Hi leon, and thanks for the content update. Too bad the original thread will die eventually now. Not to derail, but 2 tips, one for each person individually, and one for the community:
1. Set the forum posts per page low. You don't really want 100 posts at a time anyway, the last couple dozen ought to be plenty and if not there are ways to catch up without loading too much at one time.
2. Don't quote multiple pictures

Oh my - 100 posts/page has been 2p2 canon since the beginning. This may be good advice but seems blasphemous.

Subbing

Good luck as always.

Please no one quote Leon's posts that contain lots of photos cuz that's what probably fcked up the last thread's loading time!

Leon's hits still amaze me. I torched $1000 so easily at 10-Line .05 Ultimate X the other day that I'm still aalty about it.

Then again, I'm sure Leon is pumping an insane volume that just doesn't translate through pics and his stories.

I addressed this a while ago. Basically he and my mom split up a while ago. He's in Taiwan and she's here with me. Practically, this means that he can't easily get to/from Vegas from Taiwan. Because they didn't end on good terms, my mom has asked (and he's agreed) that he not play at the Wynn. He's been to the Aria twice since they split up.

I haven't used my parents' comp in years, but that's mostly bc the Wynn really tightened up "side" benefits. My host used to give me extra bc of my dad but he stopped doing that a while ago. Since I'd guess 2020, in the middle of my run, my play has been just as big as my dad's anyways (I just donk off less, play better, don't play slots, etc). And they cut my comp anyways. So no, I've been on my own for a while now.

It's interesting going with my mom and using my comp to treat her, total role reversal from before

Yeah me getting in 2000 hands with 1k in is a huge anomaly. Usually when things are cold I lose about 1k per 7500$ coin in. And you know how much volume I put in.

Sorry to hear about your parents. Out of curiosity, have you yourself been interested in seeing what kind of comps your dad has been getting at Aria compared to the Wynn?

I know you've thought about moving casino loyalty in the past but decided to stay with the Wynn (for now) but I imagine the Aria perks might not be too shabby either.

Might be nice staying at Aria once in a while. I've always liked it there and you'd enjoy new restaurants.

What casinos have the best VP pay tables that Leon will obviously want?

Aria (except Sky suites) sucks compared to Wynncore. It’s not even comparable. Arias rooms are pretty outdated and in dire need of remodelling. The penthouses at Sky suites might be worth it but I think overall Wynns perks and rooms are miles better.

Edit: also during my most recent visit I would say 75% of VP machines are gone and have been replaced by either regular slot machines or horrible pay table VP with no UX or TDB. If I remember correctly entire Aria has like 4 banks of UX left and maybe a dozen or so of TDB and most of them are single line.

As far as my parents, it's better for everyone this way. Everyone's able to live their lives, esp my mom. She definitely had caregiver burnout syndrome, was losing her hair and probably was clinically depressed when she was with my dad. She's like night and day now.

This. I've never liked the Aria- hate the layout, the crowds, etc. I'd totally be down with some of their restaurants but that's about it. I did look into them when I was considering moving from the Wynn but it would be a step down for sure. Plus what I've been doing for the last couple of years is checking out other properties and restaurants every time I go- I'd rather pay out of pocket for those other places than play elsewhere and dilute my comp. One way or the other my play will remain only in one place if I can help it.

On a related note to go with the new thread, leon, it was interesting to go back just now to 2016 and see how your phone/camera, and/or photography skills, along with story-telling and food porn have improved over the years

LOL thx I think? I have to thank Gobbo, my wife and a few other posters for improving my photo game. Or maybe it's that I have a decent iphone now instead of my 5 that I carried around for years. OR, I actually take the time to try and take good pics now.

As far as the stories, I actually think I've gotten better there. I think I have a better handle on what details most people will find interesting, etc. Some of the better TRs here have helped with that as well.

Can't believe I'm subbing for a VP thread, but just read through the last three trips of the original thread and really enjoyed it. Food pics/reports are incredible, and the VP stories are fun to read, even when you lose, but I like the winning better.

Will be in Vegas with my husband, dad and stepmom, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and cousins-in-law later this month. We are low-rollers, though. I have planned un-poker events for them: Going to Absinthe, dinner at Biwon, and taking my 84-yr-old MIL ziplining! Otherwise, I plan to play poker.

I have been reading up on VP, though, and hope to find a machine to plop them down in front of An recommendations are welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to share your Vegas life with us.

Did Aria re-open their high limit room? I saw they opened up a small high stakes slot room recently but the older room was being remodeled a few months ago and teased as a newer high stakes area. (Maybe it'll just be tables)

I think it’s open already yeah. But the high stakes VP banks are inside of the high stakes slot room, the new one.

They did. Still some slots in there, along with tables. Majority of high limit slots are across the way in the fancy wood paneled high stakes slots room. Don’t know why they have two.

To answer my own question, yes it did a few weeks ago apparently.

Define how low a roller.

Regardless, the best place for VP is the Orleans, not on the Strip. Second best place is South Point, also not on the Strip. The 20th best place is probably Paris, but it's the best on the Strip for your requirements. Its has sub-dollar availability. Note that sub-dollar denominations will probably use an even crappier paytable.

If you decide to try Orleans, I would suggest at least dimes. That way you get $400 if you hit a royal, which is just enough to make you mad you weren't playing dollars, but still a nice little chunk of coin. I would not suggest playing progressives as that requires a slightly different strategy, but it's not the end of the world and the payoffs are usually big.

I do suggest finding machines with multipliers, as that adds to the excitement. I was playing dollars once, multiple hands, and the multipliers started coming in at 10x, the max. I was waiting on the 5th card with the possibility of a few hundred grand if it was the right card. I didn't get the royal, but it was fun watching it play out.

Thank you, pig4bill. Very helpful. Will definitely try to get to Orleans or South Point -- maybe Red Rock. Seems like the same "type" of casino, so maybe they have cheap, decent VP, too.
