being cowboy themed?

The whole area where the scantily clad dealers are was cowboy themed, and those dealers had western wear, as skimpy as it was. Maybe they changed it.

Isn't Treasure Island pirate-themed?

It was pirate themed as Treasure Island. Seemed reasonable at the time too. Then someone decided they didn't want the ankle-biters on property and renamed it TI... out went the pirates, in came the sirens. Out went the skull and crossbones (unless it cost too much money to strip out) and in came the.... errr..... not too sure really. Anyway, they also bought in the bikini mud wrestling from The Frontier, so we can let that one slide.... literally.

LOL, yes, the former Frontier owner, Phil Ruffin, bought TI. At a screaming bargain too, less than he got for his Frontier dump. MGM was hurting for cash.

Total derail but...... Speaking of the bikini mud wrestling; my wife and I were bored one night on our last trip and we went to watch since we were staying at TI. While very entertaining, we were both disappointed to see it was a 100% staged show. I don't know if it's always this way but I'm guessing it is.

Basically there were 5 contestants. 3 were super good looking 20-something year old girls in perfect shape who are obviously professional dancers. Not saying they are strippers (maybe?) but they were definitely dancers because they moved on that bull like no normal girl next door could do. They were all supposedly random girls from places like Nebraska and they just happened to walk right up in time to ride the bull. Next was an early 50's "wife who's husband left her in the room to go gamble" and she decided to come down and ride. She was not in as good of shape, nor did she have the moves but again it was obviously bogus. Then there was the one that takes the cake. It was a 350-400 lb girl who looked like a sumo wrestler and was barely mobile. It took her 3-4 minutes to get on the bull and it took help from a bouncer. It was as disgusting as it sounds.

So again, it was entertaining and we laughed and enjoyed the show but it was obviously that....just a show.

FWIW we were there in February and it wasn't staged. About half an hour before the scheduled time we asked if it was on and the waitress said they hadn't gotten any sign-ups yet, but they were still trying. Eventually they managed to get about 3 or 4 customers to do it, and they were obviously customers that were there with their friends.

I would rather beat off with barbed wire than play 1/3 at TI for 60 hrs a week to get $600. If people play slow 25 hands an hour, I think one would break even if they just blinded out at a ten handed table. There is no reason the "kick me in the nuts guy" and the other homeless street performers shouldn't just sleep at the TI poker table instead of their day activities. Don't gotta know anything, just ship it with JJ,AQ+ to make a the big bucks.
