El Cortez isn't run down... it's a faily clean low stakes small casino that is well run. Bunions is more 'rundown' tha the El Cortez is.

Maybe Arizona Charlie's, Jerry's Nugget or any of the micro casinos that proliferate thru out the north Las Vegas area... there is also a casino at the huge truck stop at blue diamond and the 15 fwy, and don't forget the casinos in the Pahrump area..

This is a subjective topic as one person’s trash is another’s treasure, but I’ll throw out a few “unique” places that are decidedly not like the Strip mega resorts:
- Silver Sevens: not bad looking from the outside but seedy on the inside.
- Wild Wild West: a casino at a truck stop.
- Railroad Pass: a better execution of a casino at a truck stop.
- Club Fortune (Henderson): small locals place.
- Eureka Casino: have not stepped inside but driven by it plenty, exterior is interesting enough. It’s restaurant inside is supposed to be good.

Then there’s casinos that have been closed for some time but haven’t been flattened yet, hard to get more run down looking than those. The Western on East Fremont would’ve fit what you’re looking for to a T when it was still open but still might fit your purposes. More tattered looking is the Roadhouse at the corner of Sunset & Boulder Hwy in Henderson.

Club Fortune I feel is probably closest to Joker’s. I think they have $1 or $2 craps. I’m a big Jerry’s fan though.

My recommendation is hit up North Las Vegas and Boulder Highway for some scouting, your bound to find what your looking for.

NLV

Jerry’s
Silver Nugget
Bighorn
Poker Palace

Boulder Highway

Longhorn
Club Fortune
Skyline

Downtown Henderson casinos

Also I’d check out Arizona Charlie’s on Decatur.

Haven't been to the Golden Gate casino in many years but that's even older than the El Cortez.

El Cortez actually looks a lot better these days than 40 years ago. I’d say it looks better in there than a lot of strip properties. If you want a dated casino try Luxor, Excalibur, Harrah’s, Bally’s.

The Golden Gate had a shower and shave, also.

Ha this is before my time. GG is another place where it’s probably one of if not the oldest buildings in town but Derek had done some remodeling and I’d say downtown 4Q and Binions are more rundown and I’d say several strip properties are more in need of a refresh.

I haven't been there in a few years, but Eureka Casino did have a surprisingly good restaurant. (The owner, who passed away last August, was a very unexpected combination of long time Las Vegas and Ivy League cred. He served on the Board of Trustees for Harvard and donated $15 million to UNLV to fund a business school.
https://lasvegassun.com/news/2021/au...-of-unlv-dies/ . Very nice guy.)

So we're finished! It's an 8 minute sci-fi leaning indie film (with not budget) that we ended up shooting partly Main Street Station,
so thanks to whomever suggested it!

I did the score (all the music) for it and made a cameo as the hit-man lol

(also mods, can/should I make a new thread here about this since the community helped?)

There was a casino in Pahrump, actually 2 if I recall from quite a few years back. One was a Terrible's, the other was not.

I don't feel like she needed to be a nasa astrophysicist, she could've just been some regular lady who the organization underestimated like sarah o conner(sp?) from terminator movies.
