Did that for 6 years before selling. Neighbors on 3 sides had palms and they moved to the cracks in the block wall btwn the houses. We didn’t have it bad but we saw them a few times a year. Outside near the walls we killed hundreds per year. Fortunately we had a big backyard to buffer the house, but we weren’t immune. Was over in Rancho Bonito at Rancho/Oakey. Loved that neighborhood.
Now I’m over by Gardens Park on Town Ctr. New place scorpion free going on 2 years and I might never leave.
Weird question but any of you know a vid or in depth article about the history of Vegas and how it came to be? As in how it came to be the gambling capital of the US ? Or even how casinos decided to all come build in the desert.
Would be a fun watch as I actually don’t know much about how the strip came to be
There’s a gaming historian at UNLV named David Schwartz & he puts a bunch of history of Vegas material out there. I don’t recall what exactly he has done and I haven’t read any of it so YMMV. The bio of Kerkorian tells a lot of the story of the development of Las Vegas since he was integral in that process.

A few years ago when I was living in Las Vegas, I went to a lecture by Schwartz at the library and chatted with him a bit afterwards. His presentation was very interesting.
thanks saw that and a few other yt vids, neat stuff, liked the histroy of the stardust, sands etc, kinda surreal they were tehre first and pioneered it and now are no longer there.
this is a very noob question guys, but what do you get when you get player cards from casinos and swipe them at the table? orleans dealer did that for em a few years agio said to get a card and swipe it every time I play. i assume my points or whatever expires but what isthat good for? what does swiping your player card do? is it for certain comps and whatnot?
Poker rooms will give comps at the rate of 1-2$ per hr. So they log you in when u sit at the table and when you leave they just click you out. If you miss your blinds they will log you out till you come back and repost. That is applied to your card and u can use that for food and stuff. Most casinos will have a machine you can go to and see how much you have on the card
