Now that you’ve had a $200k hit do you think there’s gonna be a temptation to move up in stakes more permanently to try to chase the rush or are you gonna be happy to stick with the stakes you’ve been playing?
I'm gonna mostly stay where I'm at for survival reasons. Late 2021 I had a 300k roll and between downswong and taxes managed to give back 200k of it! I remember donking off 50k in ONE DAY at the local, playing exactly what I was playing (50c, 100 lines), and when the dust settled I was like "WTF did I just do". The session was just pure ice and somehow I got it in my head that it couldn't possibly remain this bad for this long. Duh.
Bottom line I remember being super flush before and playing over my head and forgetting how fast one can lose too. The reality is I'm underrolled for anything routinely > 150$/push. I'm not going to make that mistake again. If I can't learn from my previous idiocy then that's ridiculous. Also, the thought of smaller 5 figure hits is still exciting and fun.
Luckily, I basically can't play bigger at the local- they've capped 99% of the machines at denoms at or below where I want to play (ex, Ultimate X if you want to play 1$ credits it's max 3 lines). So I'm totally content to continue what I've been doing, survive at the 25c level and periodically take shots at the 50c level. The Wynn offers such ridiculously big games I could busto myself in a trip if I tried. So I see myself playing in a similar fashion there, perhaps more willing to take slightly bigger shots earlier on certain games. Eg if I would typically play 15-20 lines at 1$ there (that's the same or smaller than my usual at the local), I might start with 25-30 lines. I can't let myself go nuts though. I've lost 40-50k on multiple weekends at the Wynn just with pure run bad. The variance with higher base credits is just insane.
