Ok, his original $4 is already in the pot. At the moment he says “pot” a competent dealer would tell him it’s $37.

For the love of god just always use the shortcut: 3x the last bet plus whatever else is in the pot (excluding what is in front of you)

Exactly! It's not rocket science.

Rounding up is standard in many omaha games, so $41 would go to $45.This speeds the game as it makes it easier for dealers and players.
Rounding up preflop is also common. The first player can open for 5x the big blind. In a 1-3 ,game the opener can come in for 15 even though that would not be the true pot bet. In a 1-2 game the opener can come in for 10.. This also speeds up the game.

Yes, but that depends on the game. Some games count their blinds differently, too. This is 1/1 and it doesn't sound as if they round up, although who knows? Maybe some dealers do and some don't, which is part of the problem

Sounds like joker poker to the extreme.

Go play at the ARIA - better card room, better strip location, better action.

The Flamingo game is good for beginners. 1/1. Lower buy in. Less stressful room.

From my understanding the game only runs about 5-6 weeks a year, and then never runs again until the next wsop. And they have different rounding rules pre and post flop.

Pre flop rules: true pot (opening pot is $4 unless straddle, then it's $8)

Post flop rules: pot is rounded up to nearest $5 increment. (Pot is $42, opening pot would be $45)

Hope this helps.

Is this from the Flamingo rules?

Untrue. It ran in March when I was there.

No limit cap would be interesting.

Gotcha - never played anywhere outside of Wynn/Venetian/Aria for PLO so wasn't sure how good the games were elsewhere.

Best way to keep it going is to establish a regular game at the same day(s) and time(s) every week.

I'll just jump in to digress and say that one of the 1-1 PLO games at Flamingo I played the week of the Fourth was literally the most miserable poker table I've ever played. All "hometown pros" taking shots of Don Julio (which should have made it fun, but didn't), talking bad strategy, thinking they're hilarious, and alienating the other players. Just the worst.

Other tables were fun, though, including a table full of Australians, including an Australian from Ireland with a heavy Irish accent.

Players "helping" me while I'm dealing PLO or doing side pots are the bane of my existence. Just watch me and let me know if I make a mistake. Multiple players shouting conflicting instructions just gums things up and makes it more likely I'll make a mistake.

Then again, I know what I'm doing. I don't know the best way to handle dealers who are lacking the basic abilities.

Apparently Caesars is running it with $3 rake on Wed and Fri. I'll probably go Wednesday night.

I've checked for weeks on Bravo and this game never runs.

If you are complaining about the amount of a raise being off by less than $20, you are too nitty to play PLO. I play 2000 hours of PLO a year and it happens all the time. The good thing about PLO is that the NL nits and douches stay in the 2 card game. Lighten up and have a beer. When the dealer messes up, throw him a buck and laugh it off. Life is too short to be pissed off at things your can't change.

you're ignoring the scale of the game. $20 in the flamingo 1-1 game is typical stack size equivalent of being off by $100 in the Aria 1-3 game.
