I don't see this becoming a huge issue for patrons. Worst case the casinos just place some cops near cages in the future.
Casinos other than the Bellagio have been robbed both before and since the Bellagio robberies.

There was a whole series of robberies a couple of years back.

Every casino should have security dressed up in military garb and with M-16s slung over their shoulders, plus a sniper scanning the casino floor. To deter the getaway cars outside you should have a guy with a bazooka.

I'm pretty sure no casino would ever get robbed if they did this.

Trooper has a better chance of being a successful casino robber than poker player

Update:

Looks like he struck again?!

https://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2018/...st-of-las-veg/

What are the chances it's the same guy?
Also, they didn't list the casino per se, but provided general area. Could it be Tuscany? Ellis Island?

Has to be a much bigger score than the bank and I think it keeps the FBI out.

Going to get caught if doing this repeatedly. Casinos can’t tolerate this and copycats.

I would like to see a cashier just say no. I don’t think this low-level hoodlums are going to murder anyone.

I retract that statement about robbers not prepared to kill.

Why would some 9 dollar an hour cashier ever say no ?

Well, once in awhile people do take ownership of a situation. But in general you are right. Why protect money that isn’t theirs anyway. I am sure they are all instructed to just comply with the demands.

Seriously though, how is there not a panic button that can alert security? Maybe they don’t want security involved so as to reduce gun fire. For a business that literally does thousands of huge cash transactions a day, the lack of security is interesting. You couldn’t get away with this at a pawn shop. They want customers to feel safe which means no violent incidents.

Things may change if this becomes a trend. They can’t let everyone who waltzes in with a gun take all their cash and leave so easily. Just another incident like this yesterday.

insurance covers them.

so its always #1 best idea to give them the money. in the end its just peanuts for the casino, and no loss of life. they are most indeed trained to give up the cash.

it amazes me what some people are willing to do for money. I know it shouldnt by now, but ffs it is ridiculous. id have a hard time stealing a bag of chips (food kind) from the store having not eaten for 2 days let alone have the balls to rob a casino at gun point.

There is always a deductible. And insurance prices will skyrocket. And the insurers will demand extra security measures if they are going to cover.

And all of that is still cheaper than a negligence or wrongful death lawsuit- not to mention lost business and terrible PR- when bullets start flying on the casino floor, all to catch some jagoff who will likely get himself caught eventually anyway.

"Police say they have some surveillance photos of the suspect ...." calling his Uber for his getaway ride.

https://patch.com/nevada/lasvegas/la...obbed-saturday

Ellis Island, and not for the first time either.

Also a report Harrahs, the SLS and NYNY also robbed in the last week.

"New York New York, Harrah’s, Ellis island and SLS Las Vegas casinos have all fallen victim to criminals after quick cash since January 10th."

https://www.ktnv.com/news/crime/crim...-vegas-casinos

Finally, sometimes Metro gets someone for one of these casino crimes.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crim...icle-1.2037423

..... maybe the thieves were facing a margin call on some leveraged bitcoin trades gone bad ?

Sounds like we're heading towards...

Casinos continually get robbed.
Snowflake security policies too paranoid to "handle".
Insurance premiums spike.
Casino profits decrease.
Even-money blackjack tables introduced.

The casino customer gets screwed because its the American way!

Is it true in Nevada police can't pursue someone who's on a motorcycle? Why don't the robbers just escape Beyond the Pines style.

Yes exactly. It is really a win win for the robber and the casino IF no bullets fly. As a patron I also prefer this solution as I don't risk myself or friends getting killed. If the worst scenario is a bump in the casino insurance and paying deductibles this is clearly the best option.

I think people don't realize how expensive bad PR is. How much money did the shooting cost Mandalay Bay and all of LV? Hard to put an exact number on it but the loss in profit is astronomical. Even if a robber walked with 1-2 milly these casinos can still just not afford to have gunfire on their premises.

lol, never heard that. I'd not want to be someone to test it though.

Metro seems more likely to send their "six friends" in pursuit if they are being out-run.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d-Gqp-jPAI

Besides, they have a lot of Metro guys riding motorcycles.

Yeah, we should definitely go back to the days where casinos didn't screw their customers.
