In-N-Out is definitely a good burger, and ordering off the menu is fun. Worth it for East Coasters at least once.

That said, if you are on the Strip and not with car, you might want to try someplace else like Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay or Le Burger Brasserie.

Le Burger Brasserie intrigues me for prurient interest.

From the LVRJ review

Quote:
Every time I think about Le Burger Brasserie, I shiver. Not shudder -- although there are plenty of places in town that prompt that reaction -- but shiver. It's been awfully cold lately, and the winter chill on the evening of our visit extended into the wing that connects Paris and Bally's, where Le Burger Brasserie is located in the former site of Ortanique. And there those poor young hostesses and servers were, racing around in their go-go boots and short-shorts and sleeveless-to-the-extreme tops. They're fetching outfits, to be sure, but I can't help but think that only their ankles were warm.
Sounds worth a trip to me.

Five Guys has a better burger than INO. The menu is not as good, it is more expensive, and the fries are not as good. But the burgers are better. Five Guys is in mid-atlantic: VA/MD/DC/NC but I think they just opened in NYC.

I can't eat Fatburger, it might give me the HIV.

And best order at InNOut - 3x3 Animal Style. And the fries blow goats.

Have the cabbie stop there coming from and going to the airport for a good fix of in and out while in vegas.

LOL I don't think I've ever tipped a Sonic girl. Ooooops!

Well I'm so lucky to live in L.A. with INO and Fatburger. I actually like Fatburger better personally, but they are WAY more expensive. They also take longer, but INO always has a long line around the corner so it evens out I suppose. Skinny fries ftw.

INO is defiantely worth a cab ride, esp. if you've never been there. McDs, Burger King, Jack in the Crack, THOSE aren't worth cab rides. INO and Fatburger are definately a step above. Although it's hard to argue about something like this that's based on personal preference anyway. You just gotta try 'em and see if you like 'em. I know people that think INO sucks.

What the **** is with all the hate for animal style fries? Try it once, it won't kill you, and they're pretty tasty imo (also, I am not filthy or fat).

I think all people have a mythical fascination with fast food that isn't located in their geographical area; we don't have Sonic in Northern California, so I was super stoked when we had one near the house I stayed at in Vegas for a month last summer (and breakfast burritos + mozzarella sticks at 7am after coming back from the casino = perfect). I've never been to a White Castle but having seen Harold and Kumar I probably need to do that before I die.

Also, to address the OP, the nearest In 'N Out to the strip (I imagine) is on Tropicana just on the west side of I-15.

If you've never been to WhiteCastle here's the order.

6 sliders, a box of nails and a battery acid.

6 burgers, 1 fry and a coke.

No lebowski needed. By a mile the best fries; excellent service; good burger, good shake. I never would have thought any fast food chain would be much better than any other, but INO is a notch ahead of the rest for burgers.

No animal fries, tho, please. A true nightmare.

In and Out is one of my least favorite Burger chains. Hey, since you don't have Jack in the Box in the East Coast, why don't you plan a special trip for that too? And White Castle? My goodness.

Oh, and before I forget, lets all run down to Astro Burger in Hollyood. It is worth the Greyhound ticket. Hillary Swank ate a Veggie Burger there to celebrate her Oscar for Million Dollar Baby, and the joint is populated with other celebs, like Leonardo DiCaprio. The meal cost less than 10 dollars.

And then take a trip to wait one hour in line at Pink's Hotdog stand because Modonna showed her breasts there one day.

Clearly the sack of fries is +EV.

I will come out of lurker mode to post on this one. I am a burger fanatic.

In-N-Out is definitely worth the trip. I like the fires, but they are a bit of an acquired taste.

Fatburger is a totally different style - thicker patty, and steak fries. Outstanding, open all night, and right on the strip next door to the MGM.

There is a "gourmet" burger joint in the walkway between the Luxor and Mandaly Bay with outstanding burgers, and all types of styles.

The $25 Cheeseburger at Nine (Palms) is excellent, but probably only worth about $15. They do build your fries into a sort of "Fry Cabin" so there is that.

A local took me to Kilroy's once - nowhere near the strip; long drive. It was pretty good but I'd rather just go to any of the above (except Nine - that was a one-time deal).

That's my tourist take. Now, I could write a book about burgers in the greater Tacoma, WA area (Little Holland > everyone else).

So basically INO only has standard toppings....lettuce, tomato, onions.... and "spread" what is that ? like Big Mac Sauce?

Also, how much will a lunch/dinner set me back here ?

I second the Five Guys Burgers as having the best burger I've had. Better than Fatburger, much better than White Castle. Haven't had In n Out yet, but will next month when in Vegas. I think Five Guys' fries are pretty good too.

I've been to Bob's Big Boy, and don't see them as anything different than a typical family style restaruant chain burger.

Its thousand island dressing.

A normal double double is 2 slices cheese, 2 patties, onion, lettuce, tomato, spread.

Anything else you have to specify or that is how it will come

Somewhere around $5-6 for a Double Double, fries, and soda.

When I rented a car in vegas I went there all the time. I was staying at the MGM though so it was quite close. It will set you back around $5-6 if i remember right.

That's a winning idea. It's worth a small detour if you're already in the cab. I see cabs going in and out of there all the time but I've never looked to see if they have paying fares on board. I think mostly it's just hungry cabbies.

There is no hamburger that is worth 15 bucks. Unless it is fed to you bite by bite by a naked stripper on your lap.

I like Sonic more than In N Out. Besides the burgers being better, they have a lot more different stuff than ino. On a percentage basis, I've probably tipped the chick carhops more than anyone else I've tipped. Unfortunately there are none nearby.

Whataburger is almost as good as Sonic. Also a dearth of them here.

The best that can be said of Jack in the Box is they are open 24 hours, have cheap tacos, and have breakfast all day.

We have White Castles all over Minneapolis...Rarely do I ever eat there but they are good.

The guy who said sack fo fries +EV is correct...

I was on a work trip to Sacramento 4-5 years ago and stopped at an In and Out.

Thought is was good but I'm having a hard time understanding the hype.
