IMO, that last update might be the most impressive yet. I just might do this Ultimate X Tournament at the Orleans this Friday. It only takes 100 points to qualify for a round. A weak $1k in Slot Dollars for first, but knowing that a run like this is possible is fueling my degen fire.

Interesting. But then the inevitable follows - they don't let you poop at the machine, do they?

Obv I've never tried, but I'd bet there are whales out there big enough that they'd be allowed to

It was just unreal, like it was scripted or fated. Last hundo... no SD gambling roll to speak of...

I never played a denom bigger than 50c. So sick. Can you imagine if I'd hit that dealt 4AWAK playing 60 or 80 lines???

But seriously, you prob don't have whale status at the quarter machines so you can't lock up a machine like at the Wynn. How do you take care of business without losing the machine? Will the slot attendant hold it for you for a $5 tip?

Well, you need to get 100 points, so not total freeroll. Too bad it's not at the Gold Coast where there are several 99+% machines.

OK I understand the question now. I just leave my card in and put my drink in an obvious position in front of the machine, etc. I do the same thing at the Wynn as well. I've never had someone come and sit in the interval but I suppose it's going to happen at some point.

As far as the 100 pts, I assumed that was something reasonably easy to get, and/or someone getting an invite to the tournament already had that.

Orleans has plenty of FP machines, and 100 points is $100 coin-in, so only about 5 minutes of play on a quarter machine.

omg why do you have to hit all this?! now i have try a VP run, and it's been ice-cold to me lately.

Congrats man. Did you have the same slot person coming to you each time? just wondering, how much tip do you give?

A few different attendants. I generally give 0.5-1% (split between two attendants), never less than 10$. So 10$ for anything 1.2k-close to 2k, 2kish-4k will be 20$. That 10k I gave 60$. I honestly could probably give less (some of the people in this casino never tip), and I certainly don't worry about not giving enough since I tip every time I hit. Less than 5$ per person seems too low, just my gut sense.

As the win goes up, the % definitely goes down- I'm not tipping 0.5% on a 100k score, for example. Most my dad and I have ever tipped was 500 I think when he hit 200k back in May 2016.

Tipping on handpays seems asinine to me. I don't understand why people have set that up to be a thing.

Because someone is actually doing something, schlepping your tax form and money to you. Not that it deserves a big tip, but more than the Sbarro guy that hands you your pizza. Yes, I get annoyed that every single credit card receipt in Vegas has a place for a tip. No, the Sbarro guy gets nothing (and likes it).

That's just their job doing a role that is mandated by the government. It's not like they get paid minimum wage. That job has to be decently paid. I'm a big tipper at restaurants and in the poker room in general but tipping for a hugely -ev thing just seems crazy to me.

Same thing why tipping the cashier in a poker room is so weird to me. It's just their ****ing job.

Not another tipping thread but curious about your thoughts on tipping for table games which are also -ev.

Dealers make **** and deal with a ton of player abuse. I'm fine tipping them, but tip way less than some people. Same deal with servers. Slot attendants I'm sure get paid fine and only a small part of their job is doing handpays.

I wish I didn't have to tip, but since it's customary I feel compelled to. Gobbo, suppose you hit a 2k jackpot on a slot knowing what you know- would you tip or not?

I'm not sure how much the slot attendants make as a base salary, but I have to figure they make less in tips than dealers. If I had to guess, it probably all evens out.

At the Wynn at least, the attendants go out of their way to help my dad- including helping him to/from his machine, "holding" his stuff when he loses it (he's lost his phone so many times and left cash in the machine more times than I want to think about), generally keeping an eye on him (they tried to warn off my wife one time when she was talking to him, they probably thought she was a "pro" as opposed to his daughter in law haha), and one time they helped him to his room when he stayed up too late playing and could barely move. So from that perspective at least, I think they "deserve" whatever tips they get. I agree the general idea of tipping an employee for simply doing their job and paying us OUR money is a little asinine but as it's customary what can you do? I'd rather spend the money than be thought of as "that guy".

Oh, one more thing- I often rein in my dad's tips when I feel he's overtipping (eg, 100 on a 4k hit). His response is usually, "I can make them happy by tipping them, as opposed to one more push on the machine". It's hard to argue with that. The EV part of me hates it, the part that recognizes we only have one life to live applauds it.

I wonder what it says about me when he hits something, I'm holding his money, he says "tip them 100" and I only give them 40?
