Judging from the ashtrays in your room, this will not be an easy task.

Smokers tip on ashtrays in hotel rooms. Bring one to your bathroom on or next to or on the toilet, nothing beats doing two of the s's at the same time.

It was good meeting up with you. Bring your wife out next time and she can lay at the pool with my wife. Win/Win. If that does not work, your always welcome to roll out with the Chicago suburbs crew and I.

Same here, next time I need to get you downtown for a little bit of degen, maybe we can do $3 craps at Jerry's Nugget.

Yeah only problem is the kiddo. No Offense to anyone who takes kids to Vegas but I have no desire to do so especially little ones.

Final tallys are in total loss of everything comes in right around -$1,150. My losses coming primarily from poker -$834 and craps -$581. Also loss -$165 betting baseball. If I didn't start 1-6 first day I would've been fine. Essentially dropped down to half units afterwards and won on baseball everyday except of course my last day where I went back to full units. Craps was also really annoying, understandably it's a -EV game but I ran especially bad. Not one winner over $100 and the last two days I literally didn't hit one point, super wrong side of variance.

Poker was really disappointing, I've never ran so bad. My game was also really rusty and it showed with some big losses the first couple of days and I was never able to recover.

I'd like to put one more post to this trip report with final thoughts and plans for future trips to hopefully avoid a lot of the run bad.

Poker

Sportbook Baseball

Degen

Enjoyed the virtual trip...your honest accounting is a thing to behold.

Thanks, only way to stay honest is with thorough accounting. Also it helps to look back and see what you did wrong, and how to avoid same pitfalls going forward.

Yes for quitting smoking baby is definitely the main motivation. I'd like to ensure I'm there for him as he gets older and I can't 6 ft under or bed ridden with emphysema on disability and being a financial burden to my family.

Damn dude, for that length of a trip I'd consider that a win. I wish I had the patience to maintain a ledger like that.

Wanted to post an overall trip summary. Didn't run good at all some being self inflicted and some was truly running bad. The self inflicted run bad came from being away for so long. My wife became pregnant early in 2014 and I didn't hit Vegas because of it since Thanksgiving 2013. Definitely not complaining about this but it is what it is. This meant when I got to Vegas I was a like a kid in the candy store. Hit craps way to hard as well VP. Ran abnormally bad in craps and good in VP, want to limit both going forward.

Sports betting which has always been a winner came out a small loser for me. Bad luck on baseball, games I won I easily won and losses where close coolers. Problem was I went 1-5 first day and reduced my unit size afterwards and by the time I recovered my confidence and bankroll it was time to leave.

Poker my big loser this trip really hurt. I was clearly off my game, very rusty and made some very obvious bad plays. Use to be good at folding TPTK or over pairs to aggression but not anymore. Also need to be more patient and game select. I shouldn't started my poker play at $1/$3 at Orleans. The game plays bigger than my standard $1/$2 and too many locals. Could never recover from the first session loser and wasn't motivated to put in the needed volume.

I think going forward I might need to find a new home base. I love MSS but no access to a poker room means that when it's late a night I'm too relucantant to walk to GN for a quick usually winning poker session and instead will degen at craps and VP. Also it use to be not too bad when Binions would have a game but Binions is really a sh**hole now and I have no desire to play there $1/$3 game anymore. I still like to avoid the strip, being that I'm a cheapo and I like to have the option of easy degen on full pay VP and low limit craps downtown. Going forward I'm thinking I'll stay at the GN or D. This way I can easily get to GN for poker and slightly less accessible good craps and VP. When I do play VP I will try to limit to $3 tables at Fremont, El Cortez and the occasional $3 at Binions. Also it'll force me to walk to at least Golden Gate for any full pay VP. Also I might throw in a little tourney play particuarly at the beginning of the trip. Probably a ~$125 tourney at place like Wynn that dosen't get too many runners. I want to knock the rust off early but don't want to grind a low buyin tourney for 12-14 hours.

Lastly wanted to give my opionions on rooms I played this trip:

Bally's - really don't like this room, dosen't help that I run bad here. In general Bally's is a dump, AC in poker room and escaltor from strip was broken while I was there. It's not easy to walk to other casinos from Bally's, parking however it top notch for the strip. The rake stinks and players aren't particularly bad or drunk whenever I'm there. 2 out 5 stars

Bellagio - Only played about 30 minutes here while waiting for Movado but this place puts me on tilt. Packed in like sardines, no cup holders, buying in and cashing out is a real pia. I also hate the casino as a whole, people playing rich while on vacation who if they had my bankroll management wouldn't even be staying at the Luxor. The dealers, casheir and floor stink and are rude. My first dealer didn't explain how you can't wait for the button at the B and finally after a few hands she rudely explained it to me. On a hand where I won with AK vs. K3 when the river paired a 9 and counterfeited Vs two pair the dealer almost missed this and was going to reward the pot to other player. Myself and another player had to correct her. Playing a tourney at the GN dealer mistakes like this are ok but I expect more from cash at the Bellagio. Players appeared bad but don't think it's enough to get me to play here. 3 stars out of 5.

Binion's - man this place has gone downhill. It always attracted some local freaks but it's even worse with there cashback promo. I really felt like I was playing with people at local bus station. I use to see at least one or two walk ins from the Fremont Experience or the pits that would be drinking and playing bad but not during my one session here. I think $1/$3 vs. $1/$2 as well as the creppy locals is scaring away these walk ins. I use to like the way this room looked and still to do. It's sunken in, has nice masucline colors, cool old pictures on the walls, lots of TVs, comforatable chairs, only issue is nothing has been touched up or updated in over 5 years. It really sucks how much it's gone downhill and stinks for a poker player downtown as it means there's only one option for poker downtown. 1 out 5 stars

Golden Nugget - This has become my favorite place to play. I like the look of this place, always has a good amount of $1/$2 going and they finally got rid of the stupid $0.50 rake in $5 increments. I use to not like the uncapped play here as there use to be a lot big buy-ins that made a typical 100 BB buy-ins game much more limited. I now tend to see worse players and smaller buy-ins which means I can play some poker. I saw the friendiest floor and dealers here which use to not be the case as well. I saw some horrible players here that I didn't see anyplace else. This will be my home base going forward. 4.5 out 5 stars

Orleans - This was better than I had expected. I had always assumed it would be full of OMC locals nitting it up due to the easy access and low rake, $2 comp. This was not the case when I was there. Some definite locals but not the nitty types. Wish they had $1/$2 but I still think overall it was a good game. I saw one very loose, local action player with a lot of money to blow, and some people in for the series that weren't very good. I'd consider playing here again. 3 out 5 stars

Venetian - to be continued, kid is looking for attention.

To be continued poker room reviews....

Venetian - I like this place, the $1/$2, $2 comps and low rake appeals to my nitty side. The room is super comfortable, well ran, awesome coffee. There's enough $1/$2 action you should be able to find whatever your're looking for. This will be my go to strip location going forward, just need to find a good place to park.
5 out 5 stars

Forgot MGM,

MGM - This use to me my go to place back in the day. I loved there old wrap around room next to the center bar, no promo $4 rake. It had by far the sofest games in town and plenty of $1/$2 action. Those days are long gone, now your in a corner someplace with best near by attraction being the broken sigma derby machine. No promo drop is now replaced with a gimmicky daily raffle. Good games can be found here but unless I'm in the area for some reason I'm avoiding this place gonig forward. Hakkasan and Aria killed the old room and time to find a new home. 3 out 5 stars

I'm in general counting it as a win as I gambled non stop for 4 days, 5 nights. However I felt like mush from A Bronx Tale with the dice, definitely hit the wrong side of variance.

Ledger is easy, keep a small notebook and quick notes usually while having a smoke sitting at a slot.

Few pics I forgot to post,

Funny to people watch the employees (dealers, security, cooks, cocktail waitress) who are constantly checking lines at the book and placing bets. Also saw this at the Cal and had to take a shot, got to get that gamble in:

Good ribs at Ellis Island, forgot to get them Owning Mahowny style minus sauce.

Vegas spends billions a year on marketing gambling but this was all you'll see on antigambling, same brochure for 30 years.

Last a pic from the B room.

For me it's full pay JOB at MSS bartops. MSS also has some other very good options, it along with the Cal and 4 queens are some of the best in Vegas.

I personally do like the Vue bar upstairs at the D casino. Any bar with full pay BonusPoker is a plus.

Try vpfree2.com

This seems odd. You like the parking at Ballys but not at Venetian? At Ballys you have to park in the garage in the back, schlep down a long hallway, and then basically come out in the restaurant mall not close to anything. The Venetian parking garage is down a short hallway, down the escalator and then a short walk straight across the casino. The only bad part is the garage fills up on really busy nights.

The best place to park at Venetian is at the Palazzo ( the entrance is immediately to the right when you turn (pass) LVBlvd on Spring Mountain) when you get off the elevator turn left through the shops and the poker room is on the right. No more than a 200 yard walk. Or park in Venetian parking walk back around through traffic into the main entrance and the poker room is right there, or valet, but nit's gon nit

Hmm I was under the impression that for Venetian it was a super long walk from its garage and that the garage itself was inconvenient. Going to The Venetian I always park at TI.

What I like about parking at Ballys is access from Koval and no strip. Plus I've never needed to park in the garage, love avoiding parking garages. This is parking close to Ballys book. It's a long walk but I find the parking part easy.

Nit gonna nit so no valet, well maybe at Jerry's Nugget to stay safe but at the V no dice.

So Spring Mtn parking access and no strip, sweet. The V gets better and better.
