well... they must have done their homework because the developer purchased the property for 20 million dollars and is investing another 50 million to finish the project.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

on a side note... they are really hauling arse on the retail development right behind Red Rock Casino. that place should be finished very shortly.

Thank god. I was just the other day thinking that there aren't enough places to shop in Las Vegas.

The only things the SW part of town needs are an Olive Garden & a Cafe Rio.

Are any of you Vegas regulars fans of noise rock or metal?

I'm going to be in town Wed 3/12 through Sun 3/16 (leaving Monday). I'm planning on catching Qui on Saturday, is there anything else going on? Record stores to hit?

I'm a mid 40s quiet married non degen type, employed in low-to-midstakes show business (television recording studio). Besides music my other main non-poker interests are low-to-midstakes lunch (I'm vegetarian) and craft beer. PM me detailing which parts of the package you find irresistible.

Thats a pretty funny post...

There are several record stores around... will post links later. One of which will be like nirvana, but the owner is a complete ahole and will not deal on his extremely over priced goods... but he does does have several hundred thousand records.

Are you only into walls of noise?

Lol my thoughts exactly when I first saw it. Figured someone on here would want to play it though, we have a new thread in lvl every week with someone asking for low-stakes tourneys.

I like both kinds... Death Metal and Progressive Death Metal. I kid.

For live music I mainly expect it to be original and not full of ****, which rules out 90% of everything.

Most of my record collection is different flavors of rock music, mostly but not exclusively blasting loud. I'm more generally drawn toward music that's a little weird or kinky or transgressive. So for 70s stuff that would be less Eagles and more Magma or Dust.

I'm mad jelly because my co-worker is leaving early to degen it up in Vegas and I'm not.

So I'm going to post random Vegas degen stories from my past.

Back when the Palms was new, my friends and I went to N9NE and then went to mingle with the hotties at ghostbar. Being a bunch of nerds in grad school didn't exactly send the babes flocking in our direction, which bothered some of us less than others.

One guy snapped a phone pic of two girls kissing, and nearly got beat up by the two girls' MMAish boyfriends. Another guy tried his usual "hit on anything that moves" approach but went about 0-for-100. A third somehow spilled a drink on someone's $6,000 shoes.

The other three of us were content to chill on the balcony and just hang out, but the first three were insistent we leave. Somewhere between the Palms and the Bellagio a fight erupted, with accusations of "killjoy" and "dickless" (that escalated quickly) being exchanged.

I suggested that we find a craps table and I'd teach everyone how to degen it up properly. Two agreed, three disagreed and wanted to go find a poker line that wasn't 4.5 hours (the amount we had waited the previous night at the Bellagio), and we went our separate ways.

Bellagio, $25 min wtfwtfwtf! To Paris! ... $10 min. To Bally's! ... $10 min. To Barbary Coast! ... $5 min. To O'Sheas! ... They had a $3 table but, ugh, way too crowded.

A correlation between hotel ****tiness and lower gambling limits began to form in our minds. By that reasoning, what's the ****tiest hotel we could think of?

The Jockey Club, of course. We stumbled down to the Jockey Club wondering what penny ante craps.tables this place may have.

We walked around the building for almost 30 minutes before realizing it was so ****ty it didn't even have a casino.

... ****.

lol Jockey Club. I've never been drunk enough to think they had a casino there.

this place is #1 in LV as far as I'm concerned:

http://www.ziarecords.com/Home

They have lots of non-mainstream music here in the form of records & CDs as well as DVDs, CDs, video games and collectibles. Prices are reasonable. They have several listening stations for music. They sell some used stuff which you can get at a great discount compared to new stuff (tbh I primarily come here just to look for used stuff). The location on Flamingo is slightly bigger (ie more stuff) than the Sahara location for what it's worth.

I agree, but when I already have hand tied behind my back because I have to use a weber for indirect, going the extra miles by using red oak or mesquite is truly problematic. Those briquetts were Mesquite briquetts.

Believe me, I use wood as much as possible.

yeah... ZIA is good for the vegas area, but not great in comparison to other cities. also, there are a few Zia locations so try and go to the one on eastern, it's the biggest I think.

there is also Record City (two locations).

also Moondog Records

But this is the biggest store with the biggest inventory... literally hundreds of thousands of records in every category.

Wax Trax

big vivid green building that is converted house. it's got upstairs and down stairs and a basement and inventory from all facets of recording.

one word of advice... the owner is a really ill tempered old curmudgeon. If you want to remain in his store, don't piss him off or he will kick your arse out the front door... the dude just does not give a shyte.

he doesn't like to asnwer to many questions, but he doesnt mind if you wander around his location for hours on end.

he is literally the record Nazi

Thanks for the recommendations! I will bookmark them all and hit as many as I can.

I probably won't buy any vinyl for myself (I do most of my listening in my car during my ~300 weekly miles) but I will get want lists from a couple of friends and ship stuff out on my last day if there are hits.

A big new and used CD selection with listening stations is definitely my idea of fun.

Ugh… that C1000s Record Nazi is using for vocals. So 90s, so prosumer.

What should I do with 10 1k one time use promo chips? 10 hands of baccarat? 10 different numbers on the wheel (lol)? Play 2 hands of blackjack at once? Bet red or black? What do you guys think?

Any restrictions on them? Good chance you can't do numbers on the wheel as promo chips are usually limited to 1:1 payouts.

You must be one massive degen if they really gave you $10k in promo chips.
