Awesomeness, leon! Have fun with some of the winnings. Don't forget to buy Mrs. leon and the little leons something too. (Ever seen Let It Ride?)
Kids get a hundo in the college fund every time I hit over 10k. They're aware

Re: the horseshoe- I can't explain it other than I think I've been in such a mental funk the past few years with my neck and never really admitted it to myself. Now that I'm past it, I'm 100% optimism. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is to live life well, family, and friends. Every day since the surgery I wake up excited to be alive. It's been a long time since I've felt that way.

Unfortunately I found out from my buddy D today, AS I WAS TEXTING HIM THE BIG HITS, that he got laid off today. No warning, private company prepping to go public so they really F'd him. He's going with me and wife on the next Vegas trip. So we have more to do- knock one out of the F'ing park when he and I are partnered. He's been playing more video poker the last few months so it's time. Wynn, 100 lines, 1$ credits, 400k. I'm calling our shot now.

Leon, what do you this mega hit is gonna do for your stakes and play moving forward?

Now that you’ve had a $200k hit do you think there’s gonna be a temptation to move up in stakes more permanently to try to chase the rush or are you gonna be happy to stick with the stakes you’ve been playing?

I'm gonna mostly stay where I'm at for survival reasons. Late 2021 I had a 300k roll and between downswong and taxes managed to give back 200k of it! I remember donking off 50k in ONE DAY at the local, playing exactly what I was playing (50c, 100 lines), and when the dust settled I was like "WTF did I just do". The session was just pure ice and somehow I got it in my head that it couldn't possibly remain this bad for this long. Duh.

Bottom line I remember being super flush before and playing over my head and forgetting how fast one can lose too. The reality is I'm underrolled for anything routinely > 150$/push. I'm not going to make that mistake again. If I can't learn from my previous idiocy then that's ridiculous. Also, the thought of smaller 5 figure hits is still exciting and fun.

Luckily, I basically can't play bigger at the local- they've capped 99% of the machines at denoms at or below where I want to play (ex, Ultimate X if you want to play 1$ credits it's max 3 lines). So I'm totally content to continue what I've been doing, survive at the 25c level and periodically take shots at the 50c level. The Wynn offers such ridiculously big games I could busto myself in a trip if I tried. So I see myself playing in a similar fashion there, perhaps more willing to take slightly bigger shots earlier on certain games. Eg if I would typically play 15-20 lines at 1$ there (that's the same or smaller than my usual at the local), I might start with 25-30 lines. I can't let myself go nuts though. I've lost 40-50k on multiple weekends at the Wynn just with pure run bad. The variance with higher base credits is just insane.

Hey Leon,
Congrats on the big hit. Just curious as to what sort of comps you get from your local (if your willing to disclose)?
Thanks

Nope, basked in the glory, sent a bunch of texts etc then left the screen as is, for the next person to see...

The comps I use are food, monthly cash back and slot credit, and I've gotten a room there MAYBE twice since I've lived here? Certainly not as much as I could get. The restaurants just aren't great and I have no reason to use the rooms. It'd be nice to get more cash back etc but I've maximized that as far as I can tell (500-1000$ between that and mailers per month). Now that I think about it, starting this past year I've gotten comped tickets to the casino's private room at the Padres stadium, and I've scored some Billy Joel tickets as well (only 2 though). That's definitely a comp I'll be trying to take more advantage of this year.

Bottom line I could probably get more non-cash stuff from them but I just don't care to. It'd be pretty sweet if I could apply all that extra comp to the Wynn!

No point chasing comps when you can simply head down there and win $250k whenever you like

In the old days most casinos would ask you to "play off" big hits in their presence rather than leave them on the screen. If the player declined, then the slot attendants would play it off. I think they didn't want someone else coming in and claiming that they had just hit that. Newer tech obviously would prevent such scams from succeeding.
