I do not work for the Sahara or receive payment. My relationship with the Sahara consists of an understanding with Steven Pique, director of poker operations, that I can create games and their structures. Hence, things like time charges, deep or very short buy in options, running it multiple times, all straddles being live, etc., things that I like and I imagine others liking fit into the picture.
I've asked for some comps that suited me, such as a room when I might need it. I'd imagine doing this for a little while longer, although a long trip for family reasons will interrupt me in October (terrible timing, of course). Ultimately, I imagine my father's condition will mean I can't stay permanently.
It's been suggested to me that I should in fact ask for payment, but it would drive up the rake, and give me less leverage in negotiating game structures.
I came to LV with a friend to help him start an unrelated business, and while I am here, I thought I would create some games that I like at a small but comfortable room. I originally intended the Mandalay, but it was shut when I arrived.
I'd like to get PLO going, and tried during summer, but it was a mixed result and several nights the game didn't run.
Overall it's been fun, a challenge, and educational as to how LV poker functions.
