I'm driving, windows down, music up, just enjoying the day, heading to the V for some 2/5 as I had called and put my name on the list.
All of a sudden, a '98 chevy 1500 truck shows up in my window. I had 0 reaction opportunity. He just veered from his left hand lane going southbound and ran into me. One second earlier it would have been a head on collision.
The truck slams into me and tears down the side and I have 3 airbags go off inside, 2 hitting me in the face. I get dazed and disoriented and lose control of my car. I kinda veer left, and then go right and the car jumps the curb and slams into the rock fence that you see.
I have airbag injuries, a broken pinky, scratches and bruises. Overall happy that I didn't get more injured as it felt and sounded like I got hit by a mack truck.
Insurance adjuster has not seen my car yet, but it's 99% totaled. Now way they're repairing that thing. Been on the phone with insurance all day. Basically the guy was at fault. He said a white truck stopped suddenly and when he jammed the brakes lost control, and veered into my lane. I never saw it coming.
Cop cited other driver at fault for following too closely. I did not get cited. The driver is not on the policy for the truck, it belongs to somebody else. Also their limit is 10k on the policy, which in no way will begin to pay for my car being totaled.
So it's looking like lawyers will get involved, especially with the injury. I had a tough time sleeping last night, couldn't see nothing but that truck plowing into me all night.
Plus they wont give me a rental car until they determine for certain their driver is at fault. Bunch of BS. Either way, I'm probably gonna go buy a beater this wknd off Craigslist to have something to drive around in.
I'll miss that damn car, I had a great time with it. Oh well...cars are replaceable, lives are not. I am super thankful I did not have my arm hanging out the window, as I would have 100% lost it. Scary to think how close you get sometimes.
