Here is another moving to Las Vegas thread, trust me this one should be entertaining to say the least. Going to be grinding nl part time and selling cars for my full time gig. I'll be relocating within the next 2 to 3 weeks. I've looked a lot online but can anyone local tell me the best apartments to consider? Just need a one bedroom and good safe location. I was looking at south summerlin, henderson, nw Las Vegas but that is far from all poker so not ideal. Mainly needing to know quality apartments, any help would be much appreciated.

Oklahoma city area, 29 years old, moving with my girlfriend, no kids, only debt is truck payment, I've been in the car business for 5 years and sales for 8. I've been to vegas 10 times the last 3 years and have stayed for up to 2 weeks at a time. We just love the area, weather, food, etc

Budget? Cheaper apartments are near the strip but not necessarily safe. More expensive apartments will be nicer and typically safer, but you'll have a commute.

Trying to stay around 1200, might go up to 1400 depending on the place. I'm not needing to be that close to the strip just want nice and safe. Going to get a lease sight unseen so it makes it tougher. I figure it's better to apply now since I still have provable income.

Which dealership ? It might be easier to go by your work location.

Done Chevy the last 4 years, ed bozarth and findlay Chevrolet seem to be both in the good areas. I'm not worried about a 20 minutes commute. Anything longer I'm trying to avoid.

Do you already have your job lined up ? If so, no worries.

The Valley Auto Mall is in Henderson which would open up a wide range residential options.

I suggest you hold off on a lease sight unseen. Get a short term rental, then, with a job, you can find a longer term residence.

Your price range should work out.

Prices are currently going up but it sounds like in your price range. The area I live in west of the Strip and the 15 freeway go for about $850 a month for new residents. An acquaintance of mine who lives in southwest Vegas says she pays $1,200 for a 2-bedroom apartment.

Elysian at St. Rose is amazing. Cousin lived there for a year. Super safe area and modern and clean suites. Right across from M Resort.

Most of these locations suggested are 20+ minutes to the strip and 40+ minutes to Ez Bozarths in Centennial Hills. I sold cars when I first moved to Vegas in 2014 for a short period of time. The consensus from the Car Sales Veterans in Vegas is there's so much more money in the used car/discount dealer markets. I interviewed at Ed Bozarths and I wasn't feeling it, especially how far it was from my place in Spring Valley.

$1200/mo will get you a ton of choices for housing, that's even enough for some of the luxury high rises. My 700sq ft studio at the Juhl downtown was $1200/mo all in. I suggest HotPads for an apartment search. Their filters are great and you will get a good gauge on where you want to be in town in relation to your new job and the strip for poker.

Good Luck.

If you're looking at NW, don't worry about it being too far from poker. You won't be all that far from Red Rock and Santa Fe Station. They may not be the most exciting places to play, but Santa Fe is filled with some AAAAAAAAAAAWFUL regulars. I mean true ****regs who have no idea what they're doing. It can be a good place to make some quick money on the side. Plus you can hop on the 95 and get to the strip in 15 minutes. I live in Skye Canyon now and I can park at the MGM garage in 25 minutes door to door.

So my girlfriend and I decided on a place in nw vegas. Don't know the city too well I just know this area is safe and we both have reliable transportation so not too worried about a short commute.

I've been in Vegas since the first. Been living on the strip till this Friday when I have bed and all my furniture. Every night has been comped and 1/3 of the resort fees as well.

I quickly learned if I can stay off the bac table I'll be just fine. Most players on the low levels in vegas are much worse than I remember. I would say I've played 50 hours or so since I've been in town but occupying the gf on the strip for 2 weeks has been part of the challenge.
