That looks like a fantastic meal with great company!

...I really hope the world has turned the corner on all this Covid business and these kinds of things don't seem so far away

A middle aged woman playing PLO is quite the rare sight I imagine

And so I continue

During dessert, hubby calls the tire place and we hear, "Oh, oh, no." We think it's the car, but my husband hangs up and quotes the tire guy: "These people, the get shoot." So, less than two hours after my husband walks to Fremont Street, there is a shooting right in front of the tire shop. Three people shot, four suspects -- not sure what finally happened. So we take an Uber trip back to Paris and hubby and I head to Aria for PLO.

Ugh. I wish I had good news, but it did not go well. We sat at the 5/5 w/ rock, which we've played many times before, but it was a bunch of gamble and we just didn't have the luck needed. I was also tired and didn't feel like buying in deep, so played short. Called it a night when my AAXX for $250 pre flopped top set and lost to 5s8sJhQh that hit a gutshot on the river. Granted, I didn't have enough to shove him off A76 rainbow -- 4 on river and I'm gone Should have moved to the 1/2 PLO, but was too stubborn and wanted to play the last night with hubby. Stupid. He didn't have any better luck than I.

Oh, well. I was up $100 in cash, down a few hundred in tourneys, and up $100 in other games.

Unfortunately, it got worse. Dad took us to the car rental place on Tuesday, and hubby had forgotten to rent the car! There are zero cars available, so we head to Flagstaff w/ Dad (on his way home), but there are no cars in Flagstaff, so we end up renting one in Prescott, AZ, but there are no Hilton rooms available! Ugh. We get a room a few miles away in Prescott Valley. By the time we are checked in and head to dinner, everything is closed (8:00), so we end up at Texas Road House. I don't think I've eaten there in more than 30 years. Food was actually good, though, but the closest we got to steak was my dad's wife's beef tips

Prescott is a beautiful town, though, and if you ever go, I highly recommend Le Chat Azul, which is where we had lunch. Spent the next night in Flagstaff (left Prescott late because hubby had a webinar) and just got to Albuquerque to visit my stepdaughter this evening. Of course, the casino is closed due to covid

Wish I had better news. I can assure you that we had a blast -- and are still having fun. We head home Monday.

Happy Easter! Until next time, which right now is September. We might head to Tahoe or Reno in May. Thanks for reading.

El Gato Azul

Newt, you are/were stomping around my, errr, old stomping grounds. I was in Prescott just last weekend s'matter of fact, stayed overnight in Cottonwood celebrating our anniversary. Did you drive 89a from Sedona to Prescott? If so, you passed thru Cottonwood, Clarkdale and Jerome, which is one of my favorite places. A billion dollar copper mine, back in the day, now a resurgent former ghost-town.

Thanks again for the TR, and happy b-day.

You didn’t happen to see Andrew Neeme in that $5/$5 PLO rock game? That’s apparently his new main game.

Sadly, I wouldn't know. Between the masks and plexiglass and my state of mind, I wasn't really looking at people They all seemed like "regs," though. I definitely wasn't in the right state of mind to be in that game. I've played it a few times before and did well, but it was usually early in the trip with enough bullets to stay for a while and no wake-up time.

AzOther1, we took the fastest route, so probably missed it. Loved the area, though. Albuquerque not so much. Our woes continued as our rental car was broken into Saturday afternoon! My stepdaughter left her purse on the backseat (what woman does that?) and they broke the window, grabbed it, and proceeded to use her debit and credit card for ~$1,000 before she could get them canceled. Her new iPhone and passport were also in the purse.

We did enjoy a few nice meals, wine, and good food and had fun at Meow Wolf -- weird, but interesting. Glad it was only 50% capacity.

On a better note, we did get upgraded to first class for both legs home
