Thanks for the update. Im super late to this convo but I’ll share my experience maybe this can help other people. I played in south Florida and I wouldn’t recommended playing for a living anything less than 2/5. The problem is that there’s not enough 2/5 games running in SF to practice game selection. 2/5 runs in Magic City and the hard rock and I wouldn’t necessarily say these games are soft. IMO If you’re a good player there’s more money to be made in PLO. Any more questions about the SF poker scene feel free to ask.

I have to disagree. Ive been playing in S. Florida for 4+ years. There's plenty of 2/5 game selection here.

On a normal day depending on the time of day theres maybe

2-5 tables at Palm Beach Kennel Club
2-5 tables at The Isle
Up 8-10 tables at the Hard Rock
1-2 tables at Coconut Creek
1 table at Gulfstream

Then there's Magic City and Big Easy, (not sure about number of tables)

That's amazing game selection. Maybe as good as any place other than Vegas or L.A.

Since this thread opened, Texas has opened up. Houston and Austin should be in the conversation, in my view. Even Midland during the recent oil boom (which is over, at least for the moment) had more than enough soft action to be in play. Although Midland is not a fun place to live and it also carried an oil-boomtown cost of living.

Let me clarify myself. I lived in Miami so I was referring to the casinos within 30 minutes from Miami. Personally I’m not a fan of driving more than 30 minutes each way to play. That being said all the options you mentioned are more than 30 minutes away from Miami with the exception of Gulfstream and I wasn’t driving there for 1 of table of 2/5. Hard rock I had already mentioned in my post. 8/10 tables on some weekends and whenever there’s a big tournament series, definitely not a daily occurrence. All this being said it depends to what part of south Florida you move to. But plan on driving because the casinos are spread out. Forgot to mention big easy (Marti-grass) did not have 2/5 when I lived there. In fact i remember that poker room was shut down for while.

The Midland and Houston markets are going to dry up pretty hard because of the plummeting price of oil along with the global recession that is starting. Real estate will be real cheap in Midland pretty soon. There will be few cities in the US hit as hard in the upcoming years. Tons of people will be out of work and expect the population to fall pretty hard as people move away in hopes of finding employment. It will be like the 1980s all over again.

Texas Card House recently got approval from the Dallas City Council to open 2 poker rooms there. The City Council even changed zoning on both locations to allow them to open.

If they get them open, Dallas could easily be the best place in the Country for a poker pro, Low cost of living and plenty of money in the area. A huge percentage of the players at Winstar are from Dallas so there's no doubt Texas Card House in Dallas will be packed.

IMF predicting a larger shrink in the value of the global economy than that of Japan and Germany's combined. Table selection will be everything after all this ends, especially in up and coming places like Dallas.

Lots of chinese gamblers to get money from (when they are allowed to come back into the contry)....
