I never thought of this until now, but vegas is a funny place when it comes to street performers.
they don't really exist.
now don't get me wrong - there are literally dozens of people out on the street on the strip and downtown trying to earn money.
about 25% of these are literal bums in full costume, posing for pictures for tips. many look-a-likes and impersonators. you have the showgirls & the girls in pasties. but performers?
less than 5% of the people on the street hustling in vegas have real talent.
the reason?
despite being a city based completely on entertainment, the local arts scene in las vegas is basically non-existent.
people don't come to las vegas to "make it" as an artist or musician - once you're here, you've already made it.
las vegas does not cultivate and grow talent, they import it. if you're an aspiring magician in las vegas,
you have to leave town to get a gig!
so to answer your question, the tips for street performers are not great. but they haven't seen anything good. the audience is unlimited - if you're entertaining, you'll make money.
