I feel like the people who complain about resort fees simply haven't traveled in the last decade. I mean nobody likes paying more but if they just tacked on an additional 45 dollars to your nightly fee then people would complain about how the hotel is too expensive.

Curious to see how long the free parking lasts. I could see it ending for NYE or last into the middle of next year.

Random tidbit, StubHub a few years ago went to "transparent upfront pricing" or whatever term they used. Basically the price you saw on StubHub was the price you paid at checkout. Their sales dropped big time because people thought StubHub was more expensive than other sits. Soooo they went back to only showing the ticket price before fees.... and that's why resort fees are never going away unless they get outlawed. (Always a chance! This happened to the airlines years ago!)

The problem is that while resort fees went from the merely too-much 20 bucks a night to the outrageous 45 bucks a night, the room charges didn't get any lower and the resort fee "services" didn't get any better. It's just an outright gouge.

Nooooo, now I won't be able to have my enhanced parking experience! The very idea of having to park far from the elevator as I wade through the lot full of freeloading deadbeats makes me want to puke!

Feel like I'm losing lots of value. MGM Gold, after walking from PH to Aria until I got Pearl.

Then I was parking at Mirage to play at Caesars. I've gone from Gold to Diamond just from wsop.com play. Losing parking value, and I'm sure the diamond lounges won't be what they were for awhile. I've wanted Diamond Lounge access for many years, and now this. Sigh.

Resort fees remind me of my HOA.

They wanted to raise our rates, but we voted no. Then they held a secret meeting and created a new fee called an amenities fee which covers the gym, pool, outside areas, etc. So now even though our HOA fee originally included the amenities we have a new fee every month for the same thing.

Our amenities have been closed for two months due to COVID, but they still charge it.

Just like how they'll charge you resort fees even though all the resort things will be closed.

It's the greatest scam of our century. Bigger than all the govt people dumping stock pre corona.

if they could just raised the rates 45 dollars they couldn't charge what they're charging, that's why the rely on scam resort fees that are intentionally deceptive and total bullshit. that's why people have a problem with them.

The only way to get rid of resort fees is to ban them area wide. One casino can't do it because then their prices will look inflated compared to the others when they roll it into their regular room charge.

When I book through MGM MLife at least they add the resort fee and all taxes in when they give you the total for the room before you book it, so you know the real price you are paying.

The thing that gets me though is that the spa fees have doubled over the past 5 years but yet they have taken away amenities like juices and fruits in the locker room. Last time I was there all they had was water and Ginger Ale

Resort fees also enable casinos to charge customers for "fully" comped rooms, whether they are paid through comps or cash. Eliminating resort fees will take away a lot of value they are receiving from their regulars. This might lead to lower comps, which will anger their regulars. A lot of things affected.

Regulars are already pissed off at resort fees on comped rooms.
Some casinos always waive resort fees on comped rooms like Boyd.
Some it's offer dependent.
I've had offers for comped rooms with no resort fees and then when I check out there are resort fees. If i catch it the day of checkout I have to find the offer email and show the front desk,if I don't see it until after I left I have to call up to get them taken off.

A lot of posters are even fooling themselves when it comes to resort fees. They are throwing around "$45 resort fee" when it is actually more.

Resort fees are subject to a 13.38% tax. So that "$45 resort fee" in reality causes you to actually dig an extra $51.02 out of your pocket each night.
