Backstory:

I did a couple of threads 3-4 years ago about my initial move to Vegas and my ups and downs juggling part time poker and climbing up the career ladder in advertising. In the summer of 2017, I was relieved of my contract and lived off of my savings while playing poker part time (Mostly daily MTTs and wsop.com). In January 2018 when I relocated to Washington, DC for a 1 year contract that just expired.

I haven't quite decided what I'm doing in this next step of my life, except that I know I will eventually relocate back to Vegas full time. I checked my email offers the other day and saw two nights comped at the MGM Grand in Vegas on Sunday - Monday. I checked out one way flight prices to Vegas on 3/3 and found a $77 fare from DC -> Vegas nonstop on LOL-Frontier.

So far, we're in for $77. What's the plan?

Here's where things get tricky for me. I have a job interview that week that I will be taking remotely for a position with an agency in Florida. With my experience, I could command the high-end of their salary range and that job offer would be a no brainer. I also have two meetings lined up for my side business that I will be taking that week in Vegas. Ultimately, I would love to take the full time leap again and make Vegas my home base while I expand my side business and flesh out my portfolio of clients. I would continue to play poker 20 hours a week or so with a bigger budget than I had on my initial move to Vegas. On the second hand, the position in Florida would be pretty "easy" and the option of taking an attractive salary for a few years is the security that I would feel like an idiot for passing up. Especially since I am leaving the DC area regardless.

I am going to take some days in Vegas to myself and follow my heart. But mostly, I am going back to Vegas to try to catch the itch again. I love poker. It's been sustainable side income for me for 10 years now with 6 winning years in a row until 2018 when I played <250 hours and lost -$5100. ~$2700 of that being tournament entries. I can't wait to get back to Vegas, see my friends briefly, look at housing options for a potential move, but most of all.....

Play a ton of hours of poker and tilt low stakes regs. I'm trying to get the love of the grind back.

And just to keep it 100% transparent with you all:

Spoiler:
... at any point, this trip could turn #hookersnblow

Now that I hopefully have your attention, AMA until the trip next weekend.

I don’t get what’s the question? BTW been following your threads for years and even ended up randomly playing with you at the Orleans a few years back. Didn’t know it was you and you won’t remember me as I was just some rando rec fish. I like you’re writing and you seem like a good guy.

Seems obvious go to Vegas, do prepare for your phone interview for the Florida position and take it seriously. If it’s a good position and they make an offer you take it. If you hate the job quit after six months or whatever the required duration for any kind of signing bonus/relocation package they might offer. You should still be able to explore your side projects while doing this role if your committed right? Also as far poker, Florida isn’t a bad poker scene.

I remember that day! I believe you were a few seats to my left, sort of blind because I don't remember what you looked like. I left that game and registered for the 5pm Daily at the WSOP and played until 4 am to bust 2 spots from the bubble.

I love the Orleans. That's going to have to be on my list. Plus I'm friends with a ton of the staff there so it would be great to see them and get in a 50 game Keno session.

As far as the job. I will base temporarily in Vegas just to save on the cost of living. Between saving $5-600 just in rent and the tax break from in state it's a no brainier to leave the DC area when my lease is up in April.

Thanks for jogging my memory, and the kind advice!

I've heard the Florida games are easy, just very far apart.

So far, I'm on a little run-good with the comps. My first two nights are comped at MGM Grand, the next two nights comped at Planet Hollywood. Even all in with the resort fees, if I return Thursday the 7th, that's $317 for 4 nights, all in round trip airfare, room, & taxes.

That is ridiculously cheap; considering it includes air fare (even for a one way trip).

I am definitely subbed and will follow along. I am Maryland guy and remember you first posts on this forum way back when; best of luck !

So the wildest thing happened to me last night. In my apartment complex, it's shared laundry and I left an entire load of clothes in the dryer overnight. I realize it about 7am this morning, check the laundry room and my clothes are gone. LMAO. That's some hood **** for ya.

Not that much of a bad beat as it was mostly t shirts, undewear, socks, etc. No big deal as it will make my packing a lot lighter. I'll just buy underwear and socks when I get to Vegas. Maybe this can start a new tradition of run good.

Speaking of run good, tilted from the beat on my clothes, I went to my local casino MGM National Harbor for a morning session to add to the roll. Everyday there's a lucky tables promo where one table at random is picked once an hour and everyone at that table gets $300. This brings a very promo nit crowd usually and at their 1/3, action is always very straightforward and void of big gamblers.

I bought in for $250 at 11:30 am, planning on a hit and run double up session as I had to be somewhere at 2:30 pm. The very first hand I pick up 88 in MP with a $6 straddle and $12 raise out. I flat the $12 and 6 see a flop of

7s5d3s. The short stack leads out for $10 and is snap raised by the BB to $35. I complete the call and we go 4 to a turn of 5c. Action checks to me and I lead out for $40. I get a caller behind and the short stack is all in for ~$20, the BB completes the $40 call. At this point we have a ~$300 pot. The river brings a 5s. The BB checks to me and I lead out for $90. The button goes into the tank and folds his A high flush face up. At this point I'm furious because there's action behind, but the BB goes into the tank for about 3 minutes before folding his 7 (55577) so I get no action on my river bet because the donk on the button folds his Ace high flush face up with action behind. Nevertheless it's a great start with a $300 pot.

The game eventually gets boring with guys not really giving much action. The table was very slow in every hand rather than table switch, I bagged up a +$389 session in a little under 2 hours. Pretty much freerolling the trip.

It's been a year since I've been to Vegas and I'm pumped. I'm sure it will be a slow week for poker, but my plan is to get 30 hours in over the course of 4 days. This will be made up of Daily MTTs in the morning and cash at night. Most of my play will be at MGM, Planet Hollywood, Aria, and maybe Golden Nugget if I decide to do a night downtown. If you want fancy food and club pics, you will not get that here. But you will get as close as possible to a live TR doing a lot of casino jumping, along with some "hidden gems" of Vegas that I absolutely love.

Pic related, session earlier today.

Bankroll something like tree-fiddy. Obligatory shoe pic. Hoodie courtesy of @slutwhisperer on IG. He's a great follow. I'll touch down in Vegas in about 6 hours.

Just landed. $20 trick got me a decent strip view at MGM. Gotta hit up Ross for socks & undies. I have a few local friends picking me up in about 30-40 minutes for a quick adventure and back to change and find some action.

I'm probably going to chill downtown for most of the afternoon. Turboswiping, looking for a Tinder winner, and getting some degen bets in before the week of poker.

Moved the pregame festivities to downtown. I'm currently at the Plaza to scratch the degen itch.

So what better way than a 2.5 Million dollar sweat? Pictured I have a 50 gamer going on a Keno 10-spot and a 4-Leg NBA parlay. The keno lady gave me about ten free drink tickets which I plan to mow through.

Cheers fellow degens.
