Poker in Nevada outside of Vegas or Reno Poker in Nevada outside of Vegas or Reno

Looking for some advice. Am looking to do a roadtrip on Highway 50 through the small towns/cities of Nevada. Was just wondering if there is any chance of any live cash outside of Vegas/Reno that I could experience during the evenings/during driving breaks.

I did once do a couple of small towns that had 'casinos' that were really just a bar with a 100 slot machines so was wondering if there is any live action out there in the more rural parts of Nevada.

Thanks

West Wendover, NV has poker, two (perhaps more) rooms, including the Wendover Nugget and the Peppermill. It's way over on the east side of the state, though.

I took that drive some years back (maybe 2008-9 ish), so things may be different. I don't recall seeing any games, and that was when poker was big.

Seems like the Hotel Nevada in Ely had a table, but it only ran on weekends or something.

It's a quiet, desolate drive. Make sure to gas up when you can, and bring water. Some nice scenery here & there.

Thanks a lot for the tips so far. Don't mind if a casino/game is out of the way as there would be no set itinerary, so I'll certainly check to see if Hotel Nevada has a game. The reason I asked here was I kind of assumed they would run only a couple of times a week in these places and hence I doubt these casinos have Bravo. And yeah on my very first road trip in the US I was VERY unprepared for he distances involved so I won't be naive when it comes to having supplies!

I grew up in Wendover, UK so sounds like visting West Wendover NV is a must!

Unrelated to your question:

A few months ago I had some eBook credit on Amazon and used it to buy:

Blackjack Autumn: A True Tale of Life, Death, and Splitting Tens in Winnemucca

Really cool read. Written in the late 90's.

No.

(You expecting to find something like the movie Tombstone, are ya ? Try, "Paul" instead.)

You're welcome.

I'm not sure how much it qualifies exactly what you're looking for but its definitely not vegas or reno. Laughlin has two poker rooms Riverside, and Harrahs. Laughlin always looks nice to me in pictures, right on the Colorado River there, I should go down there one of these days.

I stayed at the Hotel Nevada 10 or so years ago. Cool low roller place. Evidently a lot of movie stars stayed there in the 30s and 40s - many of the rooms are named after them. Room was okay for me - think decent Quality Inn.

The first floor had a Dennys, registration desk and slot machines. There is (was) a basement with a poker table, roulette, couple of blackjack and maybe a wheel. It was open evenings only. The poker game only ran on Saturday nights - pot limit holdem - it was an interesting game - 1/2 regulars and 1/2 tourists. Can't remember that much except for one guy - a dentist who said he drove up from LA (couldn't imagine driving all that way past Vegas to get to Ely but whatever) anyway after a couple of hours he called out to the 80 plus waitress - "can you get me some grub over here ?". Almost fell off my chair.

Checked their website and didn't see any mention of poker or table games so best to call first. As others have noted it is way in the middle of nowhere. That trip I flew into Salt Lake and drove to Lake Tahoe and back hitting all the poker rooms I could find including side trips to Jackpot, Fallon and Ely.

Drove to Ely from Great Basin Natl Park (the week the Park first was opened). The drive from Las Vegas to Great Basin then up to to Ely and back to Las Vegas is a great desert drive, a different route than just taking Route 50.

(I was staying by Great Basin, not in Ely. I was in Ely only during one day, do not recall any action in any casino, played blackjack a couple of hands and headed back South.)

I remember seeing a single table at the nugget in Pahrump a while back... also Ive seen tables down by the river in Laughlin.

Cali games are only an hour or two across the boarder.
