MGM Rewards / MLife 2022 Changes MGM Rewards / MLife 2022 Changes

Not sure if this is worth an entire thread, but given how much attention paid parking gets this is worth passing along.

https://www.casino.org/vitalvegas/mg...-club-changes/

The big change is that dollars spent at MGM properties will now earn 4 tier points versus 25 points. (Yes, you read that correctly)

Previously you could earn Gold status by just spending 3k between hotels charges, food and so on. (If you were in town for a conference, this became pretty easy to hit without ever hopping into the pit.)

Under the new system you'd need to spend $18,750 bucks just to get Gold. Yikes!

The interesting thing is that during “normal” times they would try to hide those changes under something like a total overhaul of the system.

But under the current circumstances, they apparently have determined that the vast majority of customers don’t give a F and so they don’t even try to sugarcoat anything. Impressive.

This is a complete joke and absolutely worth a thread. In fact I dont think this is getting nearly enough publicity/mentions yet.

I've been Platinum the last few years and clearly their intent is to have fewer people at the higher levels. Going from 25x to 4x is just absurd. Definitely will be taking another look at Caesars Rewards in terms of where they currently stand.

It sucks but this is just what happens. I was Diamond for a while at Caesars, then switched over to MGM, now may switch back.

Absolutely insane based on the super inflated prices already everywhere. Comps have been pretty bad for a while now, and with this change they will probably kill a lot of low to middle tier players coming to Vegas for cheap. Very sad.

TPG has an article now, so it'll get a lot more traction.

Apparently some changes with their Hyatt partnership as well, which isn't a total surprise given that Hyatt is taking over the Rio.

TPG is exactly the kind of website they don't care about though.

The bad part is they already boned VP players with the changes they made just a few months ago... I guess they figured they didn't piss off quite enough people.

What changes were those? A bit behind on this stuff.

Based on this page, it seems like they're still figuring out the details.

Not sure if mentioned here but just read that Gold tier and up won't have to pay for resort fees. At least it's something

Sure, they're going to throw some small bone out for their higher tier players - but now with the changes they've made and *keeping* the same TC levels - they know a fraction of people will actually hit those levels again.

Before, was any tier automatically getting it waived?

Gold MLife member here. Not only is this probably the end of a decade of my total and exclusive patronage of MGM properties, it's probably the death knell for my 5-6x per year Vegas cadence.

I'm assuming with this change there's no way I'll still be Gold after my points reset and I have to re-earn.

The only thing I ever really used my tier for was comped/heavily discounted rooms. I'll gladly blow thousands at VP, but I cannot stomach paying more than a tiny nominal fee to stay at the property for the privilege of blasting off. After years and years of paying only resort fees or a small extra sum on super busy weekends, I simply am not ever going to pay full peasant prices at MGM properties.

Yes I know, I'm small potatoes and the corporation couldn't give two turds about losing my business. It's just kind of sad because this means I'll only ever really be going to Vegas for WSOP in the future. At least I'll get to try some new properties instead of being siloed off into MGM territory.

I travel a lot, but live in Henderson.

It is backward in my view that a room night or $ spent traveling with Hyatt out of town apparently yields a lot better bonus than a similar spend apparently does in Las Vegas, where such travel is in theory augmented by gambling revenue.

Hyatt seems to me to have a pretty good World of Hyatt loyalty program, maybe that will still be better than MLife for Las Vegas properties.

Any MLife credit card "park free" changes "?

So currently 75 hours of poker (or I've heard 90) gets you up to gold status. They don't actually give you tier points - you just ask the poker people when you hit those hours and they make it happen, I think. I would hope the tier point change would leave that unaffected, but does anyone know?

(I get super butthurt about paying parking fees when I go to play poker so I need the free parking tier to be reasonably achievable with poker hours)

No, this has changed. I just asked the floor this morning and from Pearl to Gold you need 300 hours. It's pretty insane.

Wait, hold up, time out ... you mean to tell me they were giving 1000 tier credits per hour for playing poker??? 1000 × 75 hours = 75000 tier credits and that got you to Gold??? Is/was this in Vegas only??? That's waaaay too easy!

Cause poker at MGM National Harbor gets you ZERO tier credits and I think at Borgata you got like 110 tier credits per hour which would mean you needed like 680 hours of just poker to get to Gold.

Something isn't adding up here or I'm misinformed. Can someone explain how a poker player achieved Gold status (75000 tier credits) in the past? Is it different in different parts of the country?

It sounds like MLife gold is now eligible for comped resort fees, which is a pretty good new perk. I assume this will apply to people who got gold via a tier match, which it looks like is still a promotion they are running through January 31.

Actually it was 75 hours for Pearl and 150 hours for Gold, at least before Covid. If it’s now 300 hours for Gold, well that’s a major change but I can’t say I’m surprised.

I think the new changes take place starting in February.

They could pay me to get a room in one of their properties. Doesn’t mean **** if I have to lose several times as much money to hit Gold to get this “perk.”

They keep promoting the ability to get free parking by getting their credit card. I wonder if that will change.
