Another -3k month for me on Ultimate X, .10 cent 5 & 10 multi line. I think the biggest hand I've made was drawing a flush on a 4x multiplier after a 3of a kind hand. I've burned around 6k since the end of April looking for a score. Sadly, I'd have to draw a royal after 10x multiplier on all lines to break even.

With that said, this is my tenth or so retirement from multi line VP this year.

Man I wish my home casino had TDB UX. All they have is that crappy "bonus streak" UX where the variance is orders of magnitude higher than regular UX.

Just when I think I'm done with VP, I end up making a huge score and feel like I can play forever. Game is evil.

Funny you mention that. I just saw, and played, that Ultimate X Bonus streak for the first time, last Friday at MGM Grand, near the poker room.

I was a bit intrigued at first, but it is pure AIDS..after about 5 minutes, I left to find a standard Ult X machine..

For TDB at least you don't get multipliers unless you make trips or better, I'm assuming it's the same for all the game types.

I think the appeal of the game is supposed to be "increased chance you'll have a big multiplier somewhere" since when you make a multiplier hand on a multiplier, all the remaining multipliers turn to 12x. So you could have a string of several hands in a row where all the spots are 12x. Fine- now you just need to get dealt something and we know how rare that is.

I haven't seen a definitive strategy for the game, but intuitively it makes sense to hold 1 as opposed to 2 offsuit high cards to increase your chances of making trips. Gutshots and 3 flushes become relatively more valuable. Either way, I don't plan on playing more to figure it out.

Yeah, but getting hooked on multi-line and multipliers is all your fault.

Found a magnificent machine at the Orleans where I made quads 4 times in 30 minutes, including aces (!) and deuces. Wasn't TDB but even BP pays extra for those.

Tbh I didn't really even know how the game/multipliers worked.

I had just checked out of the hotel, and had less than an hour to squeeze in one last session before heading to the airport. The last thing I felt like doing was learning a new game.

I will put Ult X Bonus Streak on my list with Good Times Pay and Spin Poker as video poker games I don't ever need to play again..

I've tried almost all of these gimmick video poker games, and the only one I actually enjoy playing is Dreamcard. Super Times Pay and Hot Roll Poker are kinda fun, but the multipliers don't really come up that often. Dreamcard, on the other hand, comes up about half the time.
All the rest, as you mentioned, I really don't have any itch to play ever again.

I haven't played much Dreamcard, and my results are terrible, but I agree on the fun aspect- you CONSTANTLY draw at trips. Dealt quads are fairly common.

I have to admit, I'm just about hooked on multi-line now. Not Ult X, curse that POS. But Super Times Pay, it gets multipliers too, but seemingly at random. So far I've just been screwing around with it, guess I need to actually check the paytables and strategies.

Unfortunately (fortunately?) I've already made Diamond for the year and I'm not motivated/degen enough to make the huge investment to go for Seven Star.

edit: Oh crap, I just thought of something. I could try for high card status in the Boyd system and/or the Stations system. Boyd has Gold Coast, which has tons of full pay machines, and the Orleans, which has one of the best poker rooms in Vegas imo. Stations has Red Rock, which is a nice place, and has great paytables. They also bought the Palms, which I've never really liked much, but maybe they'll fix it up a bit. It would be nice to get status at the Wynn like our sensei, but no way I could afford it.

Yeah that's the main reason I fired the (small) bullet. I'm at 9,000 tc for the year and was about 75 short of 500 for the day so I was just trying to get the bonus. Ended up working out!

I wish I had video of the whole session, I was down to ~$5 at one point. I had to bet down to 5 credits per hand until I hit a few hands to get ultimate x again. I was in complete shock after the second handpay.

Red Rock has dreamcard!

Blech, hate Dreamcard. I think you have to pay double, 10 coins instead of 5, and I saw dealt trips (including Dreamcard) blank out about 10 or 15 times in a row. That doesn't happen normally. You get a boat or quads thrown in there at some point. STP you only have to pay 1 extra coin, 6 instead of 5, to get a chance of a multiplier.

Wait, are you claiming that FH's and quads occur less frequently at dreamcard than other games??

And just some quick math (I think it's right, but if it's not, it should be close) says that blanking out trips (no FH or quads) 15 times in a row happens about 18% of the time. So that's hardly super rare or anything.

Playing with fire there sir. I'm terrified of ever betting less than the max and then getting a dealt royal, 4 awak, etc. I think I'd either kill myself or rage-smash the machine and get 86'd.

Theoretically the math on all draws should be the same regardless of the game. I know I've been through cold patches on all forms of games where it seems like you can't even make a full, let alone quads. The only thing I don't like about dreamcard are the cold patches- they SEEM worse bc you get premium draws so much more often (but pay for it). To get the draws over and over, yet blank them all... that's a soul crusher.
