My wife is attending a conference at the MGM Grand during the 2nd weekend of April & I will be joining her with a ton of free time. I'll have the the morning & afternoon of a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. I was wondering which poker rooms are must see & must plays while there.

I'm strictly a tournament guy so I've been focusing on the daily tournaments. Three tournaments popped out at me:the 10am $125 at Caesar's Palace, the 11am $85 at the MGM Grand & the 1pm $125 at the Aria. The week I'm going the Venetian has a poker series going on and the tournament going on during the day is out of my price range & is a multi-day, multi-flight tournament where Day 2 after I leave.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Is it worth the walk over to play the 1PM $125 Aria if staying at Planet Hollywood where they also have a 1pm ..but its $80 with a $1500 gtd slapped on it?

Ummmm....YES!!!! Aria will have much more in the prize pool. $80 buy-in and $1500 guarantee is just over 20 players (accounting for rake). Aria averages 50+ most weekdays, and it's just a much better tournament experience. Great structure, great room.

Aria has by far the best structure of any tournament in the $100 price range with almost no missing levels. It also gets the most runners (regularly 80-90)

Relatively speaking, PH is absolute garbage (short clock, skips some levels) but is better than most other tourneys below $100. All other structures I've seen skip so many levels they're not worth it.

Aria is hands down the best structure, but might not be the best for OP. You could easily end up playing until 8-9pm which may interfere with wife time.

It is. As has been said, Aria has one of the nicest poker rooms in Vegas. Just know this: give yourself plenty of time to walk from Planet Hollywood to Aria. It "looks" like it isn't that far, but once you enter the Aria property, it'll seem like a 4 mile walk through the property until you reach the poker room.

Facts. Just prepare yourself for a lot of walking in general. Everything is far.

Not sure if it's faster but from PH, i'd walk through the Bellagio and take the tram over. It drops you off right by the poker room.

Definitely not faster. Take the footbridge to Cosmo then walk through Crystals

Pro tip: After you exit Crystals, don't enter Aria right there to your right. Instead, walk along the sidewalk past the valet, past the wall fountain and enter that set of doors. Poker room is right there next to the burger joint.

This is what I did. The distance from the foot bridge entrance to Crystals to the poker room felt like it was miles...

Good advice here. I wish I would have known this last time I was in Vegas...

If you want to go for good structure with a decent amount of players, play the 1pm at Aria. If you want a 4-5 hours tourney and meet up with your wife, then play the 2pm 150$ at Caesars. First prize money is still ok.

I don't believe this way is any shorter and why would you want to walk outside when you can be inside with air conditioning?

Walking outside is absolutely shorter, no questions asked. Air conditioning? It’s not even hot in Vegas when he’s going. There is usually a cool breeze walking by the water wall outside. I’ll take that over noise and smoke any day.
