So I had a pretty good record, small sample size. That said, I find tournies insufferable. Devote hrs at a minimum to an endeavor one likely will walk away with nothing from. I really wanted to eventually play in the WSOP as well, but even that desire has waned with time. Back when I could play, I couldn't find the time and the thought of dropping 10k on something I probably wouldn't cash in didn't appeal to me. Now that I'm more comfortable with dropping 10k, I can't play anymore I'm sure I'm not a favorite, in any case.

I hear you on that. Or playing for 7 hours online, busting in 78th place and winning your buy in back.

Yeah. The steaming can be awful. I can't play anymore for cr&p so it's not like some brag, just thinking of one I entered with 1400 players, 1st place is 60k, 12 times more than my highest ever jackpot in anything, I bust in 12th and thought I was gonna fall over and lose it lol. Yeah so has its downsides

If you were a winning 40 player, your best shot would be LHE tournaments. While the best players would have an edge, it would be small given the variance in LHE.

Oh for sure. Not that I've looked seriously in a while, but even quite some time ago it appeared that except for the WSOP there basically are no LHE tournies out there anymore.

Yes, I meant WSOP. It can't be that tough, 2p2'er ZOMG even won a LHE bracelet.

(Let's see if he notices this post)

I do need a bracelet, my social circle doesn't believe I used to be profitable at poker LOL. Back when we could easily play online sometimes I'd play at work on downtimes and the proof was there haha (actually they just saw me playing 10 games at once and that was enough evidence).

There's a $3000 LHE 6-max on June 27th. Three grand is about .... ten minutes on an Ultimate X machine?

But then Leon would be pissed when he gets pocket aces and the flop comes Ace, Ace Deuce...

When I'm in Vegas I usually stick a half-dozen singles in a back pocket so I can quickly sling a buck or two tip if needed. I think I'll make it a habit to do the same with a couple twenties from now on.

pro tip: i load up on $2 bills before i go to vegas. bar tenders (especially the girls) and waitresses seem to love them and it's still somewhat of a novelty for some reason. the extra buck in form of the bill itself gets mad service and very stiff drinks.

Or I'd flop top set and keep thinking "I miss all the time" when I don't make quads.

That's awesome. Although, I personally am not a fan of the multiplier feature as I understand it on this game (and to a lesser extent on STP). Supposedly you get multipliers when you get aces on the deal, the more aces the higher the multiplier. So if lightning strikes like with this guy, then yeah, it's just huge.

Same thing with the dealt royal on STP- as I understand it, if you pick up a multiplier AND get a dealt royal, the "multiplier will automatically be 10X!". Yeah, except that's such a super-long shot.

As the king of non-premium dealt quads, I'd just pour money away waiting for an event which would never happen

In Double STP, if you're dealt a royal with a 10x multiplier, you'll also get another 10x on the redraw.

I recently 'discovered' Triple Play Extra Draw Frenzy triple double and I am hooked.

Basically an extra coin per line and you get 3 to 7 extra draws whenever you draw 3 of a kind..

I played TDB EDF 5 line for a while at my local casino, then they removed it. I pressed them to bring it back for months, and when they finally did the TDB feature NO LONGER held the kicker when appropriate- be warned. They don't have TDB at the Wynn with an acceptable pay table.

Leon did Barona remove them?

They still have a few of these machines at tiny Casino Pauma. In the back near the Poker Room. Just played them the other night and ran VERY well..

They took them away around late Jan 2016 (coincidentally around the time I ran super-hot on them...). They claimed a "software issue" whereby the auto-hold feature wasn't functioning properly and they "couldn't offer a defective product to their guests (yeah right)". The autohold seemed spot on to me, or at least close enough to optimal that it basically didn't matter. So that excuse never sat well with me- all I know is that it deprived me of a version that I definitely wanted to play.

I wrote the casino manager, etc and kept receiving the same response, which again seemed like BS to me. If the autohold isn't holding the right cards, that seems like a simple programming/update issue. It's not like the optimal holds aren't well established and known to basically everyone. So months went by and I basically gave up hope. Then one day I happened upon one machine that had EDF for quarters. I played, and immediately notified the casino manager and requested more/bigger limits. Turns out, they had made a mistake on this one machine and installed it when they weren't supposed to. But now the game was up, and they were willing to bring it back on other machines.

They did (probably around June 2016), but since then the TDB bonus version would not hold the kicker with trip A,2,3 or 4 when before it did. Clearly again an easily-fixed error or a purposeful screwing of the customer. So annoying. I've played it a few times since and always run like crap- I kept track a couple of times for the fun of it and I got dealt trips about 1/100 hands over a 10k sample size, way below the expected 1/47. I'm sure it's not statistically significant with that sample, but still very annoying. And I wouldn't put it past the casino to offer a "version" where trips are dealt less frequently than the norm, if they also have the ability to toggle "hold kicker" on and off so easily. So **** them.

TLDR version- I've been getting screwed on a sub-optimal version of EDF since they brought it back, so I don't play it anymore.

When I was playing Triple Double I drew 3 aces once and 3 fours once. Neither hand had a kicker and I wondered if it would let you keep a kicker in those situations where you always want to in triple double..I was guessing no..

Pauma has a couple Hot Shot VP machines I hadnt played before. Had the dream draw situation 3 Aces and rolled a 12X on quarters.

Top row binked the 4th ace, but no kicker. Was the worst $2,400 I ever won.. just thinking what the kicker would have paid.. 😔

Definitely a sign you've put in enough VP hours Stu... you sound like me now/you're thinking about the missed upside. Always amusing to me when I'm playing next to someone who gets super excited about making regular quads at pennies or something... I wish those hands could bring me that level of joy.

I think I posted this before. Look at this ****ed up hand. Dealt 4 aces. Most pissed I've EVER been with a handpay.

I mean damn! There are 12 2/3/4s left in the deck and 47 cards left that's like 1 in 4 cards are a premium kicker and you have 5 shots at it... Seems like a small underdog but sill a pretty big wiff to go 0 for 5 and damn does it hurt

By my math, chance of non-kickers in all 5 spots = 35/47^5 = ~ 23%. 77% chance I catch at least 1 kicker.
