Hi,

Can anyone comment on the 1-2 -5 PLO game at the WSOP? I would normally play 5/5, which I know is a 5-5 -10 game at the WSOP with an optional Mississippi straddle, but I'm considering playing smaller. In the 1-2 -5 game, what are the average stacks? Is there typically action or is it a nit-fest?

Thanks.

Right, that's what I meant by it's playing as 5-5 -10 with the optional Mississippi straddle, right? The mandatory 10 is UTG as I understand it.

Can anyone comment on the 1-2 -5 PLO game?

Thanks.

1-2-5 games are soft. If your table is nitty, then move to another. Usually between 5-7 tables running. Max buy in is $500, stacks get a lot deeper if you are at a good table.

How are they compared to the other games in town (i.e. the Venetian or Wynn PLO games)?

1/2/5 PLO is my preferred drunk poker game. Based on a small sample size, I'd say it is roughly comparable to the Venetian and better than the Wynn. Usually see flops mega-multiway for $5, with most people only potting with AAxx or KKxx. You do see a few tight games, but then you should move ASAP.

I see the Flamingo has been getting a 1-1 plo game. Any other low limit plo games on the strip?

I'm no PLO expert but any 1-1 game sounds horrible if they're gonna rake $5 and take $1 for promo.

I am not sure what the drop is. But you could be right. I haven't played any PLO outside of a home game and have played very little of that. I was looking to play while in Vegas in a couple weeks at a good/lower buy-in game to get my feet wet.

Any suggestions on where to play?

One of the 1/1 games that ran was a total gamble fest and had a lot of $1,000 plus pots. Joey said he won one that was over $6,000.

I've never seen that 1-1 PLO at the Flamingo actually run. Harrahs has a 1-1 PLO on Monday nights that usually gets going.

I was just there, stayed at the Rio and played a couple sessions of 1-2-5. Games there are standard juicy. You see a lot of bad players short-stacking with $200-$300 but you also see a lot of deep stacks as well.

However, the format and structure of the game absolutely sucks:
1) It's a 1-2-5 game, blinds are 1-2, and the button is the 5. BUT action actually starts with the SB, wtf?

2) They have no auto-shufflers, so it's all hand-shuffled (slower obv).

3) You can't buy chips at the table and you can't have money behind. So you have to get chips at the cage before you sit down, and you also have to go to the cage if you bust or want to top off. I didn't know this the first time which cost me money in value. I had just lost a big pot and my stack was down to $400, I was planning on going to the cage after the next hand but then I got involved in the hand, got it all-in on the flop and won. Lost $100 in value there. After that session, I learned to just buy more chips at the cage and have em ready in my pocket.

4) No hourly poker comps. Unlike all the other poker rooms which offer hourly comps, the WSOP games do not offer it. If you "play for a long time" then you can talk to a floor-man who MAY decide to give you a $10 comp.

5) And lastly this is probably the worst aspect of the game, it's a timed-rake! $7 every half-hour, so $14 an hour! You pay that regardless if you win a pot or not. For a TAG player like myself, that's very detrimental. You can easily sit there for 2 or 3 hours and not win a single pot. Yet you're still required to pay that rake the entire time, it sucks. Compare that to the Aria which rakes up-to $5 per pot. At a rate of $14 an hour, you would need to win 3 pots an hour, every hour, for it to be comparable. Pretty ridiculous.

Given all those reasons, I'd rather play at Aria. They give you $2 an hour in comps which meant that I would get a free meal after every session lol. But the problem is that they only run 2 tables there and the wait-list is always sick long (you can call-in 2 hours beforehand doe).

I saw the Flamingo 1-1 game in the Bravo poker app, was curious about it myself lol.

I've been wanting to check out the convention center with the hundreds of tables for a while cause I haven't been there yet. But that alone makes me want to not go and play at the Rio hotel instead. You can't have money in your pocket? WTF kind of rule is that? They must have had issues with people trying to sneak extra chips north of the max buy in onto the table.

you can have chips in your pocket and add on. you can't buy in at the table, they don't have chip runners and cash doesn't play.

Oh OK that's less horrible. Sorry for a slight derail but how much is rake for 2/5 NL there? Also what's the max buy in?

Dealers at the WSOP aren't the best too. PLO generally gets less hands/hr as well. Lot more hands that get to the river. Lot more hands that get all in, ran twice, and dealer has to figure out how to split a 4way all in pot that's ran twice. Makes the $14/hr more absurd, but the games are certainly good.

TRUTH. Omg so true, I forgot to mention it but yea the dealers were generally pretty bad. Some of them didn't know know how count the pot, how much someone could open for, how to split quartered pots, etc. Some dealers were actually taking directions from players...Ridiculous. And most of em dealt super slow as well.

There was one egregious dealer, a Chinese lady, she didn't speak English and she completely did not know how to run it twice. Two people got it all-in on the flop and agreed to run it twice and she literally had no idea wtf was going on. The players had to tell her step-by-step what to do. "just deal it out first", "ok now burn another card, now deal another turn, now burn another card, and now deal the river again".

I don't know if anyone mention this the 1/2/5 PLO game at the RIO while been soft it's also time rake.
This can be very tilting specially when you get rake twice in 5min because floor didn't come around to verify the amount and dealer can't drop it until they are verified.
Where as Encore and other properties just do regular rake and use machine shuffle.

I played it one night on way back to my room from the rio. Lost 500 but it was a good game, came back next night to start the game and ended up winning 2700 and if i was playing in the rio game or Venetian I might of been up 200 cause the hands I was getting paid off with was mind blowing guys asking to run it twice and were drawing dead. I ended up profiting 4400 in 12 days in that game. Game usually start at 9pmish

Stop being a rake nit. You are still only getting raked twice an hour and you had the opportunity to get a free twenty minutes or so if you racked up before they were late collecting time.

Venetian runs a 1/2 PLO game quite regularly. But then you have to be OK playing at a place owned by Sheldon Adelson.
