The 4-8 mixed game at SAHARA is a good way to flex your poker muscle, not to mention preventing no-limit "bord'em."

Golden Nugget 1/2 uncapped, with multiple players sitting with 3000-6000 BBs.

lol yes - everytime I am in town I go down there in hopes of getting into one of these Uncapped 1/2 games where table is loaded. Mostly, I never get it but do find it to be a fun/good 1/2 game in the summer. Best was one night we had a couple guys with like 1500-2000, but nothing like this.

Reminds me of when I was at the Excal and the table next door was action packed. Multiple stacks all-in with over $2k per stack. The thing was, there was a normal buy-in limit of maybe $300. But there were 3 or 4 guys that had been playing a long time and people kept re-buying and stacking off to them.

Yea my bad. It’s a min 200 bb buy in game. I like games like this however the game was kinda nitty and seemed reg heavy. It seemed like people that play the game weekly are regs while they try to get some recs to join game bc Sahara doesn’t really fill too many tables.

I think it would be a great game if it was 200bb deep+ and more recs. I’m not trying to battle against other regs. I would rather play in a soft game with recs. Hard to find deep games with recs though. I just find deep stack cash much more enjoyable (like 150-300+ bb games). I play in upstate ny once in a while where the max 1-2 buyin is $200 and people will buy in for $40-50 which is comical. I don’t think it’s right that the buyin isn’t $300 + it kinda kills the game when you let players buy in super short.

That's the problem with Sahara. It is too far from the strip for vacationing recreation players to go to. Much better games on the strip with more options ...

Of course! Who wouldn't, if you have a big skill advantage?

Why would a rec player want to play in that game? Set it up and you'll be lucky if half the table are recs. And that half will be gone in a couple hours.

Hi, after running these new games at the Sahara for five months, I have to leave for a time for family reasons. Seems like a good moment to comment on a few things:

First, thanks to all of you who came out. We ran the deep stack 2/3 every week successfully, sometimes short-handed but sometimes getting two tables and often lasting until the Sahara Poker Room closed at 4 a.m. We had one legitimate hiccup last week where the game didn't go very late. Every seat counts, and I appreciate everyone who was willing to give it a shot.

Super low stakes PLO has been a bit harder to get off the ground, but we had a full table again and a list this week. So it's coming along. I tried to create affordability in the game, as most low stakes PLO is a bit of a trap for smaller stakes bankrolls. For instance, a 1/2 game with a 5$ bring in is actually quite hard on many players, so going with 1/1 and true pot limit math, plus the ability to run it more than once, seems to be something of a draw. I should note that the math was never an issue, and it may be something of a myth that dealers and players can't work with increments not in 5$.

That said, many want to play bigger and have pushed for that. I don't think either perspective is wrong, and am open to change in the future.

Second, concerns over the game being unfriendly to recreational players and to the bumhunters that seek them is somewhat true, but mostly overblown. Yes, the game is a little harder, yes it can be nitty, but the reality of this and all games is that the composition and mood of the players each day matters. We've had huge, wild nights with ridiculous pots for every night that plays tighter.

Third, as for the general games at the Sahara, such as the 1/2 NL, if you think they are better elsewhere, I think you're in for a surprise. I don't play in that game much, but looking over at the stacks they run up, something must be going well, no matter how far away it is from Caesar's.

Again, thanks for the support. Had a great time running the game and met so many interesting people. Hopefully I'm back at it in a bit.

Chris

Appreciate the update.

I've played there once, and I really liked the room, tables/chairs and chips. The reason I've only been once is because I don't want to take a chance on going and waiting over an hour to get in the game. Waiting for a few seats to open at a single table can often be excruciating. Especially if the game is good.

And if its an occasion where the game isn't good, not having other options is a big deterrent.

I have no idea how that issue could be resolved, but thought I'd share my view, as I'm sure that it's not unique. Like I said, you've got a great room and I would love to see it succeed.

Sure, that can be a problem in any one room. I had to wait an hour just to get into 1/2 at Red Rock last week, and 2 1/2 hours for 2/5, despite multiple tables running in a fairly large room.

Overall the wait at Sahara is average, as far as I've noticed. I have a little more control when I host the PLO or NL, as I can and do regularly give up my seat if a new player gets on the list.

I'd say your concern is fair, but is compensated by generally better games. Further, the drive from Sahara to Wynn is direct and short, and neither place has parking issues, so there's that.

Lastly, you can register for a seat on Poker Atlas more easily than on Bravo, and it checks you in automatically once you arrive on the grounds. So a small efficiency that ends up helping.

1/1 coming to Sahara once a week starting June 30th. I’m helping to run the game in association with the Shippity Dip YouTube channel.

I'll believe it when I see it. The room has no traffic and I've seen plo spread only a couple times the last few months.

How are you going to to help drive traffic and run the game? Your 200 YouTube subscribers?

Appreciate the compliment, but I'm not Rick Ross.

Grateful to have DGENwear sponsoring this game with some of their dope swag.

Giving a few free pieces of "swag" is not sponsoring the game LMFAO.

probably not the right section to post this in:

but...FWIW the poker tables were back out in the RIO poker room this afternoon. Not setup for play yet, but they were there.

This looks the uncapped $1/$2 NL based on pics and comments. Not exactly standard to have that much money on the table there but not rare either.

Update after running these games for eight months:

The 2/3 deep stack has been a great, fun experience and will continue so long as I am here. We've had up to three tables of action, especially when the DGAF community comes out. Some nights, like tonight, look to be much smaller and I have to work to fill the table.

The other week we had over 30k on the table and was urged to run a bigger game, which I am looking into. For that, I would need some players in advance, contact me if interested. A three blind 2/5/10 seems to be popular right now, although just moving to 2/5 would be enough for some.

PLO Tuesdays, on the other hand, has been much more hit or miss. For every great night, the next week would be empty. So I'm taking a break from offering PLO.

Mason came out last Friday to visit the room, play some NL, and offer some critiques of how it might do better. You can listen to our previous conversation on his Cardrooms book on the Poker Zoo podcast.

Thanks to everyone who has come out, and let me know if I can get you a seat or answer any questions. GL in the series.
