FREMONT ST
- So I got in and was anticipating wanting to hibernate because of the general death of the flight process. This obviously never eventuates.
- Was stuck 700 after my first 6 hours after playing 1/2 at Golden Nugget, Caesars Palace and Planet Hollywood. Highlight was having an OMC legit tank 3 minutes on calling my 4bet jam after limping sb and 3betting my raise from the BB. His KK held up against my QQ and I started to wonder why I paid money to come to this hell...
- ...but then I woke up the next day and decided to activate the boomswitch. First we won the above pot with 88 to collect my first ever damn promo money in this damn town. SHIP ME SOME RAKE BACK
- I planned on playing at Bellagio in the afternoon but called an audible and went to Aria. This was my first dodged bullet of the day, as simultaneously as I arrived at Aria/would have arrived at Bellagio, the robbery occurred.
- I managed to pull off my greatest feat in the history of poker: I managed to make an OMC spaz off 300bb in a 2/5 game at Aria with 67o after I cbet AA on A45r for 25 into 130. 1300 of it went in after the board paired on turn. Ship it.
- We then ventured out to Red Rock anticipating some 2/5 that never eventuated. Settled for a 1/2 300 cap where I proceeded to continue the godmode and left about 3am with a touch under 1200.
- After day 2 we were suddenly up nearly two dimes and feeling much less depressed. Peacefully parked back at Four Queens and was ready for a good nights sleep when I stepped out of the elevator into the casino lobby.
I was not expecting to see >20 cops sprinting through around me, people screaming, a girl crying, yellow tape hastily being assembled to block off everything in sight and just general chaos.
Apparentely the way I came in to park was the one side of the block not surrounded by copcars dealing with the shooting murder directly outside my hotel window less than 5 minutes before.
Tired as hell and unable to comprehend anything I went straight to my room and lay shaking for a bit not sure if I should anticipate being in a terror attack, a crime scene, if theres someone loose with a weapon or what. When you're tired the stupidest thoughts come to mind.
Found out in the morning that it was a single shot fired in a gang-related dispute. Im not much of one for sensationalising, but I did immediately contact my friends I had told about the hotel that day and let them know I'm safe and its probably not as nice a spot as I'd led them to believe.
Fremonts always been one of my favourite things about Vegas. Im pretty sensible, dont drink on work trips and know how to stay out of trouble so the slightly higher risk of incident never bothered me. It just feels more genuine.
I dont know if I regret my immediate panic thats likely dissuaded friends from giving Fremont a chance, but I definitely dont want one isolated incident to come across as defining my stay there. Don't be stupid and Fremont's safe as houses. Go play at the Nugget. It's rad.
Other fun HHs from the Nugget...
- 3bet 79cc 1000ish deep IP vs a spot, flatted a half pot lead on Jc Tc x and faced a 2x pot jam on the beautiful 8x turn card. He had AJ and suddenly we are stacking a 1000bb pot with 100% equity <3
- Flopped the nut flush after raising pre 3 times in 90 minutes. Won a stack all 3 times. Vs the same guy. Didn't get murdered. Win.
- Bet 600 into 150 on the river of 5 6 7 8 Q with 9T. Got called by not a straight. Uncapped poker is fun poker.
