Howdy,
I have some friends heading over (late March) and was thinking of tagging along. It would involve 24 hours of flying to get there so I had a few questions.

What rooms would you recommend for low stakes hold 'em and PLO?
Is the action looser on weekends? Are there LA dudes in town getting wasted and burning stacks? Are there any regular tournaments say $50 - $100 buy-in, that anyone would like to recommend. Prefer straight freezeout.

Any other tips for first time visit (playing poker) to Vegas?

Thanks in advance

If you fly 24 hours to play with wasted LA dudes, wouldn’t it be easier to fly to LA instead of Vegas?

For daily tournaments, the search function is going to find you a couple recent threads. Cliff note: low buy-in means relatively high rake % means hard to beat.

If you ask about hold’em, is that fixed limit? Rake in the lowest limit games is also almost unbeatable. Low stakes no limit hold’em is available anywhere that has a poker room.

Yes the action is better on weekends and later in the evening the better too. Sleep in or walk around during morning or afternoons and start later and play into the morning if you want best games.

Download Bravo app and look at the various rooms. All have promotions, games running and tournaments.

Where are you flying from? I’m guessing South Africa or SE Asia.

The Aria and Wynn both are great Saturday dailies - if you are playing a single tourney the benefit of being in a nice casino outweighs rake concerns - both are beautiful properties and each has good 2-5 plo action for after you bust.

Well, it seems more like Petro-cents if you are asking for tournaments in the $50 - $100 range

Edit - I hope you'll spend a significant amount of time in town after such long flight ...

Yeah, yeah, working on that but I am not a sheikh.

It is a me trip away from the wife and kids so it won't be too long. Need to justify it all. Hopefully it would be profitable.

Convince your buddies to goto macau. Better experience and easier to get to from Middle East imo

The state of poker in Vegas will likely leave you unsatisfied in 2019, given your perception of drunk LA dudes which probably doesn’t happen as much as you’d think
