Both Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo are at $45 + tax =~$51.

Let’s see what happens to the lawsuit but it’s not very encouraging that not more state AGs joined.

Some casinos always waive resort fees on comped rooms, some never do.mlife properties are offer specific so some comp room offers waive the fee while others don't

With mlife the fees getting waived has nothing to do with tier status

You can't be serious, unless you are still rocking a flip phone.

Booked it online. Always came up as 3 complimentary nights, zero due.

Vegas is still cheap compared to other U.S. cities and is likely to stay that way.

Some slightly out of date (2013) data showed Las Vegas having the most hotel rooms of any U.S. city with 169,100. Orlando was #2 with 119,800.

I was looking at NY for my 40th during the UFC MSG card in November, and they're definitely not cheap, lol.

It's very cheap compared to London, even with our weakening currency.

I understand how it can be irritating, but my possibly incorrect understanding is that they now split the rooms to cut commissions paid to third party booking agents. That doesn't negate the irritation caused by them raising them 5 bucks every year or so, but makes it comprehendable.

I might not be able to stay at the Aria forever, but while my minute play keeps my stays cheap, they've got this sucker.

I am so up to date on technology (not), I didn't think about that. I was thinking more along the lines that I don't bring a full on computer when I come.

Makes me remember the room the wife and I stayed in during our trip. I don't remember the exact price, but it was in the four hundreds.

It was also little more than a storage closet with a bathroom. In fact, I think it was previously a storage closet because the room number wasn't even listed on the floor layout.

I don't like heights and this was one floor below the roof top terrace, but the view looking down into the streets of New York was pretty cool.

For comparison, you can get a top floor suite at Tropicana in Vegas cheaper than that New York room.

I guess I should go back, enter my dates as if I am only staying the number of comp days they are giving me, and see what happens.

When I entered the dates of my full stay, it showed I had three nights comped but I was still going to have to pay resort fees on all the nights.

As I won't make diamond this year and if I can get the resort fees waived at an MGM property by staying there just the comped nights, maybe I should split my stay between there and a Caesars property.

I don't really like splitting between hotels and it would increase my walking which is not good given the way my legs have been feeling, but financially it might be worth it.

Getting resort fees waived on a comped room is only due to your play or the specific offer you’re using, not your status.

And whether the resort fee is $45 or $100 I don’t really care, it’s just part of the price of the room and I measure it that way. I’ve largely made my peace with ****ty hotel booking practices.

I am guessing you are talking MGM because with diamond at Caesars the resort fees are waived for any room whether comped or not.

Same. I don't care what they call it. I am making my decision based on total price.

I just wish all businesses would list the actual bottom line price.

That’s the law in lots of other countries. But we have lobbyists who spend a lot of money to make sure that doesn’t happen here.

Wonder how long it will take for the resort fees to exceed the average weeknight room rate.

With some offers where the resort fee hasn't been waived, it has already happened.

I know that isn't exactly what you are saying, but still.

it can happen a lot with cheaper hotels. I remember when Palace Station was advertising rooms during a dead period where the room was like $25 and the resort fee was like $30.

I use to love going to Vegas, but it is funny, I no longer have any urge. They have just become so disgusting with sucking every penny out of you they can. So much better poker places outside of Vegas!!

I live in an expensive part of Manhattan and prices on the Strip are higher for a lot of things. Even Starbucks is more expensive in the middle of the desert than here on Manhattan. Restaurants are similar prices. I did not see anything that was attractively priced. I felt like I was getting screwed most of the time. Even the crap monorail is more expensive than NYC subway. I don't mind getting screwed if the experience is special, but when my Excalibur room has a $40 resort fee and this resort experience means a 70s motel decor that doesn't even have a fridge in the room, I just feel screwed - in a bad way.

I said this in the Las Vegas thread, but the city just seems to be divided up into a tourist trap Strip and a ghetto overpriced everything else. Everything seems very expensive for what it is. And like I said, I'm coming from Manhattan and I most certainly don't mind paying high prices if I think I'm actually getting something for the high prices.

Yeah, it used to be that when your trip was over, you felt like you got good value and wanted to come back soon. That's how these casinos made their mountains of money. They seem to be too shortsighted these days, ignoring the old cliche of "you can shear a sheep many times, but skin him only once". They'd rather gouge you now than wait for you to come back over and over.

The prices were the number one thing that surprised the wife and I about Manhattan. Other than the hotel room, the prices for things weren't much more than they are here in flyover country.

The wife and I liked Vegas so much that we were going out regularly and talking about moving there. I am so glad we stayed here. It has become a nice place to visit...

I couldn't agree more. I will always look for an airbnb place near the RIO from now on and just order instantcart groceries (although even they try to gouge you)

It's due to the casinos owning the Starbucks. The only corporate owned one left with reasonable prices are in the Fashion Show mall since the one in front of Bally's went out of business.

The MGM Grand one is the worst as they have different prices depending which day it is.
