Does MGM have any good spots to watch the games? I know the sports book is big, but is there any chance of getting seats? Are there any sports bars that are good? Im guessing most places will have some sort of minimum, but I’m just not familiar with the place.

Thanks

MGM has TAP Sports Bar. I don’t like the place but have been told it’s rocking during Golden Night games.

Thanks for the tip. They are already fully booked, which is not surprising.

They might have moved it, I haven't been in there for several years, but there is an area that's elevated where people watch from. It's for high rollers or big spenders.

The one next to (one of) the old location of the poker room? I think that one is called Lobby Bar but I don’t think it’s for high rollers? They definitely show sports on multiple TVs though.

If you are going out 3/22-25, that is the second weekend of March Madness. Not likely to be any watch parties, nor will it be much different than normal Vegas. Games Thur & Friday won't start until about 4PM Vegas time and Saturday & Sunday will only have 2 games/day.

Weekend prior is the big watch party weekend for opening of March Madness (3/15-3/19).

If you're going 3/22 then likely just find a spot or spots in the sportsbook and you'll be fine.

Yeah, the second weekend is our regular guys trip. I've never seen big watch parties like for opening weekend. In the past we would hit a lounge in Aria that had food and drink mins, but that lounge closed down. We also did a few years at SLS in the burger joint. It has the sports book in the restaurant, which makes for easy betting. Last year the food quality of the place went to chit and they were trying to charge us a minimum, which didn't happen in the past. I see it as them trying to squeeze as much money as possible due to SLS on the verge of going out of business.

This year a few guys are staying at MGM due to the pools and club. One guy has a business partner in Vegas who is well connected and gets everyone into both for free and with VIP access. The rest of us are evaluating if we should stay there or stay at Aria/Vdara like we normally do. The only reason I see to to stay at MGM is to have everyone in one spot and not have to leave the property to watch/bet on games.

Curious what type of bets are you going to be laying on the games? Will you be doing research or just randomly picking teams?

As far as books go, I always preferred the Mirage. You can easily line shop right across the street at Harrah's or a slightly further walk is the Venetian. But I guess nowadays you can probably download an app and place your bets online?

I do a little research while there, but tend to either go with or against whatever one of my buddies does. He does way more research than anyone, but sadly he has been losing a lot the past few years. I hated to bet against him, but last year I did and won several bets. I only bet to make it fun to watch and to enjoy time with friends. My bets are pretty straight forward with a few parlays thrown in. I’m a poker player, not a sports better, so I keep it simple.

If "free" also covers the MGM room cost, you'd be silly to pay to stay elsewhere.

You do know there are mobile betting apps in Nevada ?

The room is not free. I agree if it was it would be a no brainer.

I've heard about the apps, but never used them. How do you pay/bet, with your CC?
