Moderators, please move if this is the inappropriate forum.

Headed to Vegas in April and as a lifelong East Coaster, have never been to an In n Out. This is high on my priority list.

I can see that there are like seven locations in Vegas, but am having a hard time deducing where these are.

1. Are there any inside a casino on the Strip, or within walking distance?
2. Are there any within walking distance of the Rio, where we'll be staying?

None are inside any of the hotels. There is one not too far from the RIO, but it would be a long walk! It's one of those deals where you can see it and thus, assume it's gotta be close. In this case, it's not that close. Try taking a cab or ask the bell hop/concierge what's the best way to go.

I say take a cab if you have to. Sounds like you want to go and you really should! This sounds similar to my recent trip to Chicago with the wife who had never had Whitecastle. We asked a doorman and he hailed a cab for us. Cabbie took us through the 'hood' and I thought we were at best going to get robbed or worse, get shot. Luckily neither happened. The food was ok, but not great. But our story will last a lifetime!

There is not one with in walking distance of the Rio. It's within walking distance of the strip but it's a walk I wouldn't recommend. The one you'll want to go to is on dean martin blvd. and tropicana. The intersection of trop and las vegas blvd is supposedly the busiest in the world, NYNY, MGM, Excalibur and Tropicana are all on it. To get to the In-n-Out from that location simply head west, it's on the other side of the freeway.

y does everyone have an infatuation with in n out?
yes i think everyone should eat one once, but its not like its the greatest thing in the world, obviously living in california i can have one netime i want. But the burgers are decent, and the fries are not that great. I'd much rather have a tommy burger than an in n out burger

In-n-Out ain't worth walking over the Interstate to visit. And it ain't worth a cab ride. It's worth a trip if you have a car. It's just a burger chain, after all. The burgers are fine, but the fries leave a lot to be desired. They are made from fresh-cut potatoes, but they are fried only once so they come out either cooked right and mushy, overcooked and a little crispy, or rock hard and McDonald's crispy (depending whether you order them normal, medium well, or well done). Plus you ain't gettin' a story to last a lifetime unless you break the 100x100 In-N-Out burger eating record, or someone gets hit by a car.

And there are actually folks who think Fatburger is better than In-n-Out. I'm not a huge burger aficionado so subtle difference are lost on me, but I think In-n-Out gets the nod.

The "correct" In-n-Out order, incidentally, is "2 by 2, animal style, fries medium well". You can get the fries animal style, too, but that's just a bit gooey for my taste.

i worked at INO for about a year and a half. i got a free burger every shift. so i ate there 5 times a week.......that killed it for me. it took about a year before i went back to eat there.

anyway, correct order is this "#1 animal style with chocolate shake instead of the drink".
but for the love of good, no matter what anyone tells you, DO NOT get animal style fries. that is for filthy fat pieces of ****.

That's the thing. I'd like to eat there once. I don't plan on eating every meal there. And I'm on a tight budget, so it fits my price range.

Theres a number of "secret menu" items.

Like the other poster said, grilled onions are dominant.

You can get pickles, but you have to request them.

I prefer the normal cheeseburger to the double double. Too much cheese and grease with the double cheese and patties imo.

Yes, the one you would want it on Trop, on the Orleans side of I15. Its prolly a $5 cab ride from any of the hotels at the Trop/LV Bl. Intersection.

Yes it's worth the cab ride. For once, Bav doesn't know what he is talking about.

I can't believe people consider White Castle a novelty such that they would go out of their way to go there. I have 4 within 5 miles of me and go maybe twice a year. I suppose it's the same with locals and INO.

I really wish we had Sonic's around here, though. Those commercials make that stuff look really good!

I've been looking to try Sonic too. They are getting closer to NY (there is one about 30 miles north of AC).

As far as In-N-Out goes, always "double double animal style, extra crispy fries". Animal style fries look disgusting. My mother-in-law, who is Ms. Health Conscious (OK, she's not even close to Negreanu) absolutely loved her burger. When I introduced my wife to it in 2006, she now understands why every western trip must involve one In-N-Out meal.

however, I wouldn't cab it there. Though you can usually get one back.

Sonic has gone down hill in so many ways. They used to be the best Fast Food joint, now they are no better then whataburger or McD's. The only thing they have on any other joint, is there Drinks. Nothing beats a Route 44 soda from Sonic.

opinions are like, well, everybody's got one.

it's a personal preference, like anything. There is a certain amount of mystique associated with an In N Out, White Castle, etc. personally, I think White Castle is garbage but people seem to like 'em.

In N Out is good too but it is after all just a burger!

If you really want to be cool though, order "off the menu"

http://www.in-n-out.com/secretmenu.asp

technically speaking, you can get an X by X burger with as many mean/cheese levels as you'd like!

In - n - out blows away anything we have on the east coast, Fat Burger at the Borgata isn't event close to a substitution, In n out makes a great burger, when I was out in Pheonix for super bowl, made it a point to get In-n-out, ended up going 2x within 2 hours of each other

Only good things about Sonic are the carhops wearing hotpants and serving you on roller skates!

FWIW, In'n'Out no longer makes, I believe, anything bigger than a 16x16. There is a practical reason behind this - it's the most patties they can fit on the grill at one time, thus ensuring you the freshest burger possible.

Also, "just a burger chain"?! Pshaw. In'n'Out is insulted by this heresy.

Last trip we went straight from the airport to INO Burger on the way to the strip. Added a bit to the cab fare but nothing horrible.

There is a Sonic close to where I work and it's just OK...at best. And I hate all Sonic's drinks...there is a funky 'zing' to them that I really can't stand.

Never had an INO burger but the Fatburger at Borgata must be a major step down from the one in LV if INO 'blows it away'. I go to Fatburger everytime I'm in LV...without fail...because it's just so damn good (1/2# Kingburger, skinny fry, and chocolate shake...about $13 ). A burger doesn't exist that 'blows it away' (IMO of course). I was a cook for 15 years and make burgers at home and I think I make a pretty good burger...but not better than Fatburger LV.

Fatburger in LV is right next to Walgreens on the Strip...across from Monte Carlo.

I stopped eating meat over a year ago and In n Out is the only thing that has seriously tempted me, and I've been in some of the best bbq joints around in the last year. I'm considering a trip to it this weekend when I'm out in vegas.

Like someone else said, if you're that crazy for INO, go to Fatburger on the strip. They use mustard and relish on their burgers, which is not for all pallets, but it's a classic west coast style burger.

Also, INO is the only fast food place that I've heard snobby meat eaters will take their kids, like that dude that wrote Fast Food Nation.
