I was pretty much joking, but if you get no response I am not sure what your options are. I cant believe no one ever answers the phone, are you sure you are calling the correct number?

I've been trying to call HR all week and I get nothing...no answer and the voice mail box is full so I can't leave a message. I did manage to get an HR reps direct line, but of course, no answer, no call back. Obviously, I applied online, but I wrote a cover letter too and of course, just want to get my actual resume to the hiring manager instead of relying on what I had to fill out online. The online application doesn't even let me explain my experience...any advice out there????
I pmed you.

Definitely was calling the main HR line. I was even transferred in from a couple of different hotels (also called directly). There is a voicemail w/ options, but all options eventually ask me to leave a message, but the mailbox was full...couldn't leave a message. Called my one actually contact twice now and L/M w/out being called back.

I'm sure they are just insanely short staffed. I'm going to stop into the Ballys HR headquarters tomorrow and see if I can find some help. Then maybe, Lovemans office.

Careful consideration?? Really? Find that amusing since their online application is so vague they almost know nothing of my background.

I got the same form letter/email and I am supremely qualified for the position I was applying. I have sense found an "IN" at the properties that I hope will at least get me in the door so I can transfer out at a later date.

I was actually there last month and yeah, if you were looking for Caesars positions it would have been an excellent venue to meet people. Most of the high level execs were in attendance for the Friday meet-n-greet and Brad gave a talk on Saturday morning concerning MBA recruiting.

It will come around next year of course...your best bet in the future is to try to make a contact and move through there, a cold resume/cover letter drop will not get you any connection is my assumption. They are a company that very much values personal interaction in determining who they want to move forward.

I read this thread, & didn't really intend to get a job for a while, but ended up getting the 1st 1 I applied for & started work 2 weeks to the day after I got here.

Kinda regretting it

If you think you can be a thief in LV think again!

Some folks are much fitter when they have a good lifestyle.

Good for him, but wow what spectacularly bad advice below. It's all fun and games until the vigilante gets shot:

"So many people these days would just sit and watch those guys run away," Shepherd said. "People need to get up and help stop this type of stuff."

similar here... I am barley moving full time this weekend, and I was able to score a jay oh bee(if I can pass the background check) prior to moving, not ideal by any stretch of the imagination and WAY outside my professional field, but it's a job.

after a week or two I need to see if I can find something better if possible.

say you got an undergrad business degree from a top 50 university, and a MBA. 5-7 years experience non-gaming/hospitality related. nothing spectacular, no skill set to speak of.

you're f'd in vegas too, right? or are they even taking chances on anyone? reading this thread makes it sound like vegas is full of HS grads only.

not even remotely thinking about moving to vegas, just curious

times are tough. i live in a condo, our unit/building is comprised of 3 condos. both of our neighbors are moving. one of them walked away from his mortgage...he paid 300k for his place in 06 and its on the market for 97k as a foreclosure. our other neighbor paid 240k and they are hoping to sell it for 75. a similar unit in our complex sold for 60k recently.

you hear about this stuff on the news but it's pretty sad when it happens to your neighbors

Who is "they"? The casinos? They aren't growing. They don't have too few employees, they have the opposite problem. There are occasionally going to be openings, but dozens, if not hundreds, of better qualified people than you are seeking those jobs.

I didn't mean casinos, specifically. just any industries. are they even hiring MBAs and people with college degrees?

Which industries? Vegas isn't exactly Chicago, you know.

I recently read a story about a womans family who used to bank in annual salary after coming here in the 90's from CA. It's when all the mega resorts were being built and jobs were plentiful.

The profile of them now is just horrendous, unemployed for over 2 years, being laid off after 10+ with the same hotel/casino. Seniority seems to mean nothing in Vegas, everyones job is expendable. Now she must soon foreclose on her house an still had 3 children to finish raising.

It almost makes me feel like a douchebag for taking a trip to Vegas to party it up and blow $5k+.

The problem is surely that not enough people are doing this at the moment.
