I’m out.

I’m exactly who they shouldn’t be losing. 4-5 trips per year to none.
Terrible.

Resort fee for comped rooms? I know in MS it's waived.

Well, it is Mississippi and not Vegas so what do you expect.

To me, a comped room isn't a comped room if you are paying something.

What did I expect? I was asking if there was a fee for mgm comped Vegas rooms because I've never stayed at an mgm room out there.

I was making a joke about Mississippi.

Sorry you didn't get my humor.

Sometimes I don't get my humor.

And unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to get resort fees waived pre-stay even for comped rooms.

oh don't worry you'll get to pay that 45+tax at the wynn as well. They had already changed a couple months ago....

the strip really feels like it is close to peak ripoff, but then again maybe these prices are considered normal by most Americans from other big cities? I am reaaaaallly curious to see what will happen when the stock market goes down for a while.....

Sometimes RFs are comped pre stay.

I've got 4 nights in a suite at Luxor in December and that's completely comped.

Following week I have 3 nights in one at Aria, and I've got to pay the RFs.

I don't even gamble that much, just splash around a bit on the slots when I'm bored.

I can’t imagine holding stock in these casino companies. They’re all levered to the hilt and obviously headed for bankruptcy when the recession hits. It’s their freaking business model!

Separately, I have a healthy 6 figure income and I’m done with this garbage. How many suckers are left?

I'm one of the suckers that will still go, because I enjoy spending the summers in Vegas.

Last 2 weeks in June are usually when a bunch of friends from the UK head out during WSOP, and we'll all play some tourneys, have some dinners/nights out etc.

Then I do another 2 weeks solo, and chill out before heading home the week after IFW and attending the summer UFC card.

Can get a room at the Wynn for not much more than a Holiday Inn in most cities, so I guess that helps so alleviate some of the irritation. If I'm happy with the cost of my stay, I'll book, and if not I'll look elsewhere.

I've managed to get some offers for comps from MLife/Caesars through very little play, so I'll keep rinsing those, and then head back downtown once they realise I'm not big enough a gambler to comp rooms at Excalibur, nevermind giving me suites

Right but the entire casino/gambling industry is based on psycology.i get they make a ton off of clubs and **** these days so some frat Bros that spend 1k on a bottle at some clubs and spend 3 days a year in Vegas probably don't care about the fees but people hate being nickeled and dimed especially people gambling and losing.

The entire reason comps exist to begin with is psychological. Losing 2k at the tables feels the same as losing 1600 mentally but losing 2k and getting 400 dollars in food/hotel comps feels way better to lost people than losing 1600.

I don't know what the number is but at some point people are gonna push back at these fees.when they were 5-10 bucks a day whatever but what are they gonna be in 5 years? 75-100 a night? Eventually it won't fly especially at lower end properties.People at **** holes like circus circus paying these fees can't last forever.

But before then I wouldn't be shocked if at some point Caesars properties stop letting diamond members skate on the resort fees.

I did the whole clubbing thing a few times between in my 20s between 2006-11, but never went crazy. I'd sooner spend my money on a nice meal and a few drinks, or a show. Horses for courses, so good luck to the ones who do enjoy it.

I spend a month there every summer, and just factor the fees into the costs.
I've got no knowledge of any other US cities, but have read on other forums that RFs were over $100 for a hotel they stayed at when travelling the US, and the parking was ~$30 p/n, too.

I can't remember exactly where I read it, or I'd look for it. No idea if it's true, but they said that compared to other places they're not that bad. We get rinsed for hotel prices in cities over here, so I guess that softens the blow some. However, given the nosedive in exchange rates for us the last 10 years, I'm probably not far from having to move back downtown for my summers

I've never got the whole playing for comps mentality. I'd sooner just pay what I pay, and have no obligation to do anything other than what I please. I'm on holiday, and don't want to feel obligated to gamble just so they might throw me a free steak, or a cheap show ticket.

I’m here in Vegas right now staying at Bellagio. Comped room, no resort fees, no taxes. I’m platinum

Crappy, but I can understand why they do it. I go to Vegas maybe once a year for 3-4 nights. I look forward to it for months and great way to spend a long weekend with friends that I don’t see as much. After using comp offers the rooms are way cheaper than anywhere else I would travel. Tacking an extra 30-50 bucks total onto the trip is nothing. That being said I don’t stay in the most high end places on principle bc I can just walk 5 minutes to them anyway, so guess this won’t even impact me.

It's also a shadow way to cut back on comps in some sense. Resort fees don't count towards earning Tier Credits as well.

On the flip side, I'm going to Vegas next week for work. I believe my work's hotel budget for Las Vegas is 320 dollars before fees. (Our budgets were inspired by a high profile tech comp, so it wasn't a random value generated) As things would have it, my room just happens to run 315 dollars a night before fees. What are the chances! MGM isn't totally oblivious and certainly keep tabs on what companies are willing to spend on convention traffic.

Did you do anything special when booking? Did you book online or did you call?

I am platinum mainly (99%) due to spend.

I got a few nights for comped rooms at a MGM hotel and still paid resort fees for each night.

The interesting thing about the $45 resort fee, in 2-3 years from now will it go even higher? I mean could they justify a $50 daily resort fee.

Not to me. The only thing I might use is airline boarding pass printing.
