Has anyone here been playing the Treasure Island rake back deal at TI? It pays $599 if you play 60 hours in a week and starts at $50 for 10 hours and goes up from there every 10 hours. They pay you cash at the end of the week. I was there the other night and the game wasn't bad but only one table. The rake is $4 and the promo is $2 a hand.

I've still never played in the room.

Edit: Also I haven't seen almost any talk about TI recently. Last I heard they changed the game to 1-2 NL when the Mirage closed down for a while. Now TI switched it back to 1/3.

Many years ago, I played there b/c a) I was unemployed w/ near zero bankroll and b) they had a similar, but definitely less lucrative promo.

Whoever said nit heaven is definitely on target. However, assuming you play good ABC poker and can find a game often enough to make the hours, you could definitely make some money. Definitely wouldn't be what I consider a fun experience though.

I'm curious what the games are like. I never thought that doing this was a great idea though. If you're comfortable playing 2/5 then playing 2/5 makes more sense. If you're not comfortable at 2/5 then your game is likely weak enough that playing 60 hours with the same regs without the ability to change tables doesn't sound like a great idea.

I used to be interested in this because of the $600 plus $2 an hour comps but not interested enough to try it.

The $2 jackpot drop is problematic. They probably don't take the second $1 until $40 or so but you can play at Aria, Bellagio, Caesars and Wynn at $4+0 and likely get a better game.

If you make it to $10/hr, you're probably already paying 30% or so of that in promo rake. It only gets worse from there as the number of weekly hours drops. I would only take a shot at this if I knew I could hit one of the top tiers unless I was already playing in the room anyway.

funny you say that because a reg in the game told me he only plays here on a week he knows that he can get the 60 hours in. It's basically he gets to 60 hours in a week or he just plays at other rooms if he can't put in the hours in a particular week.

At least my experience about 6 years ago was what you would expect. A pretty even split of easy to spot nut peddlers, a few decent ABC players, and a few bad 1/3 players, with a VERY rare LAG showing up to try to exploit the tightness of the game. The game can be beat if you're reasonably good, but probably not at the same rate as a more juicy game with a lower rake.

I'd consider it a lower variance play (and depending on your style probably a lower win rate play), with the $600 payday offsetting the fact that big pots will be few and far between.

Reminds me of the $2k weekly freeroll that the Rio used to have if you played x hours per week (something like 12?). All the nits just chopped it 20-ish ways every week....it was rarely ever played.

For a while this was free money, because 20 would cash and less than 25 would play. Now there's at least 35 people in it every week so I don't bother getting the hours for it.

I don't consider any of the other freerolls in Vegas worthwhile. If you have a crappy winrate below $10 per hour (but are not a losing player) then it's probably worth it, but if you have a strong win rate >$25/hr caring about these things will most likely actually lower your hourly, for many reasons, that I don't care to write out.

If your winrate at 1-2 is low then you're going to struggle playing in games with a lot of freeroll nits. So even in that case I'm not sure it's worth it.

I will be in Vegas end of June through July 4th weekend. I wouldn't mind grinding a few long sessions of limit holdem and smash the promo. Message me if interested.

$600 cash plus $120 comps

It's been years since I've heard of a LHE game running there. Has that changed?

I'm not a Vegas reg but I make at least one annual week long trip: sometimes a couple trips and I always stay at TI. I check Bravo from time to time even when not in LV just to see what games are running in the different rooms. I am not sure I have ever seen more than 1 cash game running at TI personally or on Bravo. It might happen but it has to be are rare as a blood moon.lol

I've played one of their little nightly tourneys and it broke the only cash game going so that we could get 2 tables to play the tourney.

With that all said, I can't imagine putting in that many hours in that hole in the wall poker room. I'm a fan of the TI hotel and don't mind the casino but I'm not sure how the poker room is still in existence.

I've played the 10pm tournament there more times than I care to count, and that typically gets 40+ players. The only time I've seen more than one cash game running is during some kind of special event (WSOP, conventions, etc). They will, when demand is high enough, run a mixed game along with the 1/3 game, but it's been months since I've seen it run.

I was there sometime last year on a random weekend (not WSOP) and there were TWO (count 'em) full tables of 1/3, AND a list. Definitely an outlier, though.

Promos killed that room years ago. Too bad, it used to be my favorite room and I would stay in the hotel because of it.

yes you can get 60 hrs in this room. They always have 1 game but lately have been getting 2. 60 is too many for me. I have a real job 😥.I average about 30. Plus they still pay $2 an hour for comps. Say what you want about this room but I like it. As far as action goes, the $500 max buy in and the no limit on the utg straddle makes this a pretty good game. They also have the button straddle for $6.

Yes there are a few players who go for 60 hrs and play tight, but IMO the game overall plays looser than other games in casinos with lots of tables running. They should of never moved the room from the front. I feel like the room was better before they moved it, but getting to the casino parking garage is the easiest on the strip and that's a big deal for me. I hate the parking at the V, Bellagio and especially the Aria.

Friend of mine told they started this week some high hand promos and a point system for a weekly free roll. I'm going tomorrow so I'll know for sure what the promos are.

Overall, it's not the best room in Vegas, but the dealers are good and they know me by name so I get treated pretty good there. Plus I like small rooms. Also, the 10pm tourney always has a good turnout. They also have a weekly leader bonus for the tournaments.

Do they get any limit games? I saw them tweet that limit rake was $3.

They've had that for awhile in the attempt to get limit games going. When the Riviera poker room manager (a 2p2'er) tried to ramp up LHE, and then the room closed, I guess TI thought they might be able to snag onto any interest that may have been drummed up. I still think the only way to get a steady LHE game in Vegas is to have props, so players know when they can be sure to find a game. But Vegas thinks promos = props, and refuses to consider it. Never mind that the biggest and most profitable poker rooms in the world in California use props.

Limit just isn't popular in Vegas anymore. Even Aria, Caesars, MGM and Wynn can't get a single limit game going so it's no surprise that TI can't either.
