My math might be way off but there is Three 8 hour shifts per day, so 21 shifts per week.
A full time employee would cover 5 shifts a week. So it is slightly over a total of 4 full time employees is all that is need and for only 6 weeks, at what $10-11/hr.

And I am talking about 1 person on duty at all times driving around in a vehicle of golf cart making like 10 minutes rounds to cover the whole lot(Just WSOP lot). That would be enough to deter something like this.

15-17hr more like it but seems about right

Sounds like you guys have never seen that parking lot if you think 1 guy can deter robberies.

Sounds like they have never heard of a union if they think 1 guy is going to ride around in a golf cart continuously for 8 hours.

As the Rio stated, if you want security in the parking lot, just ask for an escort. It's pretty simple. I've done it at other casinos when I had thousands on me. (And if you are a decent human being, you tip, but it is free.)

Parking lot security is all about deterrence, not actually intervening in an active robbery so LOL that they would need an army of armed security patrolling. A couple of golf carts driving around during nighttime hours would likely be enough to prevent the guys from lying in wait.

They could ask all of the vloggers to fly their drones around the parking lot at night. A1 surveillance

These seem to work good. I have seen them at Walmart and at Hard Rock in Tampa.

This is at a Target parking lot in Texas. Golf cart and guy on a horse with a cowboy hat. Get outta here with the argument that the Rio can’t cost justify a few of these in there parking lot. Freaking Caesars Casinos are a bunch of penny pushers.

I think the thing you are missing is that parking lot security is there to grab shoplifters running out of the store, they really aren't there to protect customers. Likewise, that ain't casino money getting stolen in the parking lot.

Out of the 3.5 Million visitors to Vegas every month, what percentage do you think are even aware somebody got jacked in the Rio Parking Garage?

I actually think the main reason there in the lot is to ensure people don’t have any type road rage fights, park illegally, prevent fights etc. It’s amazing how stupid people actin a parking lot. I do think a second reason is to prevent robberies and last to to stop shoplifters.

Actually forgot one of the most obvious reasons is to protect customer property, not necessarily armed robberies but to prevent car break-ins.

Rio isn't hiring any security for the parking lot because people still go there anyway.

This is true sadly. I think the primary difference between what I see in Houston vs. places like the Rio is these strip malls plazas are usually owned and operated by a separate company than the tenants. The tenants push the landlords for this security measure.

Exactly. You've got casinos with resort fees, paid parking, nickel and diming everything, and you expect them to pony up dough to pay for security even though they're getting literally record-breaking turnouts for tournaments (big 50, colossus, etc etc) without it?

I mean sure, it'd be nice if the casinos gave a crap about player safety, but as long as they keep raking in that revenue, they probably couldn't care less.

They did hire outside security starting last year (I think) that wear cool looking shirts and are muscled up. I guess they are meant to make us think they are ex-military like Blackwater or something, but I didn't see a single one of them wearing body armor, so I'm doubtful. They were all inside though, not outside anywhere that I saw.

Ironically, the best armored up guys I saw were in Bally's of all places. Some of their security wear hard armor (stops rifle bullets).

Did Caesar's make the statement about security escorts or post it somewhere prior to the WSOP? Nope. Lol at them having enough security escorts for the increased WSOP player volume, although obviously not everyone would need one. They made that statement AFTER the incident. Why? Damage control. They know they were negligent with a lack of an increased security presence in the parking lot with what they could obviously FORESEE as an increased visitor volume requiring an increased security presence. A judge would easily arrive at this determination. An increased security presence serves as a deterrent. Criminals use a security presence as a factor in deciding whether to commit a crime or not. The victim probably won't sue because he's a pro player, but I bet Caesar's hired more parking lot security after this to cover their asses in the future.

Just about any casino you can get an escort to the parking lot. I won like 8k in a tourney in Florida and got one. Not that I have never had that much in my pocket before, but having a poker room of 200 people watch you get paid and then walking to the garage is different.

Yes, I've always known that I could ask for an escort if I wanted one -- I didn't have to read it or see a sign posted. How many people would read a sign posted by a casino, anyway -- or have read the rules, etc., of the casino? I never have (yet I knew about security escorts)

Now, whether Rio has enough, I have no idea. You might have to wait a little while, but seems worth it to me.

Doubt that the Rio added a single FTE to their workforce because of this incident. ... They may have altered deployment of security to better cover the parking area(s), but I doubt they hired a single sddtional guard.
