Hard to say. There is a constant ebb and flow. The game quality had dropped significantly for a while...but the sheer number of donators has been very nice recently. For example yesterday played a 5/10 sess with 3 players that had zero chance - then played 2/5 with a dude that donated the 900 to me and blew through 3k - and 3 others that were leaving their money in vegas.

When I say they have no chance I'm talking limping J7o utg and calling an iso raise.

The Game's Deterioration:

Poker revenue down from 122MM in 2007 to 99MM in 2013

Less new players, less donators

Considering that's pre and post black friday and financial crisis I don't think the numbers are too bad.

It will be interesting to see the change once the legal online sites mature and the economy recovers.

The house made $5B on slots and tables and gave away $1.6B (30%) in comps? Who knew! Can I get a couple of buffets over here.

That's the part that scares me.

If you look at the total casino revenues, the number is pretty much back at peak.

So it's like, other parts of the casino recovered but poker didn't.

Cheers,

S

personally my guess is that the vig on many tournaments was forced to move from outrageous to merely usurious. Just table hours per day i feel like there is a ton more poker going on in vegas now than there was in 07.

I think that's probably more a black friday effect than anything else (poker advertising used to be everywhere in 2007).

The more states that allow online poker the more TV will be involved and interest will grow. I think it will be quite a few years until poker is back to its peak but with legislation changing we are moving back in the right direction. I am however naturally an optimist.

Cheers

Elliot

all I am sure of is... that what we have now, as far as intra-state gaming is concerned, IS NOT going to be good enough. player pool needs to be MUCH LARGER.

Coming down up from Mexico City, wanted to do a dinner with the gf, Mon Ami Gabi or Top of the World? Are they both overrated? Thanks in advance for the advice

Top of the world is great imo, thats where I have taken gfs for special occasions in the past. Food is tasty (expensive obviously) and of course the view is the best in Vegas.

This. I have a feeling that things will improve during the series though. Hopefully wsop.com had a healthy satty schedule. For someone like me who would love to play more than 3-4 1ks, sattys would get me excited to grind wsop.

Top of the World is amazing. Eiffel Tower is the typical great view/poor food combo, but TOTW delivers on both.

Mon Ani Gabi is casual, Top of the World isn't. What do you want? The proper comparison though would be Top of the World to Eiffel Tower.

Host is getting wife and I O tickets for valentines day and I was hoping someone who have seen it can recommend best place to sit.

You have a choice? Outside the splash zone but near the stage. Look it up on the Bellagio website. It is opera house seating so you can see from everywhere but I think near the stage would make the acrobatics more dramatic.

Personally I had wished I were in the second level center for O. I hated the show though, so maybe don't listen to me

So you would prefer 203 to 103?
Something specific you didn't like?
Have you seen Mystere? We quite enjoyed it, but I realize O is probably very different.

Thanks for the help.

I thought 'O' was super boring. La Reve on the other hand is amazing.

Best shows in Vegas IMO are: Love, La Reve, and MJ Cirque show

O & Mystere are basically the same show only O has water. Enjoyed both.

I feel line both O and Mystere certainly had a mix of acrobatics and comedy but felt O was going for a more "sophisticated" feel. I liked Mystere better personally. I rank the shows I have seen:

1) love (Beatles fan and first cirque show)
2) Ka (fascinated by that stage and the only one with a story line)
3) Mystere
4) O

All were good. Actually my ranking is the order I saw them. Maybe I value novelty? :-)
