That'd be my guess, or some similar stink would be raised which ultimately would have been embarrassing for me. Even if I was able to play I don't think I would have enjoyed sitting next to someone while we were actively wishing death upon each other.

Oh I'm with you - I'm not a confrontational type either, just curious. I guess that's one silver lining to playing quarter single-line - no one's locking up those machines!

The magic question is whether this guy carries more weight than your dad. What was your sense? What do you think the Wynn would do if two whales on relatively equal footing got into it with each other and asked them to take a side. I guess they try to delicately walk that tightrope, but how? But boy oh boy if there ever was someone who needed a taste of his own medicine it's that guy.
It's an interesting question of how they would deal with two equals clashing. In the case of my dad and someone else my guess is they'd subtly take the other guy's side and hope my dad rolls over. He's established long ago he's an easy going person and takes care of the staff very well, so paradoxically they'll know the path of least resistance is to inconvenience the nice guy. Sad but true.

Yeah, that guy was a douche for sure.

In your hypothetical, I think Wynn should convert some machines or something so everyone can play what they want (if that's even possible).

Thanks for the report Leon, really enjoyed the comeback story!

Apparently it was the same progressive that hadn't been hit since his last trip and some attendants told him it was "due" any day now, so he grabbed my aunt and they locked up those machines around the clock for what seemed like a day or so.

He never hit but as they were leaving they saw another bank of 12+ machines that were also tied to the progressive making his attempt to "lock down" the progressive moot.

I died laughing when I heard that story

HOLY CRAP your use of the word progressive reminds me I completely left out a small part of Day 3! I can't believe I forgot it, here it is.

When we left Red8 after lunch, my dad was trying to convince my mom to put 1k into the 10$, single line machine where the progressive had gotten up to 51k. She was reluctant to do it (she doesn't find VP fun at all) but given how badly the rest of us were running she was sort of willing to. My dad figured if anyone could bink the 51k it's her.

Anyways, I think I left a few min early for some reason or another but was going to meet them at those machines (just outside of Red8, and right near my usual machine). When I came back, I couldn't find them. Then I look up and the progressive reads "40,000.04". WTF. That means someone JUST hit it.

And yep, there he is, still there, waiting to be paid. He had two to a royal and smashed the other three cards. I surmise my parents must have seen him hit and decided to walk off as the machine wasn't worth playing anymore, which was in fact the case.

Imagine how tilted I was to see that, esp with how the trip had been going at that point. While my dad was literally arguing with my mom trying to get her to stick 1k in, this guy binks the royal (not that it would have made a difference). I later told them about the best you can hope for is they distract that guy, and he pushes a millisec later and doesn't hit the royal

I can't believe I forgot that detail.

Way back when, Stardust had a +ev machine but it was only quarters. Trying to make a living off it would pay something like 6 bucks an hour. Beats real work I guess. On one trip I tried to play it but there was someone planted in front of it all trip. I checked all hours and there was always someone feeding quarters into it.

The Vegas ecosystem reminds me of a human version of one of those National Geographic films where they have a guy doing a voiceover of lions killing an animal and then the hyaenas come in after the lions while the vultures are roosting in the background, then smaller animals make their way to the carcass to get their fill and then the bugs until nothing is left but fur and bones.

Vegas is like that but instead of a food chain, its a money chain where you can see all walks off life attempting to get their fill.

It would be funny to create a Youtube video of Vegas showing all the different types of people clamoring for $$ with the same guy who does the Nat Geo voiceovers seriously describing Vegas the same way he describes the jungle.

EX: In David Attenborough's voice:

"The "Whale" is the king of the casino jungle, peacock like in the way he or she dresses and conducts themselves making them easy to spot by the casino hosts who may be better known as leeches who compete heavily for this rare and valuable prize. So much so, catching a whale can make a leeches entire year making the competition for this elusive creature fierce......"

FYI-Here's David Attenborough's voice for anyone who's never heard it:

so sick; what a huge comeback; like cavs coming back down 3-1 against the warriors last year when the warriors had not lost 3 games in a row in about 3 years.

Even more impressive considering Leon wasn't able to get the key player of the opponent suspended.
