Leon-we ALL simply cannot wait for your next update! I've been working from home for seemingly FOREVER, and refresh my phone constantly to see if you've been tearing it up. Tough times-we need to see you killing it!

Rest of trip-

Let's figure out where we are-

VP- +30k
Craps- -15k
Overall +15k

We head over to Mizumi for dinner. We're sitting at the Teppanyaki bar as B is not a huge seafood fan. We're seated with a large family of accountants who try and make small talk. I'm usually not a fan, but they're really nice people so I make an effort and we end up having good dinner conversation.

Appetizer, sashimi with grilled corn and eggplant. The grilled corn was excellent, 8/10, but made the baby corn absolutely tasteless by contrast. Whole dish- 6/10.

We both get the Kobe and shrimp, 9/10. So full.

Included dessert, green tea cake/mousse with berries. I think I had like two bites.

After dinner, we finally make a smart decision with UX and... don't play. Instead, we head to hi limit. We tell ourselves "no more than 4k", meaning don't give back more than 4k. If we do that, we'll have 11k left for tomorrow and should lock in a win. Of course, that 4k evaporates ultra fast, and here comes tilt...

We leave hi limit and head to an old school machine. It's awful, stuck 6k. With tilt firmly planted, I decide to fire another 2k at spin poker. B is like "meh whatever go ahead" so I do. The 2k also evaporates ultra fast, we're now stuck 8k post dinner, only up 7k overall... so tilted. I have 40 credits left in the machine, not even enough for a full bet. I bet it off, more than 40 and now have a full bet. Bet again... down to 40 again. Bet the 40- third dealt quads of the trip?

Result-
Spoiler:

I cannot describe how angry I am. Seriously. I hold the cards then punch the machine. B is shaking his head. WTF. Seriously, WTF. Lose 8k in less than an hr, don't have a full bet, somehow survive, once again don't have a full bet, and now it finds a way to deal us quads... and they're not even premium.

Whatever. We pick up the 2k, I say to B, "this isn't even going to last 5 min", and sure enough, I'm proven right. UGH. SUCH a waste. We head upstairs, and I'm legit worried about booking a win, despite two dealt premiums. When this game is cold, it's SO cold.

Day 3 result- -10k
Overall- +7k

Day 4

We're heading back today. I'm up at 5:30am and head to hi limit. Screw UX. Screw craps.

I lose 2k when B joins. We're down to 5k in the black, and I check my attitude again. We got to play, a ton. Everything comped. And we're still up. Let's have some fun. With the change in attitude comes three aces...

Alright, that helps, a lot.

We finally convert a pair of aces into 4AWAK (forgot to take a pic), and another 4k falls soon after!

This machine is downright HOT.

We decide to go to 18 lines, and are rewarded with trip aces again...

F YES!

I forgot to mention- throughout the trip B and I got dealt 4 to a royal 4 times. Whiffed everyone, including three draws at 15-25 lines. We FINALLY convert one.

We're now up 20k total. We decide to give craps one last try. And... it's FINALLY good. I'm playing small, 240 each on 6 and 8 and I have 80% of B who is in for 500. It's generally good, no amazing runs but most rolls were decent. I cash out 2k winner, B has doubled his buy in. We're up 22k with a little time to go...

Back to hi limit. The machine gives us some play, but ultimately we lose 2k and decide to call it. We have to pack and check out, and I get to do the always-fun "cash all my tickets and chips out", which actually is only fun when you've got more than you started with. I already know we're up 20k ish, I ship B his 5%.

Day 4 result-
VP- + 11k
Craps- +2k
Overall- +13k
Trip total- +20k (-13k craps, +33k VP)

We get the same Rolls back to the airport!

Overall, a super fun trip. Wish UX and craps could have been better, but that's the way it goes. We did get super lucky to book a win, and I'm really happy B was able to book a sizable win which just makes it more likely his wife will let him go next time

Thanks for reading!

Guess I'm way below expectation, having never had dealt quads. That means I need to always play 20 line TDB from now on, right?

Video poker is so much fun when you're running hot at it. Those 3k+ losses are no fun though.

Love it. How do you deal with tax implications for you and B? Do you just eat it since you’re a G?

Yeah and the 10k+ losses really suck.

I just ate it. He had such a small % of me anyways and I'm the one who ultimately will deduct gambling losses (or post the majority of the win) anyways. I briefly considered having him cover 5% of tip (I probably tipped off at least 500$) but that seemed really cheap and with the net damage to our friendship vs any financial benefit to me, it wasn't even close.

NOW, another Barona mini-TR!

Had a bad trip immediately after I got back from Vegas, lost at least 12-13k. Went again, had the smallest (we're talking maybe a G) win.

Went again, got stuck over 10k, left multiline machine in frustration, tried flip and pay (which I haven't played in forever) and pretty soon got "dealt" (flipped) quads-

Draw result-
Spoiler:

NICE!

Now I'm slightly up for the day. Keep playing, get another "dealt" (flipped) quads-

Draw result-
Spoiler:

Such a great kicker draw, both times. Both hands worth

And that's about how much I'm up now too!

Of course, like a fool I give way too much back and end up... only up 2.5k. On the way out there was new super times pay machine (STP stacks or something, you get more lines when a multiplier comes out) and I gave it a try, mostly out of curiosity (not worth playing, 10c denom is the highest they have. Paytable was decent though). Long story short I turn 500$ into 1500$, so now I've got a 12k ticket, a 2.5k and a 1.5k one.

Yesterday, the power blew unexpectedly in my neighborhood right in the AM as I was getting ready for work. I actually got off work early, but when I got back the power was still out. I figure, might as well head to the local, at least there's AC there. Played for hrs, the machine was warm throughout-

I lost track of the number of 4000s and minor jackpots I hit. Bottom line I played for hours and it just felt like I was going to hit the big one, the machine was so good for so long... but didn't. Ended up literally booking a few hundred dollar win LOL. Good news is I only put in that 2.5 and 1.5k ticket, so now I've still got that, a 12k ticket and a little more.

SO- headed back this AM which was always the plan. Yesterday was an anomaly. I counted and I cycled in almost 3000 hands yesterday with no dealt quads. The machine certainly FELT hot yesterday. I pick up right where I left off- it's generally warm. I must be due.

Cycled in about 1000 hands, thought to myself, "there's the 4000 hands, where are the the dealt quads?" WHEN-

BANG!!!!!

This ties my 3rd biggest hit lifetime. Played for quite a bit more, really felt on a crazy run/day like today would be the first lifetime 6 figure hit but no dice. Gave back the additional 7 or 8k I was up in the machine to end up... with the same 4k ticket I started with LOL. Oh yeah, and +50k on the side.

Hopefully this is an immortal 4k ticket that simply will not die and just generates massive jackpots periodically.

Take some out for a generator for your house. Which you need in California.

Or do solar panels and a giant battery, but don't put the battery in your house. When it explodes you want it out in a shed where it won't kill anyone, just burn the shed down.

Not his soul. Satan extracts some rungood from everyone that reads this thread, like a vampire, and deposits it into Leon's players cards.

Great minds think alike. We already got solar installed last year (paid for by VP yay) but didn't think to get a battery. Obv regretted that decision Thurs. Wife, some colleagues who I told the story to and I all agree a battery is a necessary purchase in the near future.

As far as my run good, I'm just as mystified but I'll take it. It's funny bc I'm learning a difficult Chopin piece right now (Fantasie Impromptu) and some people back in the day of Lizst and Paganini seriously believed they had sold their souls to the devil, bc there was no other rationale explanation for how they could play so inhumanly. I feel like the same comments can be made about Chopin in many respects.

So I'm having these same thoughts about some of these old school gods. Huge difference being I'm just the recipient of dumb luck but they had a once in a generation talent.
