I am a mix games player that have played at the Sahara a lot and here are a few observations.

1. Room is nice if you are in the back table or the private room. If you are at that table in front it sucks. Loud and the riff raff hang over and it's not very fun. Dealers are great. As mentioned before waiting for a game can be a pain.

2. I don't like the Sahara as a whole for they never really renovated the property when it was SLS. The parking garage is downright scary and some spots are ghetto.

I haven't been to Resorts yet but would probably enjoy the mixed games there.

Just my 2c

Small update: running a 5/5/10 game on Tuesday starting at 7 pm. The details for now are 300-1500 buy-in, 8 handed, $5/half hour time charge for this first Tuesday, $6 if it runs regularly.

Most of the table is filled, but still looking for two more to commit. PM me if interested.

If it works, may become a regular thing. Planning on bomb pots and the 72 game, etc, trying to keep it social like the Thursday game.

Thanks.

That's correct, 6 commitments so far.

Two play with each other often at RW, and those two occasionally play with the 3rd, "DGAF" who will be making the trip from LA/SD, as he does several times a month. Everyone else will be new to me or relatively unfamiliar.

Yes, today, Thursday is 2/3 deepstack NL cash at 8 pm official start.

Tuesday is 5/5/10 at 8 pm, although this coming Tuesday Matt Vaughan is hosting a game at Sahara, and I am not sure how that will affect things then or long term.

For both games, contacting me is a good idea to lock up one of the first seats, but Poker Atlas works well, too.

I'm barely on IG and not at all on YT. I make all announcements on Twitter from @out_of_position

GL.

Do you work for the Sahara room? Are you the poker room manager? It's somewhat unclear what your relationship with the room is.

He tries to get games going for the room in exchange or some perks and a little cash.

He is not an employee on payroll.

Wow, I assumed he was the manager

I do not work for the Sahara or receive payment. My relationship with the Sahara consists of an understanding with Steven Pique, director of poker operations, that I can create games and their structures. Hence, things like time charges, deep or very short buy in options, running it multiple times, all straddles being live, etc., things that I like and I imagine others liking fit into the picture.

I've asked for some comps that suited me, such as a room when I might need it. I'd imagine doing this for a little while longer, although a long trip for family reasons will interrupt me in October (terrible timing, of course). Ultimately, I imagine my father's condition will mean I can't stay permanently.

It's been suggested to me that I should in fact ask for payment, but it would drive up the rake, and give me less leverage in negotiating game structures.

I came to LV with a friend to help him start an unrelated business, and while I am here, I thought I would create some games that I like at a small but comfortable room. I originally intended the Mandalay, but it was shut when I arrived.

I'd like to get PLO going, and tried during summer, but it was a mixed result and several nights the game didn't run.

Overall it's been fun, a challenge, and educational as to how LV poker functions.

I returned last week and we ran a very fun 2/3 deepstack. Rayz/"Butterflysymmetry" from his decade-long challenge thread dropped by; you can read a little bit about the game there.

If you are in town for the WSOP and looking for a low-rake, deepstack cash game, this is the night, Thursdays 8 pm at Sahara.

Details are in the thread, but you can always contact me with any questions, and to lock up a seat.

I imagine I will run this game for a few months more, GL.

Researching a FUN format for Friday nights at Sahara Poker. Below are the high points:
  • 1-3 NLH
  • $100 - $800 w/ 100% match stack (All games are match stack)
  • $5 Double Board Bomb Pots - Every 30 minutes (players can agree on more)
  • $25 added to every bomb pot once per hour per table

I would cultivate the list myself but would welcome any handshake partnerships with players looking to put together a fun and exciting group. Ideally, the list would open Wednesday night giving players a chance to sign up early. MUG would commence at 5pm Friday night. I would be happy to entertain thoughts/questions on any other aspect to the game that would drive action or create an exciting experience. What do you think?

Until the end of time ☺️. No, this is the first event coming up on the 7th. The list is open now. Secretly, I would like it to take off so that I can spread it every day.

You first timers to the game, come see me and I will add a little voucher to your card.

Hey Somehow,

Are you aware of the Venues and Communities section of the forum? You might want to start a thread there also if there's not already a Sahara thread and I don't think there is. I can't speak for everyone but that's where I've always gone to check on different casinos when I'm about to do some traveling.

Good luck, hope you get some good crowds for your game.

After taking a few weeks off, I am restarting the deepstack 2/3 game at Sahara this week on the 12th at 8 pm. Please note the move to Wednesdays for 2022.

Details are earlier in the thread, but basically it is a 200 bb min, no cap, 5$ time charge game. All straddles are live and we do various things like the show one game or bomb pots, depending on what the players want.

Find it on Poker Atlas day of, or contact me directly to lock up a seat or get on a contact list for this and other games I put together. Thanks for helping get this off the ground in 2021, looking forward to more.

Just returned to New York from 8 days in Vegas to play poker. I like tournaments. Played in Caesar's, Bally's, Aria, Venetian, Orleans, Southpoint, Resorts World, and Sahara. Though not the biggest, Sahara was absolutely the most fun!

The renovation of the casino is fantastic. My favorite right now for aesthetics. The room is super clean and super comfortable.

I played there twice. The fellow players were friendly and fun both times. Some players were good, others were first timers. Mostly, everyone was really into the game, table participation in big hands (cheers, boos, etc.) added to the fun.

Buy in structure was the best value of anywhere played. $60 buy in, $40 rebuy, $20 add on.

I can't wait to get back there - high recommendation for tourists looking for a fun game!

Quick update:

2/3 deepstack continues to run each Wednesday but moving the start time to 7:30 pm. We've added the small blind game and some Texas Stand-up, among other things.

Also, going to try PLO starting this Thursday the 31st at 7:30. 5/5, $200-500, match a stack.

Contact me with questions, thanks.
