TwoPlusTwo LVL,

I’m trying to plan my second trip ever to the WSOP, but I have a question/concern:

I’m considering traveling either July 5-14 or July 10-17. I’m not a huge tournament player and will only be playing one while I’m there (either the 3k LHE 6max or the 3k HORSE). My concern is that during these dates (specifically the latter) cash game action will be dead given that it’s during the Main Event. Can anyone attest to the cash game action during that time frame? I have no interest in playing the Main, and want to just grind either LHE or mix games.

Thanks in advance!

It’s hard to predict what will happen this year because it’s the first time they will have a full tournament schedule next to the ME.

In the past, action started to drop significantly after ID4 and ME start. Even with the WSOP still in full effect, there will be less regular tourists after ID4. The height of pool party season that starts at MDW ends because it’s getting too hot outside and there aren’t that many big conventions in the summer.

How on earth does this deserve its own thread? This belongs in the general questions thread

Then move it dude. I’m obviously a noob who only has 15 posts. It’s an honest mistake and I’m just looking for honest advice. Don’t be a troll.

The OP clearly deserves their own thread because 1) it deals specifically with travel to LV and 2) raises issues about expectations during a specific window of time. While not a mod, I don't see anything objectionable about a player raising questions in such a manner. It is clearly the correct forum.

Whining and moaning about someone wanting to know reasonable expectations is about on par with the oblivious nature of the hoodie-wearing idiots at tables that don't understand why it makes sense to keep a recreational player engaged and willing to keep reloading. A player having fun is good for a healthy live environment. Yet people like you would rather chase them away...

Don’t worry about it, if a mod (= not 9hilikeabos) thinks your question belongs in a general thread, he will move it for you and let you know.

There’s a button to report a post if you think it isn’t in the appropriate place. Mods will get a notification about those. Posting in the thread doesn’t do anything good and leads to unnecessary derailing.

I would expect that there will still be plenty of LHE/mix running at Bellagio, even during the main. You are correct that the earlier time period will probably have some more action, due to closer proximity to the LHE events.

Again, no idea what happens this year late during the WSOP, but recently Bellagio mix games usually meant only 30/60 or sky high and LHE was only 20/40 and/or 40/80.

I assumed OP was looking to play at least 20/40, but FWIW I've always seen 9/18 (or is it 10/20?) LHE running during WSOP.

Correct. I play 20/40 and higher, both when I’ve traveled to Vegas in and at my home casinos.

Considering that it is a game that will run at Bellagio during February, March and April (all times when I have seen it, including now on Bravo), I would expect you SHOULD be able to find $20/40 in July. I have also seen $9/18 on their boards, although often in the morning hours.

Orleans MIGHT have something but they tend to get more of the Limit Omaha games running.

I just don't keep that much of an eye on LHE boards...sorry cannot be of more help. But a game like that is something you should be able to track on Bravo in the next few weeks to gauge local regularity.

As others have said, there was always at least 1 game of 20/40 LHE during both March and April, with much bigger crowds (even though it falls close to the ME) you should not have any problem with finding a game.

I've been there several years during these times. Can confirm cash game action will be alive and well during these times. Most people that go out there don't play the main event, and of those that do, a majority want to hop into cash games right after they bust. Vegas cash games are the best they are all year during the WSOP.

You must love “what’s the softest 1-2 game” threads
