He said he's going home if/when he loses his trip roll. At worst it's a vacation.

With that balanced age range, you made it easy to put you at 30
How are the games in Detroit?

6 buy-ins? No I'm bringing more than that of course. I was just saying worst case scenario I believe I would lose 6 buy-in's total in the 4-day span that I have.

Sounds like you are ready to make the move perm. GL.
Thank you! I think I am ready to move permanently lol. As much as I say I'm coming back I have this feeling I'm not leaving. It would be hard to be down after 30 hours but it's not impossible; there's a chance definitely.

Don't get me wrong...I certainly wish you well. But the past does NOT guarantee future success...
Thank you for your good wishes. I have had stretches in the past where I lost 10 buy-ins or so. It does not happen very often for me. However, it very well can happen. Let's hope not though.

The games in Detroit are the best they have ever been, as far as I know. The Motor City Bad Beat Jackpot is over a million. On a Monday you might be number 50 on the list when you call at 11 am. The action spills over into Greektown, MGM, and over to Caesar's in Windsor. Greektown and Caesar's are comparable in terms of the amount of tables going and how nice they are. Both are cool but are the worst two casinos in the area for poker. MGM is the nicest casino and the poker room was updated recently. MGM comes in at #2. Nothing compares to the 23 table mad house at Motor City right now. You almost need a room there because the wait on the list can be five hours on the weekends.

Exactly. There's really no risk. All depends on how long I feel like staying. I might end up moving there, though. I put in a lot of research in relocating there over the past few years.

I'm super-stoked to go with only 5 days until I depart. I can't wait! The weather here has been around 10 degrees for weeks. I need to walk outside! I can't wait to sit down and play. I'm looking forward to the restaurant selection as well. I simply avoid cooking. I really just want to extend my stay and get a place for a month. Any suggestions on that? It's possible I can meet a roommate. I lack transportation, so I would like to stay close to the strip if I rent somewhere for a month. I would love walking 2-3 miles to the strip, but not so much at night. I guess I'll have to see. Lots of time to think when I'm down there.

wait a minute you don't know how old you are? I guess this means you're 40

GL! keep some cash stashed away for the flight back, otherwise you will really not be coming back but for all the wrong reasons.

Thanks! Yes, already had more than enough set aside for a flight home and extra.

Try Southwest for flexibility, no change fees, value is good for a year and plenty of seats heading East.

I know you won't tilt away your ticket home money, but buying it early covers the cost as you do plan on at least one trip back, if only to wind up stuff in a month or so.

Also, you might try a 3 day bus pass for $20, can run all the way from Mandalay Bay to Fremont and would give you a break from walking.

Good luck.

Good luck, OP. Ah, to be young again. I like it that you are taking this shot. Now is the time. Have fun and run good!

GL OP, I hope we can tag along and you update us on how things go. You seem to be much more grounded and realistic then you where you started some your previous threads over the past 1-2 years.

Have you considered finding a sublet? A few nights at a hotel can easily equal the cost of a room in an apartment or shared house.

If you are looking to stay as long as possible, this is probably the route you will need to take (so why not do it early?).

That said, best of luck OP and good on you for going for it!

This is basically just a trip to Vegas for a weekend to play poker, not sure why you are making this out to be some sort of "shot" lol.

If you are serious about actually making it, you need to look for longer-term accommodations.

The tunnels should be nice and clean after today's weather

Hope you run good OP, I'd recommend trying to play mostly nights and weekends to start off.

I'm going with intentions of not coming home unless I run rather poor. So I guess instead of calling it a "shot", I should just call it, "a 5-Day poker trip with the good chance and intent to stay longer." Hmmm, maybe "shot" is the right word. What qualifies as a "shot" to you then?

Are you asking me to be a roommate in your gutter? What's the rent?

Why? As if I'll get smoked at $1/2. I already play about 40 hours a week.

Hope this doesn't mean you'll be interested in gutters at the poker table as well.

If the implied odds are correct, then I love gutters.
