Thinking of watching a movie or 2 in between all the poker the next 5 days. Anyone been to the Orleans theatre? Will be there some anyways so looking at convenience factor. Any reason to stay away? Thanks.

I thought the theater was great. Saw both Black Panther and Infinity War there. Both times the theater was basically empty, reasonably priced and you can reserve seats online- for the chairs that recline like loungers! Can't believe it's not more crowded but maybe I'm just used to ****e movie conditions.

It gets plenty crowded on weekends and some evenings, especially if you see a new release. You saw old movies. They have one XD theater which is very nice for action flicks.

The theater is very comfortable, they have the power reclining leather chairs. They have decent selection of moves, candy is a little limited. You can now get beer there if you want. They use to have a special on Tuesday for $5. Go there all the time, it is my go to theater, also the Palms isn't bad either.
You can use the kiosk to get your tickets and select your seats and not have to wait in line, 4 or 6 machines.

Can't wait to go see "The Happytime Murders" When it comes out

Great reclining seats in the movie theaters. I saw Trooper and PokerKraut there on two separate occasions, not with each other.

The seating is common to Cinemark/Century theaters. The Orleans' theaters are Century.

Went last night, seen Ocean's 8, theater was empty, only about 20 people in there. Movie was not that good either.

One might have had something to do with the other.

No, and once you do factor in ticket inflation it's basically a wash between them...all of the previous ones opened in the mid to high $30m range.

Point of course is that the movie still made a lot of money and was #1 this past weekend. And since I'm bored, pedantic and have access, I looked up the Orleans gross on the movie and it did about 2.5x the national theater average so it did well there.

great place for movies and is usually empty during the day. I think they do a $5 tuesday or something (may just be for locals).

Their buffet is pretty cheap compared to strip buffets and has some good items in there. All you can eat crawfish if you like that its a steal...

the $5 deal is for anyone. but that deal unfortunately draws in massive packs of olds so it kinda sucks especially if what u want to see is in one of their smaller theaters.

You can use your poker points to see a movie, but you have to buy the passes at the B-Connected promotions desk. I think it only costs $7 in points so it's a better deal to spend points that way than at a restaurant, except on Tuesdays.

It's an unfair comparison.

Deadpool 2 opened to $125m which was considered a slight disappointment based on expectations (it will gross less than it's predecessor), but will still be very profitable for Fox.

Solo opened to $84m and Disney is going to lose $100-150m on the film. It cost about twice as much to make as Deadpool 2.

Ocean's will be profitable for Warner Bros. They'll gross in the neighborhood of $300-400m worldwide off a $70m budget, and probably keep making more of them.

Movies live in their own buckets, with different budgets and different expectations. If the next Marvel title opened to $41m it would be an unmitigated disaster but that's a solid opening for Ocean's, and for something like A Quiet Place (which opened to $50m) a grand slam.

right - but I though you were trying to make the case that O8 was very successful movie overall and an empty theater where it was playing was an anomaly.

(I see the 125 million domestic number now - somewhere had 160 million)
