If not, what options are there outside of Taxi/Uber?

The Rio stopped offering a free shuttle at the end of last year. Gold Coast still has one, but depending on how much you value your time, I’d say just uber

How much would an uber be from Caesars to Rio? How about from, say, Planet Hollywood?

Thanks.

Thanks. This uber ride share seems like a great option.

Free if you get a bike.

Rio to Caesar's and vice versa is easy. Just take Twain down to Frank Sinatra then Jay Sarno (where Caesar's is). If you want to continue on to Planet Hollywood, cross the Strip (on the crosswalk) then walk your bike to Flamingo. Re-ride your bike on the sidewalk at the Cromwell. Cross the street to the Bally's parking lot (behind the casino), then take the back road to Planet Hollywood, where they have two bike parking areas - one at the back (at the self parking) and one near the Strip (employee parking where civilians are allowed).

you can walk it. its not very far. just walk it after dusk or before dawn for the ultimate cheapest way to get there.

The Caesars to Rio walk really is totally easy. I've probably done it almost 100 times. Much less pleasant in the summer midday though.

I had to google map it because I didnt believe you. It is 0.9 miles to the rio from Caesar's, or 1.1 miles to the Rio convention center. So walk to Rio then take in all of that sweet air conditioning. kind of seems like a no brainer if you're on a budget. It's a farther walk from Caesar's to MGM, and drunken dehydrated tourists walk that and more every day.

Make sure you wear a "Go Gamble" cap while riding your boosted board.

But yeah...Rio WSOP area and Caesar's is a short walk. Probably less than 5 minutes on a bike, and be sure you take the sidewalk...if you're taking the bike.

I read that this walk is dangerous though. Any truth to that?

Dangerous how? You're walking along a highway and there's garbage piled up around various points, so it certainly isn't scenic. But there's always a sidewalk with signalled crosswalks at every intersection.

Yea, I guess people say it's dangerous because Vegas drivers are notoriously bad and you're walking along a highway. I heard the bridge in particular is quite dicey. This is all from secondhand sources though.

You don't have to take the bridge, you can go Sinatra/Twain which takes you under the freeway rather than over it.

Having zero knowledge of this area, is that area under the freeway safe if you're alone and carrying cash?

You're safe from getting in an accident with cars when you're under the freeway bridge. That's because they drive very slow while there. They're headed on a one way street towards a "T" road where they are forced to turn once they get to Sinatra. They can't go straight into a building. Takes forever for the lights to turn green, causing a backlog.

If a pedestrian attacks you while on the sidewalk under the freeway bridge, there will be tons of witnesses from the cars. If this happens and traffic is at a standstill (which it often is because of the "T") just walk into the street, literally to stop traffic and ensure the bad guys get seen by everybody.

I haven't seen any homeless people there. The terrain does not lend to good sidewalk sleeping/camping.

But seriously, get a cheap Walmart bike and only drive on the sidewalk.

lol..... sure just like any urban underpass at night along a route with quick getaway for drivers.

I know the area and would never recommend it.

(Sticking to Flamingo, if you insists on walking, is likely much safer so long as you watch for traffic entering and exiting i-15.)

............ bottom line, take an uber for Christ's sake.

You would not be walking along a highway if you walk on Flamingo. (You would walking along a main street and taking an overpass across I 15.

It IS dicey in my view, having walked it, solely because NONE of the drivers will be looking for you or see you, they are either exiting or entering a freeway and VERY few people walk on Flamingo around there.

You can watch traffic for yourself, but assume NONE of the drivers see you and they will all speed up entering or xiting Flamingo.

I haven't walked it a hundred times, but I've done it at different times of the year and times of the day. I never had an issue. I know this sounds un-American, but if walking over the interstate wait for the crosswalk signs when crossing the exit ramp. The longest it has taken me from the Bellagio poker room to the front door of the Rio is around 20 minutes.

I don't know what it would mean to "know the area" in this case.

You basically go immediately from walking in front of the Caesars casino (along Flamingo) to walking over the highway interchange to walking in front of the Rio casino. There's tons of traffic everywhere; just obey the walk signals and you'll be fine.

I swear 2p2 is the nittiest site on the planet - if you are too broke to get a $5 Uber then what are you doing in Vegas?
